My 2016 Altima usually (simulates) the changed gears whenever I drive so I was a little worried about buddy's transmission.

Lolol what’s so amazing about the CVT 😂 and I know she’s not fast at all, but quicker than the base motors in a lot of its competition. My 19’ Vc-turbo is way quicker same Cvt.

Lmao nah 😂 You just have to let them warm up a few mins, drive lightly 5 mins or so then you can do whatever. CVT services every 30-60k miles depending on driving habits/conditions are a factor as well. Any vehicles needs all of these services for long term reliability. Traded this one with 116k 04/22 and the next owner has it at 154k 2 weeks ago.

Yeah it’s a CVT. Most Nissans will hold redline to give full power if you punch it from a stop. If you floor it regular it will simulate shifts. 📢🐢__________💨💨💨

Lol Neh it just doesn’t simulate shifts providing constant max power. Not something I’d do all the time, but it won’t hurt every once in a while when you feel like it. It’s not different then flooring it while simulating still puts Cvt in lowest ratio for max power you just don’t get the fake shifts.

For me I haven’t had any Cvt problems...I did see a video where someone’s brake switch was malfunctioning so the Altima wouldn’t accelerate

My 16’ did that too it was originally the exhaust manifold/cat, but after that was replaced the flex pipe started vibrating on cold starts. Nothing engine or transmission related simply all exhaust problems.

Happened to my 2015 as well. It’s the heat shield above the cat. Get 1 or 2 radiator clamps to wrap around it and tighten them down as much as possible. Problem fixed 👍🏽

Thank you folks. Got mine checked a few days ago. Like you said, it was the pipe/heat shield issue. The old clamps worn out, so it starts rattling. Installed new ones, problem solved. 👍🏼

I’m thinking it might’ve helped it get to redline quicker, but usually when it holds one ratio I wouldn’t think would make a difference. You’re right though 🤔 Just traded her in with 116k miles for a 22’ Vc-turbo Rogue last night.

@@O.11jonah let me explain: from a stop, the cvt is slow because it has to build up the revs. But once it does it keeps its maximum power output the whole time.

The CVT has no gears in reality so it’s almost like a go-kart. However they do have programmed simulated shifts for this car was 7spd. I chose to punch it as fast as I can making it not simulate to give me the maximum power.

From a standstill if you floor it very quickly it’ll hold the ratio instead of simulating. This provides the maximum power possible. It also doesn’t simulate if you lose traction from low speeds.

So sorry I am just now seeing this! I did not do it myself I don’t trust myself quite enough yet. Nissan charged me $220 it’s typically $2-300.

Just watched the video again, it was on sport mode and considering the REMs .. I don’t believe it was.

@@hotwheelsdiecastcollector No lol…It’s a CVT (continuous variable transmission). Think of it like a go-kart, where you put your foot is what the engine does. More power? Step harder for instantaneous response no gear hunting. Simply press & go…however Nissan did add “simulated shifts” to make it feel like a traditional automatic, but the ratios do not slow the vehicle down like a traditional auto it’s continuous acceleration throughout each fake shift.

It’s a Cvt and Nissans Cvt let’s you simulate or if you floor it fast enough it’ll hold on ratio to give you max power.

Its in the name CVT=Continuously Variable Transmission, RPM stays the same but the final drive ratio gets longer as speed increases.

You just punch it as fast as you can (literally) only from stop though

@@DrscammerRacingrush2 Idk they’re pretty solid if you actually maintain them. My buddy occckid123 has about 450k on his 16’ 2.5 Altima. Original CVT just needed new engine around 400k. His 19’ 2.5 has 180k + miles.
