removed mine on my moded lt1, scrapped too much in LA, no trouble with rust and its been 3 years. If you scrape one off might aswell remove both. If your worried ab airflow there are plenty of other mods that do better for your car.

Good info. A lot of owners may not know what thats for. I used to have a C5 Corvette and since there was no grill, they have a huge one of those guiding the air under the car to cool the engine off. A ton of owners didn't know that and took it off....just to discover their car overheating. So now I pay attention to all of those and find out what they do.

+z06reznor Yeah, on the vettes it was super important to leave them on.

Great video with actual useful information. Too many videos are all "bla, bla, bla" with absolutely no information. I learned something from your video, so thanks! Now I need to decide whether or not I want to replace mine at a cost of about $70 just to tear them again or not. Now that I know more about them, it will make deciding easier...

I had the same problem of the air dam grabbing on to something and pull partially loose. I'm going to rip it the rest of the way off since I won't be driving 100 mph to even notice the difference.

I ripped my driver’s side air deflector off q3 days ago rolling over some tire tread road debris and I just bought a new one from GM yesterday. They seem trivial in design and for the average everyday driver, they’d probably never notice the difference in how the car handles because they aren’t tracking it. I just went ahead and replaced it because for aesthetic and reasons of principle. GM incorporated them into the car’s design for a reason, so they’re obviously functional but also because they complete the the front bumper assembly. Overall I love my car and I frequently hit 100mph to experience some adrenaline. What I must say is the car handles exceptionally well at those speeds so I presume that some of that stability is attributable to the air deflectors. I’d hate for the next owner to not be able to fully enjoy “The Camaro SS experience “ due to missing parts. I also think it’s very tacky when people dog out and decide against maintaining their vehicles. Cars drive better when they are being properly maintained. I personally think that my car drives better after a wash and oil change. Maintain the exterior of your vehicle and it’ll reward you with reliability

Third fen uses an air dams single piece in the center of the bottom my car doesn't have it but I put a custom heat extractor on the hood to remove air to prevent lift and it's a heat extractor too so I'm good on that aspect but typically when you don't have it I've seen a few forum posts where people do overheat or are too hot. I also got planned to upgrade the radiator and put double fans too. Plus if I had the air dam I feel like it would scrape on my steep driveway since that nose is really long which when you got your angle of approach causes the front ground effect to scrape another reason I'm not lowering my car any more thing scrapes on a lot of places lol.

THANK YOU . . . . I scraped SOMETHING while quickly leaving my driveway one day and I THOUGHT I caught the front "chin" spoiler (splitter) ... TRUST ME ... I checked the car with a fine toothed comb but couldn't find what scrubbed the ground . . . . . . now I know ... I feel a bit better (didn't want to scuff & scrape up the front splitter)

Thanks again for the info Matt. I put them on my 2LT and I do like the look. They came installed on my 50, but so did the splitter. I am wondering about how they will perform in heavy snowfall,(clearance), and as I rarely go fast enough to need them, I will probably remove them. Thanks.

You would notice it slightly if you know how to feel for it. Like the Corvette, the G Force Crosshair would differ slightly to various degree of order. Take the Air Dam off and you will notice a slight dip in g force. G force would be less without the dams on because the car is now getting slightly more lift and thus not fully planted on the road.

Hoping you can help me by telling me what bolts/screws/ rivets I need to get this back on because it's just hanging being held up by each corner but the entire center is dangling. I'm afraid to rip corners off and the piece itself just needs to be re attached. I have a lil stock/basic 2014 Camaro LS coupe V6. Haven't been able to drive it for days now until I fix this. Don't know how i'm going to but at least if I know what bolts I need I can see if I can get under there and use screwdriver. Thank you!!!!

I lowered my Camaro and feel like having the air dams as the first thing to scrape is better than scraping my shiny splitter piece. The air dams are just rubbery pieces that return back to shape.

I have scuffed mine on parking stops have to really watch clearance on that front end. best bet is back in using csmera. will remove mine this fall when I SCCA race just to get more air to the brakes!

Don't the wheels also get cooling from gaps in the front fascia that directs air into the wheel wells? If so, then I can see the reasoning for having those parts for overall aerodynamics.
@Lethalgarage
@Lethalgarage 8 лет назад
+Eric Johnson They do. But you get even more air from the track pack rotor pieces.
@quick99ws6
@quick99ws6 8 лет назад
I believe these also are to keep large amounts of water off the brakes and calipers. From the manual: After a track event, remove the tall deflector and the small splash shield and reinstall the original deflector and splash shield. Failure to reinstall the original parts may lead to corrosion, loss of output, noise, premature brake pad and rotor wear, reduced high-speed wet braking, and damage to the tall deflector.

I don't like the way they look. I think after installing the fascia on my wife's car it lowered them a little bit more too.
