Replaced our original 6 year old Delco battery with a Walmart Everstart H5. Featuring the Harbor Freight Cen -Tech Battery Load tester.

Thank you for this. Our battery died last night in 20 degree weather. For the life of us we couldn't get the battery out and had to be towed home before frost bite hit. In an emergency they certainly didn't make it easy to change.

I hate that they put one of the screws underneath the plastic piece. I had to bend the battery bracket.

I often wonder how stuff like that made it thru the design phase, without someone saying, "hey guys, this is pretty stupid" Were you not able to remove the plastic rivets from the plastic trim, that covered the bracket bolt? They can be a pain.

Hi Brittany. The tool I connected to the battery terminals is a 100amp load tester. Its about $22 at harbor freght. I used my dewalt 20v cordless impact driver to remove most of the nuts. But you could also use a drill motor. I connected a deep well 10mm socket (purple), to a 3/8" socket adapter, then that connects to the dewalt impact driver. The blue plastic tool I used to remove the trim plugs is part of an automotive trim removal kit. All these are also available at harbor freight or Amazon.. And finally, I used a standard straight slot screwdriver to loosen the wire clamps off the battery terminals. I think thats all of them. If you have any other questions let me know! That was certainly helpful. Would never have guessed there were separate posts to jump the battery - thought I had to take off all that computer stuff on top of the battery to get a boost.

Hi, did you have any memory issues aside from the obvious radio stations needing reprogrammed? My wife’s 2015 equinox battery died today and I’ll need to get a replacement tomorrow.
