This is my first car review, so please don't hate! :) I'm in love with my 2016 Mustang. After 300ish miles of ownership, I figured I'd do a review. Check out the exhaust, color, etc. WATCH PART 2 for interior, gauges, etc.!
Very nice Ari, Thanks for taking the time to do the review. Borla exhaust sounds awesome. I really like the way you ordered your car. Performance pack would be a must have for me and the saddle interior looks great. Good choice on the silver wheels, I agree black would get lost with your color choice. Congrats, you probably won't run into another GT like yours. Enjoy!
+boomee78 Very cool! I was thinking about the Challenger Scat Pack 392 with the Shaker hood. That was my 2nd choice....It was a tough decision, but I ultimately went with the Mustang for handling and nostalgia. This is my 3rd Stang. :)
Good review, brody. Lol I like that you mention how the type of shoes one wears makes a huge influence on working the clutch. Chuck taylors are the best.
Hey man, for your very first car review you did fantastic. Audio is really good, the only thing I think you could improve on is the quality of your video. 720p or better would be much better!
+TheOneTheyCallTitan thanks a lot. I really thought I chose 720, but who knows. :) I used an iPhone holder to film the video because I don't have a GoPro or fancy camera. Next one will be better.
I agree on the wheels i don't care for black either and also i like the spoiler too, I really like the saddle brown on the seats, also the interior is much more refined than the 2014. Oil Pressure gauge is very important you know instantly if there is a problem, and vacuum gauge is important if you want to save gas. Glad you are enjoying your new Mustang! Drive defensive
that's awesome :) are you planning on any mods for your new one? Like maybe that wing you want on there and stuff like that? some simple mod install vids would be cool to see
cent dp yes, down the line I'm going to get the Roush spoiler, an intake and perhaps some better wheels. But I'm not about to run out and spend more money any time soon. :)
Sweet. It's so tempting to trade in my 2013 GT for a 2016. They look sweet. But I love mine. I have a few thousand dollars worth of mods as well. Excellent vid. Love the color of the wheels against the silver color of the car. Interior is great!!!
+Michael De Santa Thank you so much! I actually did not like the 2015-16 model when they came out in 2014. I preferred your body style. My buddy got a 2013 GT 50th Anniversary and I fell in love. But when I looked into buying one, I discovered that the S550 chassis is just a better car. Now it's grown on me. :)
Hey man, I posted on your pick up vid...I'm the one that said I purchased my car from the same place you did wearing the same shirt! Haha! I've never heard of Cars And Coffee. Sounds killer! Been a long while since I've been to The Oasis. Well before it went up in flames... I no longer live in Austin. I moved to Elgin in 2005 to get that small town vibe. I'd appreciate it if you could inform me on some up coming events. I miss doing that kind of stuff. Great video! I have the Sto and Show, but I have yet to use it. I take my chance... It's installed, but I just don't use it. Thanks for the vid man....
+Giovanni Adrian hey man thanks a lot! I understand why you moved out of Austin. We like the city feel for the time being, but once we have kids, etc. we'll want a house and the country, not the city anymore. So we're getting our fill of the Austin vibe while we can. As far as groups, I suggest joining MeetUp.com and just searching for car clubs in your area. That's how I found out about Cars & Coffee. Also, I joined this Mustang group and they are the best. Super cool people in / around Austin. It's for later-model Mustangs only (Fox body - current). facebook.com/groups/354955654699687/ Ask to join and hopefully I'll see you at one of the events. :)
Thank you so much for the info man! Sorry it took so long to respond. Super busy. I will check it out, and will meet up with you one day. I'm sure you're still in love with your car... I know I am... I love driving her! Take care man, and hope to see you soon. Later!
Love that you went with the aluminum wheels over the black. I don't care for black wheels either, and it seems like that's all car companies offer anymore.
Thanks. When I sign into fb and go to that link, I get: This content is currently unavailable The page you requested cannot be displayed right now. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may have expired, or you may not have permission to view this page. Return home
kevin C that's frustrating.... Try searching "WSS" or "Wild Side Stangs". If you can find it then ask to join. Also, there is a "Person" named "West Side Stangs". He is actually the founder of the group, named Steve. You can shoot him a PM and ask him to add you. Here's a link to his profile: facebook.com/Wildsidestangs
Awesome review! Would you be willing to do a flyby as well as a few exterior regular driving so we can hear the tameness and aggressiveness of the exhaust?
+pdechavez1 absolutely! I intended to do this, but I need to just find a place / time / 2nd cameraman to help. I think I will have a buddy do this with me this weekend. Stay tuned....
+Zachary Zarko Thanks! Yes, that's definitely the plan. It's already getting hot out here. I just need to make the time to go get the tinting done. :) Luckily I park underground so it doesn't get too hot until I leave it in the sun.
Seatbelt digs in my neck also......I've found putting the seat in the higher position helps, but ford should have made the seatbelt height adjustable....still loving the car though...
how did the dealer instal the boral exhaust is that an option sounds good i hope to get mine very soon best of lucks what you do for a living lol are the monthly payments high ?
