Thank you for the manual way. Have the 2018 civic si had no idea what the actuator looked like. Thanks to this video I do know now. For those trying this. Make sure you do this on flat surface and not leveled surface. The car moves extremely easy with the electronic brake off and away from other cars. I just turned the knob with my finger that was covered in fluid after taking off the electronic brake actuator and it turned clockwise until it stopped spinning. Put the wheel back on, hand tighten the lugs and recalibrated the brakes first by pressing on it a good 10-20x and then recalibrated the electronic brake which worked flawless. Thank you again for the great video!

Done and done. Excellent thank you for the very descriptive explanation. I ended up using the handle of my screwdriver and managed to push in the caliper piston just using a wee bit of leverage against the inside of the caliper opening. Nice and quiet. Only small issue was I broke the bit on the impact screwdriver. Drilled it out and away we go.

Thanks for the video. I remember when we used to use a c clamp. The EPB had me worried about doing mine. My Google searching seemed to point to these steps but no one was showing how to mess with the actuator lol thanks! Nor did they mentioned the calibration which was my biggest worry. I believe the Honda manual even states this is the correct way of manually doing it. I'll be doing mine this week so if I remember I'll update my comment with the results.

Thank you for this video, I had a hard time at work the other day when I took off the bracket and caliper, then when it came to retracting the piston I went inside the car and released the Parking break because my dumbass thought it would let me wind it back manually. The piston ended up expanding and falling out of the caliper, leaking, and the parking brake system was not working. Then I put it into maintenance mode, and ALL THE DRIVING ASSISTS were not working, and the car wouldnt start as the scanner i plugged in was telling me the car was only getting 9.0Volts. I was so pissed off but I learned my lesson, and every honda I work on Ill scan. Thanks for the video!

After I finished the brake job and installed everything back together, is when the ECU had issues with all the driving assists and turning on. What really made no sense is how it was getting less voltage and the car wouldn't start, it would also flash every light in the car while I tried starting it.

Good explanation. If you conduct a proper brake in for the New pads/rotors, there isn't a need to be careful on them for 500mi. Do a couple 35mph slow braking sessions w/o completely stopping, then one at the same speed and doing a hard stop. Then get up to 50mph and do two sessions of hard braking w/o completely coming to a stop and you are done. - The pads will mesh with the new rotors with just enough heat (as described) and you'll be good to go :-)

@@JonnyDIY thanks brother I got it taken care of . I didn't pull it all apart I used a trick . I got a square 9 volt battery and a connector that goes on the top and it has a couple of alligator clips on there . I just popped of the connector and touched the leads to the connectors on the caliper and bingo it goes right in . You will hear the motor stop once it gets to the end . Worked very well brother 👍.and with the 9v battery you don't have to worry about going to far cause there's just enough power in there to get it to back up to the end of travel and it won't go past that point . Saves a little time and you don't have to worry about taking off the motor. I was nervous I was going to tighten it up to much and crack the housing and those thing are a grand a peice . But yeah brother it's a nice little trick and it will save some time as well.

When removing the motor actuator like in the video you have to be careful removing it. Other wise you ending up pulling the pin connector wires from the plug to the actuator.

@JonnyDIY

You need a more expensive scan tool (should be under $500) that has the capability to put in "epb (electric parking brake) service mode" if you want to do it with a scan tool. Otherwise you'll have to do as I did. Now if you want to clear codes there's cheaper scan tools around 200 or less that'll clear the brake codes and abs

I didn't understand a comment you made near the end. You said something about not having to reposition the parking brake motor spindle relative to the caliper drive, after turning the piston drive on the caliper clockwise . Is the brake motor gear free wheeling or does it have definite stops forward and backward? If the motor has forward and reverse limits, then it would require synchronization with the caliper piston position. If the motor is free wheeling, then the repositioning the motor spindle to the caliper drive wouldn't matter. In other words, can the motor be replaced onto the caliper without regard to the motor gear's position? (As it will be different from the position it was in when removed due to the piston adjustment).
