When many people are going crazy for Lamborghini, ferraris, and all other sports cars..., 2015 RAV4 is all that on my mind.. Oh God I loveeeeeeeeeeeeee it.
Comfort is a big factor for cars. A car can have great numbers for everything and look great but if you don't want to drive it because it isn't comfortable it diminishes its uses.
the new Rogue might have a better looking/feeling interior, but that usually just mean they'd probably cut corners in some other areas. like it uses a plastic intake manifold now, for example.
Bought this car after 2 months of heavy research. For what you are paying and getting in return (toyota's reliability,AWD, under 30k...) , there's no other car like it. Unless you want to take chance at Kia/Hyundai. Loving the car so far...
So, few car reviewers ever address reliability and Canadian winter (salt road conditions) wear. What the RAV4 doesn't offer compared to the competitors it makes up for in reliability and resistance to Canadian salty conditions. RAV4 & CR-V are tops in this area. Once you own a vehicle that's in the garage every 6-9 months reliability is worth its weight in gold and to hell with all the bells and whistles. I'm talking about YOU Chevrolet (piece of garbage).
Love your reviews, Motormouth Canada. I like that you put the vehicle in context, give some history, and explain what the wife/kids thought about it. Very thoughtful reviews.
I loved mine till every time it rains I get water BEHIND passenger seat in back on the carpet! Driving me crazy . Took it to dealer no luck utube has a million cars with this issue ! Yes I have a SUNROOF never again I will have one of those. I have tried to clean it out no luck. Praying for an honest mechanic
My father has a 2013 model which is exactly the same as this one, although his is only FWD. Overall, I like the vehicle. It's comfortable, maneuverable, has adequate power to cart the family around, gets decent fuel economy, etc. What I really don't like is the choppy and even bouncy suspension over broken pavement as well as the horrible electric assist steering. The steering has no feel whatsoever and I find it requires constant minute corrections while cruising at highway speeds. It gets really annoying really fast!
One of the better reviews that I have had seen in a while. Very detailed, fully understandable, with the use of technical terminology at a minimum, and you enunciate! Thank you! Looking to get this soon.
We sold our 2007 Rav4 and got a 2013 Rav4 XLE AWD two years ago for the wife and so far there's no issue but the ride is kind of choppy and even bouncy over broken pavement. Also, I wish Toyota should have put those ECO, PWR buttons higher because when I use it, I usually put it in power mode for better pickup since the neutral mode feels sluggish. We get about 27 MPG so not too bad.
I just recently bought a 2015 Toyota RAV4 it's an excellent vehicle I love it smooth ride stands up well the winter conditions as far as SUVs go it's one of the favorite vehicles I've ever bought. I love my RAV4 I only hope that one day when I have to do another trade in in the future that I'm fortunate enough to get my hands on another one. :)
The Jeep is nice too but undeniability, the Toyota has a such a good reputation for quality. On another topic, in my province, if a police officer deems that you have a plate cover like the one from the video, you get a fine of $50. Even a transparent one like the one on the RAV4. I got fined.
With regards to the comments about the heavy cargo hatch and lack of alloy on the XLE. The limited version does come equipped with a power lift gate, as well as alloy wheels. I wish they still have the v6, which they have done away with for this new design.
Toyota's have always had dubious interiors - I test drove a 2012 Rav4 and the adjustment for the power mirrors was under the centre armrest ( WTF? ) - I see that has long gone but they seem about 3 years behind the pack....
i know in this day and age fuel economy is king, but i still miss the v6, having driven the old one with that engine before. with 4 adults and a cargo bay full of costco purchases the 4cyl. was just not keeping up =(
Had a 04 an 09 RAV4 loved them got a 2013 what a POS with that Eco and sport mode gas mileage sucked never got anything more than 22 on the HWY and 19 in the city . When I would take it to the mountains/ country never of road gas mileage would get even worse, it struggled up hill got rid of it and bought 2015 4Runner SR5 couldn't be happier .
