+Gary Ross Thank you! I tend to lean to the Les Paul style usually. But with the humbucker in this one and the compound radius neck, it has that LP feel. You get up the about the 12th fret and it flattens out...feel like a LP. Maybe the rosewood neck adds that! I don't like maple necks. Really, they sound the same to me, but I don't like the gloss on the neck.

I think it gets some great sounds.

I find this guitar to be very versatile. While it won't ever really sound like a LP, with that Shawbucker you can get a decent humbucker crunch. It's not a real hot pickup and to me it still fits with the other pickups sound wise. The S1 does give some nice sounds. Mainly in the bridge and bridge/middle positions. +D C Thank you. One thing I just realized about the neck is there is no stripe on the back of it/ They must have to put the rod in from the top. I like the Shawbucker and will keep it. It's a good match for the other and still has a "start-like' tone...and not too hot. But i can get that hum bucker crunch. What color did you get?

+Brian Hadley I got the same color as yours. 3 tone burst but a darker tint. Very dark around the edges that transitions to almost a burgundy color. Not really any of the orangey color on it at all.

I like those...if I had been able to find one like that I would have got it. The other new colors didnt do anything for me.

+Brian Hadley I would have liked the white one with the tortoise pick guard if the color was more cream than white. Just a little too bright as it was though.

Thanks! I think it's a great guitar....one of the best Fender has released. For me, the neck is the major improvement with the compound radius and shape from C to D. It's very subtle, but makes a difference. The new pickups are good also. No hum! And not too compressed sounding the way noiseless can be. The way they carved the heel is nice also. It's different than they way they did it on the Deluxe. +Tyler Magnuson thank you! I like the amp a lot. I know many people don't think solid state or modeling amp are any good, but I get positive comments about the tone/sound. I checked out a few SS amps and the Mustang was by far the best sounding one to me. And it does it at a low volume. You have to not use most of the presets. I made my own, and there are some decent ones you can download. But a lot of bad ones also. I think the amp responds like a tube amp if you don't overdo it with the 'pedals'. When played very loud the good tone can begin to get lost. But that has be very loud. The thing is very loud! I don't use a lot of different presets.....I seem to use the same one for each guitar I have. But might change the EQ a little. Duplicate it and make one with more echo or some effect. But with an optional pedal you can control the effects individually ...turning them on or off. I used the Mustang on most the of videos i have on here. Can't beat the price either...plus no pedals to buy! I really like the neck on this guitar also. Between that and the n4 pickups...easily worth the extra money.

I think it would sound the same on most settings. The Shawbucker just adds a thicker crunch tone on the bridge. It's actually a thin sounding humbucker. Which i like for this guitar because it retains the Strat sound.

I got the HSS for the heavier, thicker tones. I have found I don't use the bridge single coil on Strats a lot because they are more thin sounding. The clean tones are the same until you go the bridge and bridge/middle position. You can't bypass the Shawbucker. There is a button you can push in but that gives you the the Shawbucker directly...it bypasses all the volume and tone controls. I never use that feature. The Shawbucker is rather thin though compared to many others. So to me it fits with the guitar. It doesnt suddenly sound like a Les Paul. +Bread Slocum Thanks. It's an E Major scale but then I also drop down into an E. Use a lot of bends. I was playing through a fender Mustang III amp and miked. Using a little reverb.

Thanks! I have a little reverb on it...not a lot of high end. I keep the gain so that when I stop playing or take my hands of the strings there isn't any 'gain' noise.....but its right on the edge. And use the volume knob on the guitar a lot. So for part of this clip I would have it down around 5 or 6 and turn it up when i want a ore aggressive sound.

+John Hardin I like it. It has that humbucker crunch , but doesn't sound out of place on a Strat. It's not too hot, and I use it a lot more than I use a single coil in that position on a Strat. I also like how it sounds with the S1 engaged.

That is a tough one! But a good problem to have. I think for me the thing the Elite has going for it is the neck. I have a PRS Custom 22 and an SE Tremonti. I play the Elite more than those. i love PRS but the Elite seems easier for me to play. But there is the sound difference also. Humbucker or Single coil? The Elite with the humbucker helps but it still has a single coil feel to it. Strats used to be ore like a second guitar to me...until the Elite.

Jürgen Ilg elite is the way to go. For two hundred bucks more you get the S1 switching, a cable, noiseless pickups and all around a better experience.

They still have a compressed sound but there is more Strat sparkle. I like how versatile the guitar is. The S1 system is nice. Yes, it has the Shawbucker. It's a nice pickup...still retains a Strat feel to it, but a little thhinker. I like what it adds to the middle pickup also.

Hi Brian, thanks fot your answer i could found out that our Strat HSS (i have the same in blaze metallic) has the shawbucker 1. I bought a telecaster profesional recently wich has the shawbucker 2 in the bridge and i like it a little bit more altought they are different guitars. I love my strat but i find the shawbucker 1 sometimes like a single coil flavour instead of a humbucker, are you agree? I would like to know your opinion about this shawbucker, thanks in advance

The Shawbucker on this guitar does have a single coil type sound to it. Definitely not like a typical humbucker. But I liked that...it still has a good Strat sound. But not real thin...it has a lot of bite to it. There are times I wouldn't mind it to have a hotter sound though.

Im completely agree with you, in general terms is a very good pickup but sometimes i need more hotter sound from it so i have tu use smooth distorsions like a tube screamer tu push a little bit the signal. However the Shawbucker 2 is hotter enough to work without pedals at least in my case. The perfect guitar doesn´t exist i guess for that reason we have to own severals je je. Thanks Brian

+KP Bandyopadhyay Thanks. I don't have it written out...making it up as I go along. It's a mix of an E major scale...and just a basic blues kind of scale in E. It's the notes from the e major scale that give it that sound.

+Lisa Garland Thanks....this was played through a Fender Mustang III of all things. I use a Sovtek head also that has a good tube sound. But this Mustang is not bad. And it's at a fairly low volume. I just stay away from over processing it with effects and work with the EQ.

Hey Brian, is the Mustang III too much for only homeplaying ?Or better the Fender Blues Junior Lacquered Tweed (15W) ?Can you help me ? Im a beginner but my Marshall Transistor Sound is :-(((The Sound of a Fender tube amplifier is amazing.

I think the Mustang is perfect for home use. In the videos I use it, it's not turned up very loud but gets a great sound. And then its also loud enough for when you may need that some time.
