Here is my review of a 2016 Triumph Thunderbird Storm. It's 1700cc of delicious motorcycle goodness. Keytags and Stickers available on www.facebook.com.temporarycitizen Insta & Twitter: @Tempcitz
have put 16k on my 2011 Storm. Had just a couple of minor things, brake fluid leaks, squeaking belt, but overall a fantastic experience. Fast, smooth, predictable, reliable, everything I wanted in a cruiser! The brute power and weight does destroy tires quickly, just gotta deal because the performance is worth it. The matte black is ridiculous good too, gets complimented on very often.
Interesting. I've had no brake leak problems and the belt never squeaks, have you adjusted it ? You CAN rip the tire off like any powerful bike. Purchase a scooter if tire wear bothers you.
stuck car tire on my 2013 Storm.......never looked back, just keep popping cheap, second hand ones on and rip through em slower, 20 to 30 bucks a time. Had to re approach slow speed handling, a challenge at first but well worth it.
@@tms372 just catching up, years later after more comments. who hurt you? anyway it's ok, a bike can have flaws you don't have to simp so hard and defend it
I rode this the other day...fkkk exactly my thoughts it’s so comfortable. The riding position with the handle bars...awesome. And the power Damnn! Will be my next bike.
Eleven-hour ride home on the day I bought my Nightstorm - and it felt like I had been in an armchair all the way! I prefer the look of the original long pipes but now I’ve got the Tors, I’m in love with the sound even more. The problem is that I use the throttle to make the sound!
Long or short. Exhaust exit out both sides is awesome. I own 2010 Thunderbird with British Customs hog slayer and cat delete. The parallel twin on these are amazing!
I've owned a 2016 Storm for a year, great bike, no issues. The chap mentioned several times that he could feel the heat, I've never felt any engine heat. And he has six gears.
Loved this review. I’m looking to move from sports/sports tourers to cruisers. And being 6ft 2” and 120kg it’s hard to find a bike that I don’t look like donkey Kong on 😂
Im same size as you mate and looking to do the same, had sports bikes mostly. Currently have a 2009 speed triple, but now looking at these thunderbirds. I do like them.
UPDATE: I know this is 4 yrs old. I bought one of these last year (2022) Its such a beast. Pulled stock stuff out. K&N, BC Hog Slayer pipes. Cat removed. Dyno Tuned. Power band from 83.8 to 88.3 and Tq 103.7 to 111 Ft Lbs. Get it off the stock tires and put a AVON Storm on the rear. I upped the front to a 130. In the twisties it cuts in like crazy! Its not an inline. That would be a Rocket. This is a PARALLEL TWIN. The largest one ever made. For a windscreen I got a ATV generic shield from Amazon that looks great and I found the sweet spot to have no head buffeting. I just spent my winter repainting to British Green and Copper. I have also swapped out the rider pegs for Kuryakyn Mini boards. Custom stuff is now hard to find for this bike but its SOOO worth it. I wish Triumph would have figured out how to market it much better. The biggest complaint, the Clutch pull distance and the Brake leaver. Couldn't we have gotten some adjustable ones??
@@zimtuff It sits low and has a good center of gravity. I have had a 2013 for 7 years this month. I can handle in town and long rides no big complaints.
i can give you that. drove both of them a week ago. the suzuki was the nextbest. a great bike. but too heavy. too clumsy. no power under 2500rpms, just shutter. frontwhell locks half of the time braking, dont know why, the dealer had the same experience. riding position and comfort, good but not top, like the tbird. all the negatives here mentioned, the tbird does excellent. so i just bought it😁
At 6'7" your legs are gonna be too long for nearly anything...lol...I'm 5'8" so I'm looking at a lot of videos to get an idea...of course, sitting in the seat is the key too...which I'll be doing soon...thanks for the review.
@@tms372 i find it strange you say the rocket doesnt turn as well as the storm. I find the rocket to sit much higher up compared to the storm. I can lean way farther into turns where the storm would normally scrape pegs. Maybe it's the difference in riders who knows
@@tms372 I bought a Thunderbird in 2013. About four months later I bought a Rocket III. The t-bird is a great bike but it is a piece of s*** in comparison to the Rocket III. I didn't ride the TBird for a year-and-a-half after I bought the Rocket 3. Tried and couldn't sell it for a decent price although it's a great bike, nobody wants them including the dealership. contrary to what people think the Rocket 3 is only 50 pounds heavier than the Thunderbird with almost double the power (with a little tuning). It has more ground clearance and therefore it leans farther, turns better than the Thunderbird. It is of course faster and every respect. 1700cc vs 2300cc and gas mileage as I have found is virtually the same. The Thunderbird does feel lighter because the seat height is lower giving you more leverage. You only feel the weight when sitting on the bike and pushing it backwards or while trying to carry it on your shoulders. it may be the wide rear tires on these bikes but I can actually stop at a traffic light and not put my feet down for 5 seconds. Slow-speed maneuvering parking lot maneuvering is no problem whatsoever. but I've been riding so-called heavy Cruisers my whole life so maybe it's just easy for me.
Yes there are better bikes out there and not knocking the storm, but that said Harley has a unique ride and sound that is un matched still today. Manufacturers have tried or still trying to tap into that group of customers.
That's the LT, this is a Storm. If you want to see nice come to my channel ;), bat wing type shield, some nice mods and sounds amazing with Hogslayers.
Plastic more plastics more plastic screws don’t fit parts don’t fit right it’s a great bike for five years after that it rattles to pieces I’ve had lots of bikes since 76 -o yess The throttle bodies junk-. The best bike I ever had was a Honda 750 super sport . KZ 1000. Honda night hawk 650 ,Concour. 1000.. M109R. was the worse down the road .
Wrong, the crank is offset by 90 degrees. It's a parallel twin because the cylinder centre lines are parallel. In other words, the guy was right. BTW, even on those twins with the crank centres together, the firing order is usually 360 degrees offset.
@@MrJohnnyorange this is late but since no one answered your question... May inseam is 32 in. The pegs on my 2013 regular Thunderbird a little uncomfortably too far forward. They cause great pain on Long rides because instead of just resting my foot on the peg I actually have to hold it forward and onto the peg as the wind is trying to blow it off. If you have longer legs it may be perfect for you. If you have shorter legs you will have to change the pegs, add floorboards or change the seating position. But I guarantee you you would not ride it over a hundred miles before you're ready to amputate you take your leg.
