I am glad that I was able to buy a 2014 Red Commodore/Chevy SS. I had a C6 Corvette before & the Commodore is the only one that is close to my Corvette performance.

I rented one in 2017, even had the choice of white Be red. I choose white. Brilliant car and drive. Can't imagine why you would buy foreign. If only they could change the sound of the blinker, it would be perfect. One drive is worth a thousand road tests.

Final Model FGX has been released yes, but they will be next year releasing a Xr8 sprint and a XR6 Sprint which will be likely using the old FPV F6 running gear. Have been told by a few ford employees, that ford will be defiantly going out with a bang!.

The commodore was a superior handling car from day one with better ergonomics and engine choices. The last car down the line for Holden. An ssv redline, and for HSV, the mighty W1. And like any Ford Holden bloke out there about 40 years old. This is sadder the we dare to think about. I wish the performance division could stay, even with subsidy, but must be Australian owned. Great car for the price, really powerful, more than most people would ever need but they dont sell many compared to other brands like corolla or hyundai i30, i guess most people just want cheap transport. this car would use twice as much fuel as the aforementioned, maybe thats the problem, to be honest i couldnt afford to put fuel in it at that rate either, but a nice dream car would love to test drive it :)
True. But whoever buys this kind of car obviously isn't that concerned about fuel consumption. The best bang for youre buck that Holden has ever released.
I'm guessing that people are so in debt these days with bloated mortgages that they cannot afford these cars. So its premium German saloons for the rich and cheap pacific rim dog meat for the low and middle class.
I've got the older L98 6.0ltr in a VE SS manual and it just makes my balls feel much bigger when I drive it!!......just get one you'll never regret it.
Im thinking of getting one next year. Just not sure on Auto VS Manual gearbox. Is the Auto any good and what would be the better box for the long term and resale value?
update-based a 20percent off deal I could not wait until the end of the year. I've been driving the US version for 3 months with manual and love it. I drive in packed traffic jams in the morning and evening but I still would not trade it for the auto.
When is the last chance to put money down on an ss redline sedan. Please help if you know. I may do it. I dreamed of this car as a kid. Most GMH Brock supporters did. The ss was the one then the VN Clubsport. But the SS was the stuff.

There are many reasons, +Damien Beckett and +MaZEEZaM covered off on a few of them but one of the main ones is that the cars from European and Japanese manufacturers are a much more attractive choice, and offer better performance while using much less fuel. The American car industry can't keep up with the technology and engineering advancements happening in the rest of the world, and even new companies from their own nation such as Tesla.
What is it with Holden and their sports variants ? They spend a fortune on shaping and sleek styling , appearance , then destroy it all by having the cars sitting up like four wheel drives with 6 inches of plug ugly guard clearance . Always been the same . So the customer ends up paying 50 -60 k and having to go lower the car to make it look half decent .... Never understood it ?
Not talking about dumping it in the weeds here , dropping the ride height 1 inch is all it takes , and doesn't make it illegal or a problem on most roads . Bit shit the customer has to drive out of the showroom and go get it done themselves ..
I agree the ride height could be slightly lower but as it already out performs the XR8 in cornering on the track its prob not that necessary. The extra road clearance helps especially with tricky driveways.

It was reviewed at Holden's proving ground, with every road surface imaginable it might be the best place to review a car and you can drift without breaking the law ;)
Sounds like a wet fart. Why can't they have given it the same 340kw as the HSV LS3? It's got less grunt than the VE clubby, and still less torque than an FG XR6T! Over hyped much?
2004PontiacGTO the SSV is 5 seconds faster around any track than the Ford XR8 Sprint. SSV is the full package not just a straight line warrior like the Ford.
Don't be fooled. for all their technical advancements It's business as usual with these Commodores After dropping the best part of 60K on a brand 'NEW' Redline that has yet to clock 5.000k's, it has developed a massive engine oil leak , leaves a foot round oil leak on the drive over night . Another trip back to the dealer for some 'Shit Happens' attitude. Thought buying a new car would give me a break from this sort of crap at least for a couple of years :-(
Depends where the leaks coming from if it's rocker cover, sump, it's pretty much 'Run of the mill' for commodore . All my Commodores in the past have been second hand with average K's on the clock , all had engine oil leaks but nothing major , all serviced properly . I thought maybe this, being a new one, would be free of this sort of issue , at least for a few years , very disappointing .

Mate, you're living in dream land. My stock xr6 turbo with 275's on the rear is still quicker than these things. Nice car all round, but don't pretend it's quick.
