Best drivers car? Oh sure, because there are SO MANY people who will be able to afford to drive this... A drivers car, by definition, should be attainable. You guys need to update the rules. Also, putting a professional driver behind the wheel and lapping SECA, has nothing to do with everyday drivers and owners.

"Not a corvette yet." It never will be. Cadillac's are still known for there luxurious interior, and there beautiful ride. Don't get me wrong, driving them on the track CAN be done. But how many people buy this car and take it out on the track?

What ever happened to the CTS-V review. I had to watch everyone elses craptastic review but none my preferred AutoJo's had it. Matt Farrah was absent on it, I'm not a fan of chris harris so I didn't even check, you guys didn't have it and I ended watching some random old dude try to tell me how awesome it was with no figure 8, no REAL 0-60 where the tester attempts to destroy the car the get the fastest 0-60 time they can, and no Randy driving it afterwards to let bring in some 10/10s perspective. I see it's faster than shit!! But where's the review for it? Something I meant to ask...why is Randy always turning off all of the controls in these GM's? I know the ZR1 was faster with the controls...I'm not saying that's the case here but would this car touch 1:37 if he left it on? I'm just curious because that's already a really fast car. I imagine cadi put in some flight systems to make it even better.

I wish you would have stuck with audio more consistent with what the camera angle was. Or even just stuck with one sound position all together. We get it, car is fast, can sound good... etc. But how about a lap or atleast some turns from inside the car without cuts to external raw noise.

Is it actually hard to push the pedal? Sounds like a little more vacuum assist would be in order...

Well that time is faster than the BMW m4 from last year the Alfa Romeo 4c and the Jaguar f-type. All on the same track same driver at motor trends 2014 best drivers car hot laps. Very well done Cts-v, a 2 ton 4 door sedan just trounced 3 purpose-built sports cars. And done with an automatic transmission and steel breaks; the BMW has carbon ceramics and a dual clutch.

just cause it has a vette engine doesn't mean it's supposed to be a corvette. it is a Cadillac. and a pretty bad a** one at that.

As great as that time is I think the brakes were trashed probably had another second to gain overall.

Just a little over a second faster than the ATS-V... I thought the CTS-V would be a little quicker around the track than that, also both the CTS-V & ATS-V seemed to suffer from the same brake issues so it must be a flaw in the mechanical design & not a mechanical failure.. Think I'd have to go with the ATS-V since the CTS has jumped in weight class...

It looks to me like a "stealth wealth" commuter car. I'm sure it's very fun to drive, but it looks so dreary and bland on the outside. Like a Camry or Civic.You could never brag about it because everybody would assume it has some ponderous little V8 in it like the older Caddies. You would have to explain it, which automatically makes it uncool.

That's one of the best shows on MT Channel and for those of us who REALLY are into cars and engineering and are willing to suffer the BS answers from Ford and the Substantive competitiveness of GM, people's biases and all of the negatives that come with dealing with the "people" aspect. WOT was hands down the best show on the channel because it was SUBSTANTIVE BEYOND BELIEF! Especially with Lang out of the picture. The ATS-V has zero brake cooling issues, i don't think the pedal travel is heat related.

That's how I see it thus far. and the cts-v is my favorite. That's the one that would win my money all day long, like the ATS but I'm not a coupe guy.

Cadillac chose Michelins for CTS-V and ATS-V. Why not stay with that awesome Pirelli RF from the CTS V-sport? Oh, because that Pirelli RF is made out of lies, racoon farts, and landfill? I drive a '15 V-sport, with front tires shot @ 7,000 miles. Dozens of other V-sport owners have the same problem, according to online forums. Cadillac won't replace my tires bc I lowered my car. Same tire wear as other owners, but I'm out of luck. Alignment's in spec, and springs were purpose-built for CTS' magnetic ride control. Then, with the NEW V models, they switch from Pirelli to Michelin. Coincidence? This shows that Cadillac has split-personality disorder: "New Cadillac" (now a NY-based, global, ultra-luxury brand) assigns a team of race engineers and enthusiasts to build and market performance vehicles to compete w/ zee Germans and Japanese. But when an auto enthusiast buys said performance car, and makes a performance mod, he's voided his warranty. So which is it, Cadillac? Are you a glitzy, customer-focused, performance-oriented luxury brand? Or a nickel-and-diming Big Box interloper? My experience tells me they are the latter. Stay away from Cadillac's V and V-sports unless you're going to leave them totally stock. They are no luxury brand. They are a cost-cutting, publicly traded company who will use a technicality to avoid taking care of a well-known tire problem. Rant over. Yes I know this is a 1st world problem so don't bother.

I HATE the whine you get from supercharged engines. I would rather have the twin-turbo V6 ATS-V. Even better, any of the Dodge products with a naturally aspirated V8. I LOVE the sound of the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger in both the 5.7 HEMI and the 6.4 HEMI versions. At least the CTS-V's supercharger whine is less pronounced than that of the Hellcat's whine.

Only thing I'm bummed about is no manual option.

I ask whats the point of this series THIS year? Why do i ask that? Because if anyone recalls last year they basically told us what car was going to win this year in the final episode when the Camaro won. That is the Porsche 918. In that video they had good things to say about the Camaro but at the end of the episode they pretty much said "hey the Camaro won but......only b/c this car (918) wasn't available at the time" then proceeded to make the Camaro eat the Porsche's shit by showing the hot lap of the 918.

This car deserves carbon ceramic brakes and 335 section tires from the Corvette Z06. With those simple upgrades it would handily beat the Camaro Z/28 around Laguna Seca.

Horsepower gets all attention but its the Torque that wins for true power junkies!

This car is very fast, but the exterior looks a lil bit dated and plain. The a&s design language is getting old. At least they could have used the full led. Would have been much better. I'm sure, the next gen Cadillac will be great in terms of exterior. I love the dash though.

Where do you guys put your microphone for the engine noise during the lap? It just sounds like wooshing air turning on and off... Yet, when the mic switches to Randy making a comment, the engine sounds quite good, so I don't understand the editor's choice to have wooshing instead of actual engine noise.

I'm brazillian my opinion don't care for nothing, here Civic and Corolla are luxury cars, here they coast almost R$100.000...

Even if this doesn't win this, based on what the other mags have said, this car has destroyed its competition on the track while not having the fit and finish issues the ATS had vs its competitors. Even BMW loving Motorweek is saying best in class.

you have to consider the economy as well. if the economy and the price of things these days we're not as crazy as they are you wouldn't see these big jumps in prices. for the money they are asking for this car compared to it's competition I am hoping it wins the Best Drivers Car award

looks too much like an unrefined mercdes to me. Sort of like a mercedes outline of the front before the designers add the detailings. Looks like cadillac got a copy of the outline and said "that's it, looks fine"