I guess fuel mileage is not an issue to complain about as going in a 4.0 V6 4Runner is not gonna get your hopes up to be a great mpg vehicle. I guess that is why they make hybrids with the RAV4’s.
Does anyone with an iPod have trouble with the audio system crashing causing you to hard reset the iPod?? This always happens & the Toyota dealership don't know why this happens. Please let me know if anyone 2015 RAV4 owner with an iPod has a similar problem. I own a 2012 Toyota Corolla and the iPod rarely crashes.
Why Japanese companies still using these cheap looking, non matching buttons since 90s in weird places? It is like they know it is cheap looking so they put them to places where you can not see unless you bend over or look for it? The problem is they use different buttons for almost everything among their line up and when it comes to optional buttons they end up using generic buttons. I don't get it. For example why don't they design a beautiful climate control unit and use it among the line up?
Drove a 2014 and the ride is unbelievably harsh for a brand new car! Also drove a 2010 Matrix and feels the same except Rav-4 is bigger. Acceleration was adequate for both cars and despite the Matrix having a 1.8L engine, the Rav-4 sounds the same with the 2.5L. Both cars are loud during normal driving in the city at about 40 to 60 km/h and Matrix was super bad on highways. Both interiors feel cheap and the door slam on both is horrid; tinny, thinly made sheetmetal that won't last. I suggest driving for yourself and I am telling the truth.
Toyota refreshed the Rav4 by getting rid of the muscular V6. I predict its sales will drop as compared to the '06 - '13 models. Just like GM, Toyota will try to build dull cars and wonder why their sales go south...
Nice review. I rented one a while back... here are my thoughts: * The viewing angle on the stereo is utterly terrible, even when there is no sun to wash it out. * The satin trim and plastic bits kept shinning bright light/sun into my eyes * Under heavy acceleration, the car was jerky. I think the A/C kept cycling on and off. * The dash looks nice, but why would they design it so that the buttons are hidden? * The middle of the hood vibrated on the freeway -- like it was flimsy, or something. * The stitching on the driver's seat was heavily worn, by the door, and it looked like was going to give out well before the useful life of the vehicle. * The IIHS small overlap test is horrific. * The steering became quite hard to turn during tight maneuvers. Overall a decent car, but it has with too many flaws to spend my own money on, in my opinion. Especially considering the IIHS crash test.
Show Me What I Need To Know Took it for a test drive and noticed the same thing with the hood...it seems like the metal is too thin and it vibrates even at lower speeds. They told me it just needed an adjustment...I kind of doubt it now that I've heard it from another person. The ride was not all that smooth either.
franz wetrfres how is 2015 ? Does it have any flaws cuz my dad wants to buy one but i dont want to go through what i went through with my dodge 2015 jus to fill up gas it takes abt 90$ full tank:(
I have one and i dont like it the material they use is very cheap plastic there are alot of scratches on the interior and the steering wheel color started to faed its not worth the price
Yet, they last forever unlike American shit that breaks down after 5 years. I feel happy that every day my truck and my wife's car will turn on and not break down in the middle of the road. I still remember driving fords or chevy's and I had to pray to see if it would get me to my destination.
Phu Doan fuck that I will stay with Japanese cars that will last longer like Nissan Honda and Toyota!! It was a 2009 and we will never buy one again. And if you are saying that Fiat is better no they're not. They're actually worse than what the actual Chrysler was.
Test drove a used 2015 model yest. 9-25/17 Just to compare to my 2013 Ford Escape 1.6 turboMy take overall, the Toyota lost hands down ! Non-comfortable seat and I hated the way it handled also the ride felt willowy it was scary on HWY fast curves. I now luv my Escape even more..........................
Incredible that you don’t even mention that the comfort of the suspension is shit ... I had Matrix & Vibe before and the suspension was softer and the steering wheel easier to turn . My gf has one now and I can still compare .My jaws are jarring when I come back to my Rav4 . Seem to be a problem on all '13 -'18 Rav .
