+CoolGuii The animated segments with the laptop features. It's something he doesn't have to do, but does so, I assume, out of love for his craft. People who don't spend their money, energy and hours on making quality RU-vid videos (which frequently go unappreciated) may not understand. No big deal, just wanted to acknowledge him. Carry on!
+HardwareCanucks thanks dude! Ya i'm VERY curious how the mobile pascals will perform but it'll probably be late fall/winter before we see them in systems...
Honestly man your reviews are great. You have great editing while still giving a review with a lot of substance. So many tech reviewers these days are too focused on making their videos look nice that they forget about how good it's content is. Somehow, you manage to achieve both without compromise. Awesome work man.
these reviews are so good, I literally just watch these for entertainment sometimes. anyone know what the chill music is that comes in after the intro?
hey Dave, hows running premiere pro like on there? I might upgrade my windows laptop later this year to that thing if it does well with premiere pro. I think it should be able to since its a quad core i7 with lots of video RAM.
I've been waiting for this for so long.Thank you so much for this Dave! Very well done video like usual and the line drawings never fail to disappoint. Great follow up to the old review. If I were to give one piece of feedback, I'd say you should go into the battery life a bit more - but I'm really nitpicking. Once again, great review Dave - you never disappoint! PS: Hate myself for buying the 2015 model.
Dave Lee, I'm not a gamer but i am leaning towards this computer for rendering 4k video's for my website and to work with photoshop. I love the 14 inch size as that is what my current six year old T400 Lenovo is.. Is this a great laptop for what I'm planning to use it for or is there something else you'd recommend? I'm tired of waiting on a new macbook pro with skylake and all the rest.
I've known about you for a while and I've already seen several of your videos. But, I don't know why I've subscribed to you only now. And... omg... now, I've been binge-watching your videos for the whole day.
I can't believe this but finally someone who make the PERFECT laptops reviews! especially on Razer products, i wanted to get this version of Razer but instead i got the 2015 Anti-Glare edition, i wish if they made a non-touch version of this it'd be the perfect laptop, period! For now the only the thing that i dont like about Razers is how fingerprint magnet they are!
+Aaditya Brahmbhatt hah. =) i've actually had this thing for a while but i'm starting to use it is for better mic positioning. Sometimes it was tough to get the motorola phone mics positioned properly. But if you're curious, the 2014 moto X was the reference mic by the developer who built that app, so that soundmeter app was surprisingly accurate when using that phone.
+Alex someone gets my drift! Like seriously for a portable GAMING laptop it should have a 1080p screen for less power consumption, less bugginess when having to go a fix the resolution (it's so annoying) and also just fits nicely! I honestly could care less if it's touch. Tbh the last year fhd 2015 version sold out literally almost everywhere, trust me I've checked everywhere! They should've known to make another one again! Razer! For the love of god let me have my 1080p matte ips display with the same specs and I will literally throw money at you!!
+John Hanson I feel you bro, I feel the same way. 👍🏾 Looks like I'm stuck between another MacBook Pro, XPS 15, and Razer Blade once I can afford them that is.
+Alex if you want the sexiest 1080p screen if your life with decent, not amazing but decent performance, than the XPS 15 is the way to go. Upgrades me ram up to I think 32 GB on the i5 and i7 model, don't quote me. But it's uprgradeable everything! Plus it's cheaper. Not much better of a gaming laptop though but on the bright side Dbrands sells some awesome skins for it too! Razer is too overpriced for what they offer. You can get a Msi gs40 phantom for cheaper with the same specs. Or even a Msi gs60 ghost pro with a 1080p screen. Save your money if you want a Razer blade wait for he 1080p model if they ever come out with one.
I just got my razer blade from ebay, but it didnt come with the charger. Are you sure its a 165 watt power adapter? (I have to buy a new one and its a bit pricey (www.razerzone.com/ca-en/store/razer-165w-power-adapter )) Thanks ;)
Dave, I just wanna say thanks, I ordered this laptop 2 weeks ago, and since then I've heard just so much trashtalk about if from Reddit and Razer Insider that I was worried I made a bad choice, thanks for this great review, you brought my confidence back
i am sure the 1060 version would be much better on performance... because the 970M on a gaming laptop made me lough and now they also have the gtx 1080 which is great and would last for 2+ years
Hey Dave, I'm looking into getting a Blade Stealth and the Razer Core for a mobile college setup. Any idea when the Core is coming out? The old date said April but we're a little past that....
+Alexander Black heard of the Dell xps lineup? Granted, they don't have GPUs, but they DO have quad core i7s. But I have heard they got some exclusivity shit going on with their infinity display thing.
Back at it again with the great reviews. Also i genuinely can't wait to see the review of the two laptops with the razor core in action. Cause i want to get a new laptop soon and if the core works well with the stealth is probably the biggest deciding factor for me right now. Keep up the great content bruv.
