This video was very informative and I gave it a thumbs up. Basically it comes down to which features are more important to the buyer. They are both awesome cars.
My mom bought the 2016 Honda Civic Turbo today and it's awesome! We had a rough choice between the 2017 Toyota Corolla and the Honda which are both great cars but honestly we all feel that we made the best choice. WOOO HONDA!
Great video as always, Laura. I purchased a 2014 Corolla S Plus two years ago and sold it recently. Great little economy car, but I wanted something bigger and with more power. I contemplated an Accord V6, but decided to go with a 2016 Nissan Maxima. For anyone in the market for a nice eco car, both cars shown in this video are terrific choices.
+David Moreno Congrats on the Civic purchase. Keep us all updated on likes and dislikes, our fans love to hear your voice. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year. :)) Honda Laura
+TheSlickkEffect the honda civic also has more power and is stronger feeling then the corolla idk ive never drivin a honda but i really do want that beautiful honda civic i have the corolla 2015..... i love my car though very reliable and very smooth car to drive and very quite motor..... and very comfertable.....
You got it going so far with these reviews, keeping it fresh and using a good camera too. but your audio is kinda bad. new Mic maybe?? anyways reviews are pretty good! thumbs up.
+Acuravigor47 Looking at a new camera and mic. We've been shooting with a t5i for about 3 years. Moving up to a Sony a7s. Thanks for the feedback!!! :) Honda laura
You are right. At the end of the day is a personal choice. Both cars are great ,drive good and has many features. It is a hard choice, but drivers will buy what they like and that is all. I own an Accord 2012 exl sedan and now has 87k miles. No issues as of today. And I really love the car. Good review, thank you.
amazing. funny how my father is a huge toyota fan. we have only purchased camrys and he always preferred it over honda. just recently we purchased a 2010 honda odyssey exl and it is fantastic. I want to feel a honda accord so that I can make up my mind of maybe breaking the camry cycle. I know these are corolla and civic but still wanted to share a story. have a great day/night laura :)
The truth is, toyota corolla's agressive and sporty front-trapezoidal grill is hard to beat in its class. Honda civic was in panic mode redesigning from top to bottom to catch up with the corolla only to mess up the back badly with an elaborate out-of-proportion brake/tail lights.
The back of the honda is the best part.. the front is the problem looks little weird. The the toyota grill is what beats honda grill any day. Just she wont admit it cause she works for honda.
Hey look who's back!! "The honda queen" 😁 I drove the new honda civic aswell, love the speedometer and the interior which is really cool. When i drove the civic it didn't give much driving thrill and it feels modern but one thing all car manufacturers forgetting day by day which is the mechanical feel of the car for example manual gear box (stick shift) i dont like boring cvt, power steering and many more, the steering is abit stiffer then the corolla, apart from those downsides honda made a cool car. I cant wait to drive new Type-R im really curious to see the combination of vtec and turbo power 😁😬.
Just got the 2016 Toyota S Plus, and its very smooth and silent driving. At full tank the in-car system predicts 385 miles for the full tank. Paired the iPhone to the Entune system with no issues. Haven't used Siri Eyes Free as yet. Acceleration is fast and smooth, under the CVT, I haven't used the manual. Had to adjust the contrast on the rear camera, as I couldn't see yellow parking lines that clearly. I live in a hilly area and the CVT is a little sluggish on the hill climbs but kicks in after a slight push on the accelerator.
Looking back at these two comparisons after 5 years, I can clearly say that the Corolla is a clear winner when it comes to reliability. Honda’s had momentum over Toyota from late 80s to early 2000s but Toyota have consistently have been reliable but have surpassed Honda with their naturally aspirated engine over the absolute garbage Honda’s have been making in the last 10 years. With their Turbos and electronic component failures, Honda needs to go back to their roots and start building simple cars.
Thank you for noticing my comments, I have been a Honda fanboy for the last 3 decades and Honda buried the double wishbone suspension, quality Japanese parts and bulletproof reliability but now days I am so so disappointed on Honda’s built quality made up by marketing group instead of engineers. If Honda does not want to lose market share for next 10 years they better start building legendary cars instead of just cookie cutter cars with poor handling, poor reliability. You can’t just put on low profile tires to say that handling is great on a car; it must be breakthrough suspension components and then the low profile tires will enhance the handling...not the other way around where you see poor suspension design and low profile tires. This is just one example that Honda are cutting corners. Honda!!! Look at your past generation cars such as Integra, Prelude, early 90s Accord, early 90s Civic, mid 90s Odyssey 4 cyclinder....learn from these vehicles and apply to future Accord and Civics. Honda can barely design a volume knob anymore, look at the Ridgeline volume knob...so dainty and out of place.
