Purchased the ‘18 EX trim level Sedona and we love it. My wife does all the driving and I have found the front passenger legroom to be much more spacious than the Honda Odyssey we also considered for purchase. My wife liked the dash and controls along with overall ride and visibility of the Sedona over Honda. Residual value for the Honda of course will be much better, yet with the 10 year/100000 mile warranty on our Sedona, we’re good on driving this for many years to come. BTW, nice review!👍✅
This is a proper dad, family guy review. I agree and have said the same things to others in my circle including my wife.... Also getting more for less is not being cheap....it's bang for the buck. Vans are just better for long road trips and family vacations.
Great review. You made it fun. I'm seriously looking at the SXL. Never would have considered a Kia minivan 5 years ago but Kia has truly something unique and exciting here
I own a Kia Sedona LX 2017. It was a solid tank minivan I ever bought. It was comfortable driving experienced and more spacious interior. It passed the overlapped IIHS safety crash test.
thanks for the review. I had my eye on Sienna but after seeing this I think I'm go with a Sedona! especially the safety features, and stuff you get for free.
I've got a 2016 lx, love it. I can't find anything I don't like about it. Feels very solid, Handles nice, super quiet inside, smooth as silk, plenty of power. Its an excellent value. Except for an increase in towing ability why would anyone opt for a suv?
As far as I'm aware, the 8 passenger Sedona does not come with a dual powered sunroof (even in the SXL trim) because the seat belt for the 8th seat is located within the ceiling. A plus side to not having a sun roof, there is more head room especially in the third row. I wish Sedona would still allow for a driver/passenger sunroof in the SXL trim as some other companies do. Also, a plus to having 8 passenger seating in the Sedona is the second row seats fold up flush against the front seats, where as the 7 passenger lounge seating does not.
Thanks for the review. Has Chrysler dropped off the Pacifica yet? This and the Pacifica are my top two choices for a first-time minivan purchase. Can you advise one way or another? I'll probably go with the Sedona SX trim for the gas mileages (best of all trims) or the Pacifica Touring L-Plus as the lowest trim level to offer a tow package for 3600, and gas mileage.
william ingram jr if you looking car with better mileage just buy little city car, with just only usd 22 per month gas different and in 60 month only usd 1,350 different, no big deal, in Indonesia Odysey price is usd 50,000 and not V6, Kia Grand Sedona price here highest trim prices only USD 35,000 with V6, and toyota alphard prices usd 75,000, so i pick KIA Grand Sedona, depreciate price of kia here is good. and we got 4 rows seat,..hahahahaha
Just bought a Toyota se night shade edition looked at the Kia but I liked the Toyota better I was actually going to buy the Kia but TOYOTA dealer was next door n I fell in love w the look of the SE
I just bought the SXL and they told me no spare tire but when I got it home and looking it over I noticed a flap on the floor just behind the passenger seat that said spare tire. Looked under the van and saw a spare tire (temp style but it was a tire.). With the UVO system road side assistance is provided thats why I wasn't to concerned about the spare tire but was glad to see one under the car.
Thank you for reviewing an 8 passenger SXL model! This is the model I prefer but am looking at the 2017. I'm somewhat confused when building online because the SXL doesn't mention 8 passenger.
Michele Gorham the 4 rows actually for emergency seat, yes the safety is concerning when the 4 rows is in use. because the airbag not available for rear windows. but for emergency, is quite good having 4 rows of seat, wish you the best for looking minivan car.
I got my 2016 Kia Sedona EX pretty well equiped back in August last year, I love it and Like it a lot but sadly my Wife didn't it too much, she wants a Nissan Quest so bad, what do you guys recommend?
+william ingram jr Thank you so much for the advice, we checked last Sunday and Now we really appreciate our Kia Sedona so much. Sedona is way better hands down. Thank you again.
Good job kia on their sedona but it would be better of they get rid of that line on the rear and if it gets awd which the guy says that would be very good but kia for me need to get their sedona head room and leg room better and they also need to option the remove 2nd row seats or stow n go
$44k new?!?! I would agree to about $20k on a 5-year old model. Two-color seats have to go. For the complete "dad-approved" review - Can I get to the spark plugs easily to change them? Can I get to the oil filter and drain plug easily too? I like its airbags all around and your safety report. The reclining feature of the middle row seats is not necessary. I would rather be able to take the seats out. A video monitor on the ceiling would be good so 3rd-row passengers could see it too. Our SUV has a DVD player. It has been indispensable on long trips. I like the middle section of the 2nd-row seating that slides forward to allow me to reach a rearward facing baby carrier.
Kia are good car, I own one 2011 Sorento. But the lose alots value then Toyota and Honda.. I don't know why.. but I love there warranty..10years for 100000-200,000 milles or kilometres
+william ingram jr In my opinion I like the quality more and the engine feels more refined and powerful even though in paper the sedona has more power.
i bought 2017 kia sedona lx..i trade my ford hybrid escape, this kia sedona i love it nice for long drive its comfortable for my family...very nice Car. Thanks Kia Sedona lx...bye bye bye ford
Jaime San Miguel My thoughts exactly, however I'm realizing most people put quite a large down payment on these types of vehicles. Still expensive but a down payment sure makes a great difference on monthly payments and interest.
