Yeah, but the odds of seeing another one of these on the road (or confusing it for any other car) are much lower than with all the other cars you mentioned. You're also more likely to get treated exceptionally well by a company with very few customers than if you buy from a dealer that sells the cars you mentioned.

+Horacio Ortega True but does that 09 GTR have a 3.5 pound per horsepower ratio?? I think not! keep in mind this is competing with Mc Laren super cars. 500hp in a 1600 pound car. As the man said most of his customers already owned a Ferrari or lambo and wanted something even faster! Kepp in mind this is super bike territory as far as power to weight ratio goes.

Truth is, Jay dislikes these kinds of overpriced kit cars he always says it on past videos. i don't understand why they need a stock ariel atom for this build. They could have built a CF monocoque and mount that honda engine to it since they manufacture the CF frame to begin with?

1,600 pounds?! That's insane! I don't think the average person realizes how incredibly light that is for a car that size... A Veyron is 4,162 lbs and makes 1,000 hp in the first model. That is 0.24 hp / lb. This car is 1,600 pounds and makes 500 hp. That is 0.312 hp / lb, giving it a higher power to weight ratio than a Veyron! Most cars that size weight at least 2,500 pounds if not 3,000 something. This is a true sportscar. I don't care what parts he used, that car is awesome. You can't argue against a power to weight ratio because that's what you feel when you accelerate, even if Honda made the engine, it doesn't matter. He made a dream come to reality, nobody else makes a car that is such a pure sports car. No electronics getting in the way, as light as possible, a pure sports car.

+HangHe2key Roll over most any truck or suv and the same exact thing would happen, the "sheet" metal wouldn't make any difference. Although vehicles such as Wranglers have roll over protection, look what happens when it get hit at the back

i should be mad but ill explain it to u because you must not know. not so the black somke does not mean its burning oil it means its running rich(more gas less air in the chamber) the only car that burn oil naturally is a rotary engine like the one in a rx-7

+archinuk417 This is just a rebodied version. Or "bodied" version I should say haha. The novelty of the Atom with it's see through design has worn off. Now it's time for stuff like this. I actually like it. It looks like Caterham Aeroseven or the Aston Martin CC100, a track day car, but it looks nice.

The thing that makes this a great car, is that it's really light. 500HP on 1600 lbs.. A Veyron is 4,100 pounds with 1,000 hp. 0.24 hp/lb. This car is 1,600 lbs and makes 500 hp. That is 0.31 hp/lb. So it has higher power to weight than a Bugatti Veyron!!! I love the unique sound too.

When he said $159,000 I was thinking, well, that is a little steep. But when he said 500 horsepower Honda motor (reliable and easy to maintain), Type R close-ratio manual, fully custom (and beautiful I'd add) carbon fiber body work and 1,600 lbs curb weight! At the end of the video you're forced to realize that for $159k, you get a drop dead gorgeous, super exclusive, rolling concept-style super car (no doors or windshield trim!) that has the power to weight ratio and handling of a super charged Atom. For under $250,000 I don't think there's anything that even comes close to this unless your priorities include needing a larger, more luxurious vehicle. Well done, and that's an extremely exciting design!

It is so good to see that Jay has changed his mind on kit cars. He has always been so dead set against them and I can understand that seeing how bad the quality used to be. Modern technology has brought the quality up to par with any other manufacturer like he said. Looking forward to other kit car spotlights in the future! Its an Ariel Atom ! with a kit on top and its 150k ? Thats not being innovative is it ? I like the design but the concept is flawed in my mind and it strikes me as interesting how people pay 150k just to look different..... IMHO I would buy an exotic 911 Porsche or Audi R8 etc get a daily driver and a super car all in one but ....I guess I wouldn't look as cool, I wouldn't care as the drive would be amazing track or road, winter summer raining or not.

I know that visually is not appealing, but for the majority of the Europeans that see the show here on the youtube, we have to pause the video and make all the conversions of lb to kg. Like others channels that already make small subtitles with conversions and other kind of remarks, I suggest that you could do the same somehow. Thanks for the great work and enthusiasm of the show! I don't miss a single video from you guys! :)

Not many motors surpass the K24 in that thing for tuning purposes. It's the base for the infamous K24/K20 hybrid builds that murder everything when swapped in a light civic body. Honda's also known for making the best manual transmissions on the planet, so no letdown there.

when I heard " a more accessable supercar" I was interested, but the more he explained it the less I was interested. looking forward to someone that can actually make something sub 50k, either way I'm happy sticking to my 80's and 90's tuner builds, way cheaper with the same satisfaction. I'd love to see more 80's and 90's custom tuner and muscle builds Jay!

Braden McHenry. No it’s more then an atom with extra pounds. It’s much more beautiful. Has a better aerodynamic. You don’t get the wind on your face and they made extra turbos on it and much more. Carbon is so expensive. The car is worth for it’s price