@@jgg204 ''improved the suspension'' Just the shocks & coils ? or all the arms , cause if it's only the coil & shock , maybe there a cure for mine . I'm allready on 16'' wheels to make the drive a little softer.
@@martinmartin5904 just struts and coils were changed. you can go and buy aftermarket stuff to make the ride better as well. with regards to steering wheel, the RAV4 has one of the loosest steering wheels on the market, they intentionally made the electronic steering control very easy for women to turn the wheel. maybe there is something wrong with your electronic steering?
@@martinmartin5904 the RAV4 has a lighter steering wheel than all of my previous vehicles: honda civic, subaru forester, subaru outback, jeep wrangler, everything, literally everything. if you think the RAV4 steering wheel is heavy....go check out a 2012 Honda Accord lol.
I'd walk before I bought a Hyundai or Kia. Here's a challenge for you........ Drive a 5 year old Kia and then drive a five year old Toyota. Anyone can make a vehicle "seem" good during the first year. Let's look at a little longer term. Reminds me of buying a Chinese portable generator over a Honda or Yamaha generator.
I get rid of this one diesel engines do problems, now we have 2 Kia Sorento 2.2 diesels ...best cars we ever had and we had several cars ....Kia leaves the Toyotas for dead.
the Toyota had the best design before I really like them but the 2015 model look very ugly and not attractive the suspension looked so high I think the Nissan have took over with the beauty designed and equipment of theirs cars
"If your woman that's trying one of these vehicles to see if you find the tailgate a little too heavy" I'm sorry but me being a woman doesn't make me weaker. Your strength depends on the individual, not on the gender.
+Katie Pate and plenty of middle easterners are terrorists... see. that logic is faulty. a man will develop muscle far more easily then a woman, and the strongest 20% Will always be men. men also have a larger lung capacity. i really don't know why women have this argument. It's literally scientific fact. men, in general and statistically are much stronger.
+driverv86 I understand what you're saying, and you are correct in most cases. But some women ARE stronger than some men. All men are not stronger than all women. I'm stronger than half the men in my life! So, sexual dimorphism is a fact but what's also a fact is some women are strong as hell (stronger than some men). That's all I'm saying. You're coming off as hella sexist and I'm just trying to let you know that there are some women who are not "weaker" than men.
Katie Pate I don't care what I come off as. The reviewer was generalizing, which for the most part is accurate. Are there some women out there stronger than me? Hell yes. Are 95 percent of men stronger than the same amount of women? Hell yes. The only reason I replied is because every time someone makes an accurate generalization there's always someone in the wings complaining 'but that doesn't actually apply to meeeee.'
cars from toyota canada or vw canada have ontario plates, because that' s where they're insured, it doesn't mean it's recorded there. When i worked at audi, we got the first R8 come in with ontario plates, and we're in vancouver
Very stiff and harsh. when you hit an uneven pavement anything above 5 inch, you will hear a sudden BANG as if your shocks are broken. The car rides very bouncy and I swear it frustrates the hell out of me because this is the type of thing that you wont know during the test drives unless if your salesman just happens to take you around a rougher type roads.
1- thanks for the input. 2- may i suggest- when buying a car, try to rent one first. that's what i do. you can essentially rent the car as long as you want IF the car you are buying is available for rent. if i decide to buy the toyota, i will rent one first. may i also suggest the consumer affairs complaints website. it will tell you everything people are complaining about for the particular model in question. 3- i rented the MAZDA CX5 and found it to be equally as BOUNCY as you had described. the bigger problem is -MAZDA cannot keep transmissions in their cars . neither can they keep transfer cases in their 4wd/awd crossovers. no thanks. honda has battery discharge issues ( probably alternator diodes ) many people complain about throttle response jerkyness and idle speed vibrations. ford escapes catch on fire from a brake fluid leak and rust badly in the rear fenders and under the rear gate. so again- thanks for the input.
you do realise not even a Rolls Royce would be able to completely smooth out a 5 inch pothole in the road right? 5 inches is almost half a foot, are you sure you meant inches?