Hi D2D! I cant wait for your review of Razer Blade Pro 2016 with GTX1080. still considering of getting that one. Or suggest me other gaming laptops that dont run hot when gaming. TQ
Hey dave, would like to know when you choose the brand skin with no logo cut out, does the razer logo still light if its turned on? Or the skin completely shut off the lighting.
Yo guys, should I buy the Razer Stealth or this, this seems to be alot of money like 1,000 dollars more, also does Razer Core work with the 2016 one and are the graphics even good in the first place?
If you do hardcore gaming then get the 2016 blade. Its very powerful and does have good graphics. Also the core works with the 2016 version as well as the stealth.
Hey Dave Lee, In the BIOS there is a "Enable USB charge Function" option under Chipset, if you change it from disable to Auto Mode are you able to charge with the USBC port? I would test it but I don't have a USB C charger.
Holy shit, the production value on this video is amazing!!! Subbed for not only that but the fact you back your observations with measurements like dbs and thermals.
Yh I'm torn between these 2 laptops too. I think I might just go with the xps 15 because of the better battery life on the HD model and the much more appealing price tag. But damn this laptop is hot!
Actually I don't understand why people are complaining about it being hot. I played fallout and cod and it doesn't even feel that hot. The only problem is the fan which is annoying as hell but I wear headphones so no problem for me.
Went with the Dell XPS 15 on my end. Chosen because of the upgradability (RAM specifically) and the gorgeous nearly bezel-less screen. It's really something to behold. Completely spoiled by it now. :) Do a lot of video editing, web design, and in your case CAD (most likely) and the XPS becomes the clear winner here.
+Asif Nabi it's actually funny now. I went back to the MS Store with the intention of swapping out for Blade (2016)...but left VERY underwhelmed and really glad I got the XPS15 (had the chance to trade for it too). The drivers for the touchpad on the Blade are just not up to snuff at all, compared to the XPS. You can tell Dell really worked with MS to get it right. It's Macbook Pro level quality tracking and multi-touch!
Ajwad Sabano i mean just looking at how the 1080 compares to the 980 it is just so much better and the initial price point is quite fair compared to past flagship gpu's. I'd only assume it will be the same for the 1080m vs 980m etc.
Hey Dave, sorry if this is off topic (still love your videos), but I was just wondering what the background music is for most of your videos (specifially this one). I can't seem to find this FILI person anywhere (Spotify, Google, RU-vid, Soundcloud, etc.), and I found one of the background tracks was by Robotaki, but you have the background music in the description of almost all of your videos listed as FILI. Just wondering since I really love your background music and would like to play it since it relaxes me. Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work!
I felt the need to leave a comment. I never do, but this was an excellent review. Your summary at the end was fantastic. Well done on the video, I am now subscribed
Wow... I'm suprised I haven't seen your channel before. Very well made, clean, professional, to the point review. All I can say is that you are doing a great job! Subscribed and thanks :P
Abraham Nila sadly,no.If you run n64 emulator the cpu temp will drastically increase and theres no other way but put your laptop to your filled bath tub to keep it cool.
I like everything about this laptop except for the logo and the price. I might buy it but then i'll cover up the logo with something else because it's the ugliest logo ever.
I don't think he was talking about the Force Touch trackpad and its pressure sensitivity but more about how it has no buttons and how you can click anywhere to register a click.
Ivan Rodriguez No it's annoying mac trash, why would I need to "click anywhere" there's buttons for that, right click and left click. Your thumb is just handing down there anyways, especially from a gaming stand point (why would you ever use a track pad anyways) it makes more sense...
I was thinking of getting this razer and was hoping you'd actually review it !! Thank you so much your reviews are the best and I'm definitely getting this blade *-*
HI, David. I really enjoy your videos. I'm living in Canada. I have a question about purchasing razer product on their official website--www.razerzone.com/ca-en/store. What's the duty and tax I need to pay when I place a order like a razer blade.
The low PCI-e SSD write speeds seem to be a Windows driver issue. Controllers that should be perfectly capable of more seem hamstrung on it right now. Hope that's fixed soon, but I don't think it's hardware related. OSX and Linux seem to handle the same drives better.
cant wait for the razor core video. fingers crossed it works with the xps 15. i hope you will test this as many people are wondering this atm. thanks for your uploads!
Can QHD+ screens like the one of Razer's be able to play 4K content clearly like 4K RU-vid videos? Will I be able to see the video similarly as to what a 4K screen could display or there would be a significant difference?
This is the review that I've been waiting for! Thanks Dave! And one question: Should I switch from my 2016 Alienware 15 R2 to this Blade for mobile gaming?
Hello guys, dumb question : can I use USB Ethernet Adapters on any kind of computer ? I mean does it give me what an ethernet card would give me ? cause this laptop is lacking an ethernet port was wondering if buying an adapter would fix this issue
wow just found your channel Dave, keep up the great work. really appreciate the graphics and succinct/easy to understand conclusion at the end too. subscribed.
Hey Dave, I think there would be significant interest in some detailed benchmarks of the Blade from you specifically. I'd really like some in depth look at Overwatch benches on the Blade specifically.
