Brit here. Went to the MCG for this game. Me and my Finnish mate were on the way home from work, still in our trady uniforms. Aussie mate rang last minute and asked if we wanted to go the stadium. Managed to get tickets on the gate for $20. Was stood in with the Hawthorne fans on bottom rung. Me and my mate had snuck in a bottle of whisky. Got leathered and screaming for Hawthorne like lifelong Hawks. Knew the basics of the game, but enough to know this was a brilliant game of footy. Had been to two Aussie Rules matches earlier that season but nothing like this. Great atmosphere and great sporting experience.
This is going to haunt Issac Smith forever and even Hawthorns 4 in a row chance due to that game. That game is actually like Ben Hunt from Brishanes nightmare from the 2015 NRL grand final. Carn the Cats!!!!
Jack Anderson In the states, we had a similar moment with our football. The Minnesota Vikings were playing the Seattle Seahawks in the first round of the playoffs. It was 10-9 Seahawks in front and the Minnesota Vikings kicker, Blair Walsh, missed a chip shot that would’ve won them the game.
Jesse Pinkman yeah and again this year in the qualifying final and prelim they didn't show up credit they beat the fishy swans in the semi but lost in those to games
there's a lot i dont like about aussie rules as an expat - but jesus, this game really defines why it is the most exciting sport in the world when played at it's best.
The hilarious thing about all this is, Hawthorns era is officially over now and they signed up Hodge, Burgeyone & Mitchell for another 1 year. LOL ! How dumb can you get!? baha. Their fall from grace is going to be what the Brisbane Lions went through and are currently going through. Hawthorn on the bottom for the next 15-20 years. lollllll. How sweet it is ! #happyhappyhappy :)))
