2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 - Bang for buck... redefined 

Some say it’s not a super car but I disagree. My C7 Z06 manual is so bad ass it scares the shit out of me. My theory is if its beating super cars than it’s is a super car.

Please.....on a track course maybe, but flat out drag racing there are plenty of cars out there with far less money in them that will show this thing their tailights....I've got an 03 cobra that I paid 28 grand for with only 5600 miles on it when I bought it.....has a Whipple supercharger swap from the original eaton, with the basic intake and exhaust mods to go along with it, and my car would beat this thing in a drag any day of the week and twice on sundays....lol. so for 28 grand and another 8 or so for my mods, I've got a car that will beat this 100 grand fiberglass midlife crisis car. You don't have to be rich to build a fast street car.

+John Wilson No all weather tires exist for the Z06. Can't use the summer only Michelin sports cup tires under 35 degrees... Why isn't there a winter tire for this car?

I don't take the Vettes out during the winter. Too many non winter driving people out there. I figure if I need the winter tires, I just jump in the truck.

The Hooniverse i love you guys And im a Mopar guy but the Z06 is amazing The Viper and Vette are their own competition . Since the C6 and Gen 4 Viper Acr there has been no competition :)

Douglas Vernon of course i would yell in excitement. The issue is the audio is messed up. The volume throughout the video is not consistent. One minute it's super loud and the other it's normal.

Car sounded good to me. Isn't that all that matters? You girls should check out some minivan reviews...I hear they have great audio on their videos.

While i agree that a corvette will depreciate more in terms of overall percentage than say some other exotics, the amount of money lost would actually be less with a Vette. Yea a 100k dollar corvette may only be worth 50K in a few years, but what do you think happens if you buy a 200k dollar porsche gt3?? That car probably looses 30K in value as soon as you drive it off the lot lol!

Elbowz The example you cited is from a rare car and situation. I have heard of Porsche models selling for way over MSRP due to the rarity or even being worth more then they paid. However, you cited one exception in about 100 cases. You almost never make money off cars and you usually loose tons of money. If it was a sure thing to buy a $130,000 porsche and only loose 400 dollars everytime, trust me i would have already bought one.

Shahul Usman its not that the Z06 is losing power because its actually overheating, GM set up the ENGINE AND SC to pull power at semi high heat levels the SC and engine can actually handle very very extreme temps but to maintain warranty / longevity they have a very aggressive ECU tune.

Yea I've been reading on the corvette forums.. Many of there aren't happy about it. In the 80-100k range you have the z51,z06,mustang gt350r, m3/4, new c63 amg-s, cayman gt4/boxster spyder, and even the current z/28 camaro, viper . The z06 is the fastest obviously, but for the track junkie? Maybe the gt4 or z/28 or gt340r would be better.. No cooling issues.. Na engine

I have a side by side photo at the dealership....yes, something is very different. I just got to a grand miles and finally let it rip....listen to the reviewer at 7:15....I had the same reaction when when I hit full tilt.

Gentry We're twins, except I ordered stage one. I think the ride difference you're noticing is from magna-ride...standard on the Z06, an option I didn't get on my Z51. I hope you're enjoying it. I'm driving the piss outta mine.

I just went from Z51 to Z06 as well. The 06 is both more aggressive and faster. I did love my Z51 and it actually sounded better in my opinion than my Z06. With my z06 the exhaust is either off or it blaring. The Z51 exhaust note is more refined and I consider it best I ever heard. All that said, I totally my Z06 it’s a raw animal tamed by great handing.

For few that is bang for the buck but for many I don't think so. I think it's a good retirement car, call it trophy and cruise with it and some spirited driving but when you start tracking that car it's going to be expensive. My evo's set of track tires are $900 and a very good set of brake pads around 500+ and best rotors around 1800/set. I'm talking girodisc, ferodo and hankook rs3 tire brands. But that's only my opinion and I will still love to own a corvette as my cruising/trophy car.

Name a $100k+ car that isn't expensive to track. Hell, even a new M3/S4 gets expensive when using it on a circuit.

Why would the parts for this car be that much more than an Evo? (Aside from the tires because they are massive). And if so, it will go away in a few years after this car is not "brand new". I guarantee you can find bargains online if shop around. Track parts for any car are not cheap.

It is for the active exhaust valves. Inside two are for stealth mode and the outside two open up in race mode. Most people roll in race mode hints why the outer two are alway dirty and the inside stay clean.

The Hooniverse So have I. And I have owned at least one of every generation save the first. Clearly, you understand little about Corvettes, and you don't have a problem sharing your ignorance publicly. So, let's get started. First, Corvettes were historically, and still are, built to a price point. At first, with the 6 cylinder models, they were built as true sports cars, few comforts, a very basic top, and a positioning in the market more akin to 1950s Jaguars, at a less expensive price point. The car became a hit when the V-8 was introduced. When the 1963 models arrived, they were a total sensation over the entire world. They were some of the best machines around and still regarded as one of the most beautiful cars. Each generation after the C3s improved. You started your screed with how these cars were "made fun of" all over the world. Who made fun of them? People who didn't own one. Certainly not the people that got real sports cars for a fraction of what most other powerful sports cars cost. And when the performance improved after the bottoming out of the mid-70s, improving almost every year in fact, well then the naysayers would bitch and complain about "fit and finish". Nothing wrong with the cars, but heaven forbid the US build something that is "genuine" to the elite motoring press, and by ignorant, inexperience readers, by extension. Even blowhard Clarkson had to admit the PREVIOUS generation Corvette was a good car, but could not recommend it...because it is American. Yeah. The difference is that this new car takes a bigger leap than before in quality and performance. Now, instead of being a competitor to sports cars, the Corvette now competes with exotic cars, at a fraction of the price. Still not good enough, as can be witness by some of the idiot commenters here. So be it. So in summary, Corvettes were ALWAYS sports cars, ALWAYS a good value, and to start with comments of "remember when the world made fun of the Corvette" is really off putting. Lastly, a comment such as "I never thought I would say this" really has gravitas coming from someone who has decades of driving and owning experience, such as senior writers from Road and Track, where it sounds a heck of a lot less phony.

ToyKingWonder I love how I make a video praising a car that you yourself seem to care a lot about. The C7 Z06 is one of the greats... it's a truly excellent machine that competes with cars from all over the globe. I throw in some opinion about my feelings toward prior generation cars, and that's where you can't take it. The C6 was a good car (still is), and C5 Z06 is such a crazy good deal right now (speaking of bang for the buck). Still, each Corvette generation going backwards had its issues - with those issues being reduced as the car marched forward through time. Even so, to deny that there were some fit and finish issues is ridiculous. Hell, the damn sign at the entrance to where the cars are built in Bowling Green... is crooked. I would never ever say a car was bad based on where it was conceived and/or built. I didn't do that here either, so you have issues with other folks who might do that. I'm a fan of all sorts of cars, from all different parts of the globe. You clearly love Corvettes. That's great. You also clearly get bent out of shape when someone points out issues that folks may have had with past versions, and how the car is/was (unfortunately or unfairly perhaps) viewed by the rest of the world.
