I'M A UNION PACIFIC AND SOUTHERN PACIFIC MODERN ERA MODELER . AND ASIDE FROM THE LA MESA MODEL RAILROAD CLUB LAYOUT, THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST MOST REALISTIC HO LAYOUT I'VE SEEN ON RU-vid. "I LOVE THE STRUCTURES" MUCH RESPECT TO YOU SIR. GOD BLESS OUR HOBBY.
I just stumbled on this video. This is one gorgeous, inspiring layout. The depictions of the various modern day businesses, stores and strip malls with their appropriate signage is fantastic. Further, we all know what those tractor trailer models and other vehicles cost, not to mention all the structures, signals, detail parts, etc. The time (and money) it requires to amass all this is truly something special. The video is well done, too. Nice, calm narration, with ample dead air for viewers to merely take in all the glorious detail. Per, your dedication to this project is enviable. You are a credit to the hobby.
As a fellow Texan, I would like to say that you have done an amazing layout, and your attention to detail is superb. This was a true pleasure to watch.
This is easily one of the most spectacular layouts I have ever seen. It's amazing what can be done in such a vast space. It's a real inspiration to me. I also model Union Pacific but am limited to a small room measuring 10 feet by 12 feet and model in N-scale.
WOW! This layout leaves me speechless. The scenery is spot on, I felt like I was back in Texas. You sir are a Master... I can only imagine what a layout would look like if you and Pelle Soeborg put your skills together!
Just the best I have seen in modeling Layout not overly tracked as many want every inch of layout with trains. You keep the proportions well for viewing as if we are there. Just fantastic job. My favorite layout seen yet.
What a magnificent layout! Your track plan, workmanship, backdrops, structures, scenes, execution - exquisite! I love the modern theme, the open feel of the layout, your concept, and the very clever ways you tied backdrop photos into your city scenes. Bravo!
Good work! Great all around balance of electronics, backdrop, structures, scenery, rails, and highways. Great attention to detail on all phases which results in a very, very realistic looking railroad. Very fun touring/watching your layout, thanks!
Wow! This is amazing. Great mention of Crowley! I love Crowley and Rayne both for trains; whenever I visit Louisiana, I always stay in a B&B in Rayne directly across the street from the tracks downtown. I am pleased you like Central Texas rails so much. You ever visited Bellville, TX? It's a great railroad town. I also really love grade crossings. I like seeing so many of them incorporated into your layout.
Sir, I've been doing HO for 34 years and I'm good, very good. After viewing your work, well I bow to you sir. I will be starting a new layout within the next 6 months and look forward to buying some of your products. My friend has just gotten into modeling and I've been using your work as an example of the right way of modeling for him to study. One question, how do you balance cost with obtaining the high standard you've achieved? I can tell you layout value is very high by the level of detail.
Your layout is awesome, the scenery looks so real, the crossing gates are wonderful, makes my layout look bad, makes me want to start all over, keep up he great work and if you have any how to videos or a web-site love to see then, love the grass and weeds you put in makes everything look real...
Thank you so very much, a perfect presentation. Fantastic backdrops. It seems that streets are the Achille's tendon of so many modelers and yours are as well done as any I have seen. I've subscribed and will be watching for each video you present. Now, on to your website. Thank you so much.
Can't get enough of this layout! You ever thought about doing one of those car systems like Faller? I think with all your roads, and HI ways it would bring it too the next level.
Per, your layout is amazing! I've watched all of your videos since subscribing a few days ago. I hope as you complete your layout that you will post some of your scenery techniques as the results you achieve are the best I have seen! Thanks for posting your videos!!
Wooow....What a Tremendous Layout...and the realism of modeling such "simple aspects", buildings and often over real details...!!!..I am currently caught between N and HO for re-entry to RR ing...You are Very persuasive to HO. Your Co. Site is off the Hook and extremely well done. You will be seeing my name again soon. Mark Gotham N. Ca.
Just terrific. I like your safety devices in front of one of the grain elevators to which workers get tethered for loading grain hoppers. I need to make one.
YOU ARE AN AMAZING MODELER!! I STRIVE FOR DETAIL AND YOU BLOW ME OUT OF THE PARK!! KEEP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING, YOU ARE GIFTED. ENJOY THE VIDEO.....................
I am fascinated by your model and its trains I am a fan of yours I hope and one day have mine keep uploading more videos like those greetings from Mexico
superb job on the tour- loved every minute of it! I perform in Lake CVHarles at the Isle de Capri Casino with Derryl Perry- you should come out on March 12th- we will talk trains while im on break!