You better do your research before you cut down Honda Toyota has so many lawsuits ondem I'm still surprised they're still in business people have gone into accidents and have died because of failure with Toyota vehicles and you're trying to convince people that Toyota is better do your research you're not fooling anybody Honda is number one and always will be love it or hate it
@@hulkbig1151 my research is my life experience of owning my first Honda in the early 80s Accord and owning Hondas for 3 decades. No more research is needed to help to see that Toyotas are far superior and consistently reliable.
You obviously need more research actually all you have to do is Google it and you can see how many lawsuits are against Toyota I'm assuming you're going to assume they have a lot of lawsuits because of the reliability unfortunately it doesn't work like that they have lawsuits because they're not reliable and they hurt their customers as well as other drivers and the few people got killed because of the reliability again you need to do your research one simple question to Google and you will get your answer
I always think black looks best when it is clean. And that lasts how long - about 10 minutes after you wash it? There's nothing uglier than a dirty black car. White it is.
Hi Laura, as usual very good review, quite detail in comparison between these two popular car but indeed i would choose Civic (no doubt) you know why .. because every time you're inside the Corolla i can tell that you don't like pretty much of that and you're not as excited as you're inside the Civic (IMO), but the build quality is good, but overall..both exterior and interior what Civic has to offer are just more advanced, good looking at both front end and back!! PS: again Laura you're cuteness starting to engraved in my head hahahaha. I'm from Indonesia and i hope you're understand my (poor) English and good luck to you Ms Laura 😊
+Didi Atthas Thanks for sharing this great feedback Didi, I'm grateful. We're really excited about this new 2016 Civic. Keep watching!!! ;)) Honda Laura btw no problem on the English, we're in about 200 countries at this point. :)
I see the civic also has heated mirrors from your center console shots. Nice thing about Hondas is that their trim levels dictate the option packages. Ex civic will always have a sunroof. Optional on Corolla. And so it goes with other options.
I was in Corolla s today and it is a great car it feel sporty and the interior is great overall the civic maybe be better but the Corolla sport is just great great drive panel is great and I love the looks if you are buying a basic model then go for the civic if you want the sport version then do corrola.
Laura's 100% right, the NEW Honda is just far better engineered and equipped... I sat in both, and I'm 6ft, 235lb muscular and I am much more comfortable in the Honda, plus it drives SMOOTH as heck!
toyota kills the honda for reliability running costs and resale and initial purchase price. the corolla is thousands and thousands cheaper than the honda.
Hey dji, there is only a $975 difference between these 2 trims.. After 5 years the civic will actually save you over $500 and the Corolla has a higher depreciation after 5 years. Both are great cars! -Honda Laura
Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk Laura, this shape corolla is 4 or 5 years old now and is due to be updated any day. certainly the brand new civic looks fresher. New corollas due shortly will be hybrids, plug in hybrids, completely new sheetmetal, hatches, all sorts of goodies, when they arrive, compare them to the new civic, not a 4 year old toyota. My advice would be if people want a car to last 200k, Honda, if you want 400k, toyota. Whenever you see a thirld world militia pick up with a 50calibre bolted on to the back of it, it's always a Toyota. That must tell us something.
+Humza Ahmed Video starts with "Hi I am Honda Laura" but props to Honda for making a pretty nice Civic. The technology beats Corolla hands down but as other have mentioned. It comes down to reliability and cost of ownership. Main would always be a owners preference and which shape they like.
Great review! is it a coincidence that your first name is "Honda"? ;) LOL BTW - too bad that this Honda Civic is not marketed in other countries, only in the USA :(
That's because it is a whole class better. Time will prove it. But I suspect when Toyota finally comes out with the next model of Corolla the Civic will be the granny.
Honest review!!! I like the Honda Civic very much compare to Toyota Corolla. I have Corolla 2010 and am already thinking in swapping it with Honda Civic EX as soon as it hits Afghanistan market. #Respect for both Honda & Toyota :-)
Even the latest launched 2014 Honda city is overall superb with the advanced infotainment panel, increased wheel base and boot space, uncluttered yet have a much more premium feel than its rivals.
