There are two recalls. One for the programming on the airbags and one for the seat belts. GM just released the stop sales they had on them for a few months until they could fix the unsold units. I need to take mine in for this now.

The Charger was due for an update in appearance, but I don't believe they went in the right direction with it. To say that I can't keep up with the times because I don't like the appearance of an upgraded car is just ridiculous. Clearly this is a case of agreeing to disagree.

oldtwins It's really the geniuses at the dealerships that do this, and it's been this way since the 80's. Dealers know that americans in general can't drive stick, so some just don't bother ordering sticks for their lots. That being said, I've been watching the inventories at my local dealers, and a car identical to the one in this review lasted only a few weeks. The slushboxes sit around for months. Right now there is 1 manual SS in black for a metropolitan area of 3.5 million.

oldtwins Hes right, but also when you order a car you can dictate terms and still get money off MSRP. As long as the dealer is making some money they will go for it...so do your research and then just email or call several dealers to see who would like your business for an ordered SS with the options you want.

+oldtwins Actually, I and 91% of car buyers 'want' auto. There's a few manuals out there if you want it, but large car makers give the MAJORITY what they want. A small minority is often SOL. Do you have to pay a premium? Oh well, then those 'Ivy League Geniuses' are pretty smart after all.

With "appliance cars", the automatic transmission is a given, but this is a sports sedan appealing to a different demographic, with a goal to sell 3000 annually. GM does itself no favors by offering 90% of these cars with automatics, when the demographic wants a higher percentage of manuals.

hypocycloidiaspora There MAY be a higher percentage of folks wanting manual in this demographic than outside of it, or it simply be a higher percentage complaining online. I wager it's the latter. But oddly, GM hasn’t really used the SS as a marketing tool to elevate the image of the Chevrolet brand. And why would they? They have the Chevrolet Corvette to fill that role." Want this much power and four doors? Then most likely you'll get yourself an automatic and be happy. Most folks would be happy because no matter what people say, 99.99999% of car buyers and drivers out there will NEVER be able to take full advantage of the manuals marginal benefits (driving wise) over the automatic. As far as the $1,500 gas guzzler tax on a $50K car? You negotiate the sale of the car to more than compensate for it.

colderbeer they are not cheap but a good GXP with low miles is around 26k which is half the price of the SS although the GT with the 6.0 is just little bit cheaper and looks as good as the GXP

crazy wheel Bought my G8 GT 3+ years ago for $23.5k. Love it. I'll probably replace the struts soon and keep it for another 30k miles before trading up. Such a great car.

crazy wheel The g8 was a 2006 Holden Commodore and SS is a 2013. You're basically favouring the old one.

Not faster but The R spec 5.0 Hyundai genesis sounds nice .. 429hp-420hp for the new ones I think they dropped the R model.. But its a heavy mofo even heavier than this guy I believe somewhere around 4200lbs.. Just wish they would trim some weight off these cars. I mean the CLA AMG makes 355hp on a 4 cylinder and its all wheel drive.. Curb weight is between 3450-3600 depending on options. That's a little better in the weight area.. Just wish it had a little more power. Still not bad 0-60 in 4.4.. I like that the camaro has shaved what some 200-250 lbs of its heavy azz.. But look at what ford did.. They increased the weight of the mustang.

***** have you been inside a CLA? The back seat is damn-near useless. Fun car to drive but calling it a "sedan" is kind of a joke. Tgr hyundai is appreciably slower and more expensive.

hikeskool Yea I like the CLA look wise though.. I really like the motor in the Hyundai but yea its slower.. Then again its a heavy azz and I don't know the gearing on it either.. The 5.0R was the performance model but I think they cut it.. But it wasn't that much more I think it was around 50+ the SS starts at what 45+.. Still.. I think the CLA is around the same price range as well. Im crossing my fingers they will put the new DIT 2.0 turbo in the sti within the next two years... meh..

Kevin Marquez It's not all about raw power. Yes, a 707HP Hellcat can beat an SS in a straight line, but put them on a track, or any road with turns quite frankly, and the SS will out-handle the Hellcat any day of the week. So much so that MotorTrend, in the middle of their Hellcat Charger article, interjected with a huge plug for the SS, basically pissing on Chrysler.

Well I strongly disagree that GM's Chevy SS can really beat the Hellcat's handling and steering control on corners in the track or on high mountain corners. Haven't you heard what SRT Performance Pages are?

Kevin Marquez Willow Springs 2014 Chevrolet SS: 1:25.71 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat: 1:26.87 Both driven by Randy Pobst. And that's just the 2014 SS, without Magnetic Ride Control. One second slower than a car with almost 300 less HP.

Kevin Marquez God, you suck. Trying handling a poorly-balanced, 4,600-pound, 700bhp brick around a track. Only a performance car neophyte would believe any of these hellcats are good at anything other than highway pulls.

+Steve Kioussis No you wouldn't. Audi S4 starts at almost $50k without any options. You can get a used M3 for around that price if you're lucky enough to find one that low around you, but it's idiotic when people compare new car prices to used car prices. You could pick up a new 2014 SS that hasn't been sold yet for around $37k now... $47k isn't crazy. It's right on par with where the vehicle should be priced, but people can't look past the exterior styling. Oh well, their loss.

Until you come up against a 725hp supercharged one which you will watch as it disappears to the horizon.

Or the name it was already given under HOLDEN would have been much better.