Amazing layout man!!! You've given me a lot of inspiration and ideas for my modern ho scale layout! This is by far some of the best track work and detailing i've ever seen and I love all the fast food restaurants and stores you have. I have some of the same BLMA pieces on my layout, I like that you use the modern already built stuff and that everything doesn't have to be scratch built on your layout i'm the same way. Be sure to post more videos when you get more of the landscaping done!
u have an awesome layout, you have a awesome diagram of electronics, everything on top is really cool, rolling stock and locomotive's, and detailed to the max😉😎 my compliments sir, I'd like to see it though I may never leave 🤣
Fantastic job on the design for operation, and the construction is superb. Please share in magazines when you have the time. By the way, what is your line of work you retired from ? Living on the lowly salary of a mechanical engineer, I can only dream of owning a home again some day. My 25' x 23' layout which was about to be completed next year, is now being dismantled and put into permanent storage, because so few jobs were available as an engineer within an hour of my house. I now have to rent out my home, while living out of boxes in an apartment 4 hours away.
Wow this is probably the best layout I've ever seen. Are you a custom builder? Your modeling skills are perfect. Don't see any passenger stations where maybe a Amtrak train such as the Heartland Flyer, or Sunset Limited etc could pass through.....very good job!
Per, Everyone has commented how real your layout looks. My question is: All the various cars and trucks, that are shown, really add to the layout. Could you provide the website/s that you get them from? Thanks.
I buy vehicles whenever I find them, so they came from many sources and train shows. But most of what's available from all brands can be found at a webstore, American Excellence: www.american-excellence.com/index.php?p=news
Nice layout. I've got to show mine too. I have some of your buildings and every building has interior with over 3,000 led lights. I'm just having trouble with the crossing gates coming down correctly. Should post within a year (still working at my job and raising two kids).
Very nice job on your layout. Could you film a video with all the signals in operation (including the block signals, and the spur lines (especially the 1960's era grade crossing)). Also, could you film a video in the dark with the streetlights running. New subscriber here.
+Summit Model Trains, I am very familiar with the Trinity River myself. I live in the DFW metroplex, and my house is not too far from the Trinity River in Dallas, and Fort Worth.
Pardon my French pard but, that is one Hell of a layout you got there my friend! I was more than impressed halfway thru this video, then you kept going & I couldn't believe my eyes. I've seen plenty of fantastic layouts on here but I think you just topped them all with this set-up! What do you figure the linear footage is of all the track you got running on that layout? Yes Sir, that is one mighty fine looking & very realistic layout to be sure! Thanks for the great video presentation.
I have to say you have a wonderful layout! God bless you for being able to operate a layout like that because I'd have trains crashing into each other with one even half that size. I wanted to ask you about the lumber loads on the centerbeam cars at the Coleman transload facility towards the end of the video. Did you make the lumber loads yourself or are they from a manufacturer? They look great and I'd love to have them for the lumber distributor on my railroad. Thanks for sharing this tour of your layout. Very inspiring...
Amazing work. I love all of the detail. I do have a couple of questions, where did you find your vehicles? Especially your Semis what brand and scale are they? Where did you find your Buildings too? What brand are they? Thank you, and I look forward to seeing more.
Thanks Matthew. The vehicles are from all over the place, where ever I could find them, but you will have most luck on www.american-excellence.com or www.3000tous.com. Most of the 18-wheelers are Trucks 'n Stuff which I got from www.modeltrainstuff.com. The modern buildings you see are my own brand, you can find them on my website www.summit-customcuts.com and you can find a video catalog on my channel here on RU-vid: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xWwoezm80UE.html
+The Conrail Inkling I make all the modern buildings you see on the layout, you can get them as kits or built-up on my website www.summit-customcuts.com
This is absolutely Beautiful! I have seen tons of layouts Via RU-vid,But this takes the cake! Look forward to the next video, and I Really look forward to seeing the street running!I know that you get alot of questions but I wanted to ask,do you scratch build your own buildings? Thank you for showing this!
+Mark Turner Hi Mark, thanks for your kind comments. All the modern Buildings you see are kits that I make and sell through my website and selected dealers. If you go to my RU-vid channel there are more videos and a link to the website
Summit model train videos I will do that. Very cool. I am glad that I ran across ya. The more modern buildings will fit onto my layout when I get started.
