Purchasing and saving money on an aftermarket auxiliary battery to extinguish the eco light and restore the eco start/stop function. A BMS (Battery Management System) reset is not needed and doesn't require a visit to a dealership. Starting and driving the vehicle is required to cycle/reset eco light and eco start/stop function.

Hi there, I also own a 2016 LR4. From some research I did, the BMS reset is not required but it will allow the charge management to use the full capacity of the new battery. This capacity "memory" is gradually going down with the battery age / usage. The BMS will not know you changed it and so if not reset, your new battery will most likely have a shorter life. There are plenty of cheaper OBD2 tools to do this reset yourself but I am using the GAP IID tool and it provides many useful features so I think it's worth it. I fully agree that Land Rover dealers are overpriced and so I simply don't go. I just can't bear getting screwed like that ;o) Cheers!

Thanks for the explanation. I own several OBD II tools, but none of them can reset the BMS. Not ready to buy another one with another feature. Not to be a neigh sayer, but I don't believe the aux battery is going to last very long either way

Great video, excellent tip on sourcing that battery. Any thoughts on how to disable eco-mode without getting the amber light? I'm not a fan of start stop. I'm also not a fan of lights on the dash, and having to hit the button each time I start the car to disable it. I haven't found any good solutions yet.

@@daviddickson9548 I don't know that anyone has invested the time or effort in to figuring out what you describe. I personally would like to do away with the aux battery and the eco function all together. I drove around for two years with a dead aux battery and a glowing eco light that annoyed the hell out of me. My video is only a temporary solution that will come back around again. I continue to search and monitor forums/websites to see if someone comes up with a work-around.

@@daviddickson9548 Update: Try this link for a permanent fix. Definitely not within my price range. There's got to be something more cost effective... This is the video of someone talking about the tool... GAP iiD Tool. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0cUoiR4cm4g.html. This second link is to the actual tool... www.gap-diagnostic.com/products/

My truck just has a rapid click when I press the start button . Won’t start. Could this be the culprit?

No, not related to aux battery at all. Based on your explanation it is your main battery. The main battery and the aux battery typically only last four to five years. If it has been that long, you may need to replace one or both.
