100 miles starting in Leadville at 10,200 ft of elevation . . . and it goes up from there. 52% of this year's starters made it back to Leadville in under 30 hours to earn the coveted LT100 belt buckle. It was another tough, great year...earned my 5th Leadville buckle in 5 years and I owe it all to my crew and pacers...they are simply the best! This year was particularly special with my son sharing pacing duties for the first time. This is a tough race and I will never take the experience for granted. Many thanks to Leadville, the volunteers, the runners and the very dear friends I have met on the trail. It's special breed, these LT100 folks. During the race we vow to never do it again and then a few days after the finish start marking our calendars for next year. Enjoy . . . and I'll see you next year. Eric

KIM KRANZ thanks but I think I got a little whiny through most of it, I mean what did I expect, it's 100 miles it's gonna hurt! Suck it up buttercup is what I should've been telling myself.

What a great day. It was pretty awesome to see you on my last training run, where me parents/crew caught you going the other way. My first Leadville. Your videos are a great resource. Cheers.

Great to meet you and your folks! Better than you think you are...you worked for it, didn't quit, and earned that buckle. Great job, Aaron.

Great video and effort. Leadville is a race I really want to do. By the way, that is Aspen CO native, Rickey Gates (Salomon) at 5:12 ish playing the jaw harp.

Hey, Justin, thanks for the note and for the ID on the jaw harp player! Any idea what the hell he was doing? Overcome with emotion at the sight of the llamas?

I don't know why it took me so long to watch this one. Love it as always! Might have to put it on our facebook page (loved the beginning dialogue) Hope you are doing well and maybe getting some of those workouts I gave you in ;)

Hey, Brian, I need to get back at that strength training now that the running season is about over! I recorded the dialogue at the beginning in the middle of the night on a rocky, rooted singletrack around Turquoise Lake. It's not uncommon for ultrarunners to end up talking to themselves. A lot.

Saved! Just really started enjoying trail running and this event is on my watch list. No where near that level yet. Working my way out of the midwest with the Ragnar Trail series. Train once a year in the Pacific Northwest on family vacay. Hard to train mountains in central Indiana. Great video. What version of Nine Pound Hammer at the beginning?
@leadfeet
@leadfeet 7 лет назад
Nine Pound Hammer by Musketeer Gripweed...a band I heard at a beer festival in Breckenridge. Hope to see you out there on the trail!

Thank you for this video. We can see the trail. We can see the mountains. We can see the highs and lows. All from a runner's perspective. Congrats on the finish! Love it!!

This is some of your best video editing work! I really like the freeze frame effect starting at 0:50. Love that you call out the Cake eater. And the PEL.

Thanks, if they outlaw PELs there are a lot of us in big trouble.