+Y Brent take my advice avoid jettas. i own one and pay insane amounts of money for services and every time i take my car in for an oil change something is wrong. ive dropped way too much money on this car to ever consider buying one again. it drives nice, and the interior is nice, but thats it. save yourself and buy japanese. mazdas are super nice.
TheSleve22 Thank u for telling me that. Although I know VW's quality are not so well in the recent years, I still prefer jetta right now. Most people like corolla and civic but not me. Not only because how they looks but also their CVT gearbox, I have a 2014 accord now and the CVT gearbox of my accord just work so badly during the winter time here at up state NY. CVT cant work well at low temperature. So no honda toyota and nissan. Focus and cruze had 6at, but they shift so slow, I miss my old MT car so much when I drive focus and cruze. I gonna say mazda 3 is a really really good car, powerful comfortable, easy to handle and have a great gearbox. The only thing is the rear space are tiny, otherwise I will go for it. As for jetta, it got the most powerful engine in this class, big space, easy to drive, smart gearbox. That why I prefer jetta. By the way, the car is for my gf daily drive. Could you please by more specific about what issue did u found on your jetta? I would be appreciated..
+Y Brent interesting. my mom just bought a subaru legacy with a cvt. i actually thought the subaru cvt is nice, but i didnt know they performed poorly in the cold. yeah i really like the mazda 3 especially the hatchback. anyways in terms of problems with my volkswagen, the biggest one that comes to my head right now is the transmission pan gasket, it keeps breaking and leaking every 6 months to a year on my car, and it usually costs roughly $300 to fix at volkswagen dealers. parts on generally more expensive for volkswagen in general. i have had problems with my air conditioning not working, one of the fan not working, currently my ceiling liner is falling from the ceiling and volkswagen said it would be $1k to fix. my usb port wasnt working and so i couldnt play my music in the car, volkswagen wanted $100 to fix it, i ended up looking at it and finding out the usb port was just loose, now it works. they never took the time to see if it was just loose. dont get me wrong in terms of in class comparison the back seats are roomy, the trunk is big, the interior is nice, it is powerful and fun to drive. i feel like gas mileage is pretty horrible. on a recent 400 mile road trip i got 25mpg, and being that i do mostly city driving during my commute to work, i get about 18mpg. idk if leasing is an option for you guys, that might not be a bad way to go with volkswagen. another thing i have heard is it depends on where the volkswagens are made, german made volkswagens are apparently better than mexican made ones.
I am a big fan of Honda, but they messed up with the new 2016, too bulky. The Civic is supposed to be slim, small, smooth, and flashy. This Civic looks like the Accord. Honda you're great, but I went with the Corolla on this one, love the inside and love the outside. Good job on the comparison👍🏽.
Great review Laura! The Civic has the edge for now(until the new 2017 re designed Corolla) with the new 2017 Elantra right up it's back. That being said, you are beautiful:)
But I have to give it to you. That Civic is better than that Corolla..more fuel efficient, great interior and better looking, especially the tail lights. These two just take turns every year. Thanks for your video.
I really hate the asymmetrical wheels Honda is putting out for 2016 line up. Subaru is doing the same for the new crosstrek. Idk if its trend now but I prefer symmetrical wheels. That being said, cant beat 99$/m lease on the new corolla 2016 s+. Honda has more features in their models, but Toyota has better deals. Plus, this comparison is very bias coming from a "Herb Chambers HONDA of Seekonk" channel.
you went in that red 2015 toyota corolla s and you said that the seats were comfortable right? and on the 2016 corolla s you said the seats were hard the seats on the 2015 and 2016 are the same.
jajaja, I own a toyota and a Civic, I Love the new Toyota, but the new Civic EX is a 100 years ahead of Toyota, bigger engine and nore MPR, nicer screen, interior is very quiet with no noise and feels like a Mercedes with automatic hand brake and Parking. Dont laugh please.
+Amber Hargreaves Go for Toyota cars as they r more experienced about cars ... Toyota has been making cars from like past 64 years So u can choose which is better ...
A good point I'd like to make is that the Corolla Sport model you had is the upgrade package. While the Honda was the EX? Or LX? Either way you had a lower base model with the Civic versus the Corolla midrange Sport model which was only 300 more. Civics typically are a fee thousand more than the Corolla. Personally Honda transmission are very very weak, compared to their engines. They also have that heavy body sway feel that the Corolla does not have. But to me, the Corolla is still sturdy, and holds its own without being hard to drive