+Jose Villegas Yes, the dealership can add pretty much any aftermarket exhaust into your financing. I got a good deal and my dealer did not mark up the parts (thanks to my awesome salesman, Leo). Basically, when you fill out your financing paperwork the salesman can go online and order your exhaust from an approved vendor. The dealership buys the parts at full price, then adds the cost of labor and any parts mark-up to your financing. For me, it was about $1300 for the exhaust, plus $400 for installation, which is a bit high but worth it when it only increases your monthly payment by $15-20. Depending on the options you choose, your credit score, your financing terms (60-84 months) and your down-payment you can adjust your payment. My suggestion is play around with the "Build Your Mustang" tool on the Ford website: shop.ford.com/build/mustang/#/chooseyourpath/
Love the guard green. Respect your preference on the wheel color, but disagree. Have a magnetic with the black wheels and it looks tough. Your exhaust sounds great.
Question for you! I'll be getting a mustang GT very soon and I'll be changing the exhaust shortly afterwards and was looking at the borla type s. How much (if any) drone do you have as you're cruising on the highway in 6th gear? How loud is the exhaust inside when the windows are closed?
+Mohammad Zaman Thanks for the comment. Zero drone. I repeat, zero drone. The S-type is the perfect balance (IMO) of aggressive, mean, crackle at full throttle, with muted rumple at lower RPM. In 6th gear running 2k RPM at 75mph you barely hear the exhaust at all. I have heard tons of Mustang exhausts and I'm convinced that this one is perfect for me. Everyone has their own preference. Some may think this is too loud, others too quiet. But for me, it's perfect. :) Check out my newer video driving in the rain.
+Ari Cohen thanks for the quick, thoughtful, and helpful response. Your exhaust sounds amazing in the video which means it'll be even better in real life so I think I'll be going with the borla type s when the time comes! Thanks for the help!
Mohammad Zaman to be perfectly honest, I haven't even checked. I don't care about fuel mileage, I don't think about gas, I just drive until the light turns on then fill her back up. This is not a car I want to worry about economy in! :)
+TehZured I've seen tons of black Mustangs in Austin. Or maybe it was the same one many times? There's one GT with the FRPP Sport cat-back that sounds really good. He's near my house.
Good question. This Borla system is a modern cat-back, which is different than the cat-backs from 2014 and earlier. On older cars (pre 2015) the catalytic converters were part of the H-pipe, or X-pipe. However, on the S550 (2015 and up) Ford redesigned the exhaust manifolds and incorporated the cats into the headers. So on these newer cars there is no cat on the H or X pipes. So on this Borla system (or any cat-back for the S550) you get an X-pipe with resonator delete, and an axle-back muffler / tips kit in one system. I hope that all makes sense. It's 50 state legal and costs about $1500 before installation.
+DTH Cheerleader Absolutely not. I actually had the dealership install it so there is no way my warranty is affected. :) If you ever do mods on a car, it's a good idea to call your warranty company and just verify it beforehand.
Great car. My favorite interior color. Glad u didn't go with the black wheels. I have a black 15 GT with the 20" wheel package because unfortunately Ford didn't offer any other wheel color with perf pack but black. Also the perf pack spoiler delete and gearing were not for me (my 2012 gt trade in had 3.73s and i could never use first gear).
It's amazing how similarly you and I think! I had the exact same concerns--so much so that I almost did not get the Perf Pack. I wish I had the spoiler and the 20's, too. But lo-and-behold, it's a lot cheaper to buy wheels and a spoiler than Brembo brakes, springs, strut tower brace, anti-sway bar, gears, front diffuser, Shaker stereo and upgraded dashboard. The low gears really are not bad for daily driving--I just shift a little faster than the longer gears. I don't know what was different with your '12 other than the solid axle, but 6th gear is very nice on the highway.
If only I bought mine first haha. Was just looking at buying it today. Your video reassured my confidence in the purchase. Can't wait to install them. BTW the STO N SHO is awesome. Purchased it before the car even and asked the dealership probably 100 times not to touch the front bumper.
Frank Caputo good stuff! I got the Sto n Sho on there now and I like it so much better than the crappy plastic box that the dlr gave me. Pop that little clip and throw it in my trunk when I go to car shows. :)
+Roberto Luongo My crappy sneakers are similar to Converse Chuck Taylors, only I can't afford the real thing because I spent all my damn money on my Mustang!
G'day..Great car...great review..Wheels are superb great choice ..Here's an Aussie Ford GT Falcon ..called the GT F... F for final as you'll hear about..Real sad ...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_VkN82lGkFI.html and here too ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0-XkfC5iZcg.html&nohtml5=False#t=75.255828 Thought you might enjoy seeing another Ford GT...Cheers Rod
You look like you sit in that car so well... cars drive most people, but you drive this car.. you have a certain level of alpha male to you.. idk what it is... if Vin Diesel and Paul walker were joined as one, it would be you... keep rolling dog.
When at hard acceleration and the tranny is under heavy load, the mt 82 likes to get flexible and at time of shift will literally not allow you into third gear, or the fact that it slops around at speed is not in line with the transmission to shift.
My 2011 was like that but I would get locked out of 2nd. It was really bad, I installed a blowfish shifter bracket and it helped align the gates and stiffened up the shifter, but it also rattled really bad. It was so annoying. My 2017 is night and day compared , no slop, shifts perfectly, its amazing how much better it is. I think they've improved the MT-82.
steve james I own a 2015.. and no.. they do not wipe the floor. I had the pleasure of driving an ss from Memphis to Houston. It's faster out the gate stock, no question.. it's bigger. Maybe even more comfortable to cruise in.. But it doesn't sound as good.. it sure doesn't look as good.. and even tho it's faster when you floor it, if I'm racing on a road course track, I want to use the mustang.. Bottom line, in my opinion, it comes no where close to wiping the floor :)
