Did you purchase an OEM or aftermarket camera? I was just at the dealership last Friday and was quoted $170 from their service department. Although I wasn't shocked and didn't drop onto the floor in a tizzy fit, what did you come up with price wise? It looks like a very basic replacement just like the water pump I replaced in my 2016 z71 colorado a year after buying it used in 2018. No other issues with it since until now with the reverse camera.
To be honest I am not sure. It was supplied by the customer and I believe they purchased it off Amazon. Seamed to work just fine and had no fitment issues.

This is usually caused by a short in the harness somewhere. I have seen various conditions of this. Either short to tail lights, fog lights ect. Check the connections in the harness and make sure nothing is corroded.
