It's 2022. Nathan Chen won the gold medal at the Men's Olympics figure skating. He's come such a long way! He has six quad combos in his Olympic gold medal-winning routine. It's incredible to watch where he's come from. And Tara and Johnny's commentary is just as enthusiastic in 2022 as it is here😉 Go Nathan!!
I remember seeing this and thought "I've been hit by! I've been struck by----a smooth criminal!" And I have been a loyal supporter of his ever since. This boy got it goin on! King Nathan officially introduced himself to the American senior skating scene!
The world will know King Chen! Don't ever underestimate this guys inner strength and power and perseverance. He will mow right over everyone and they will have to chase him. I feel so lucky and proud he is our skater! Judges beware he is coming soon!!!
+Samantha Hing He is, but they really held him back here. I think he got 76 last year with no quads or 3axels. The underscoring by the judging panel this year prevented him from winning a deserving national title.
+Davin Yu true, ugh USFS politics has been mentioned throughout the competition but in my mind I'm just like why does it matter when you have young skaters you need to nurse for the next Olympics???
@@samhing Turns out they didn't even need to do that because he is now the best in the world anyways! Even uderscoring him couldn't stop him from getting here!
He is totally different from Hanyu. Masculine grace on ice. Hanyu copied Johnny Weir's unique feminine skating style and costume but still far from the legend.
@@y.h.b.4379 My first figure skating video is Johnny Weir and straightaway I can tell that Hanyu copied his skating style and costume but his performance feels very artificial. Johnny Weir is actually inspired by Russian female skating style, which is why he has feminine elements in his skating. Since Johnny Weir is a gay skater, this style speaks to him but Hanyu just copied everything when he was criticised for having no artistry during Patrick Chan's time.
Yes....this type of music is contrary to the natural affinity of ice skating. It hampers the choreography and precludes the build up and crescendo leading to a dramatic element like a jump.....
I disagree I think fast explosive powerful music is a perfect match for Nathan's style. It would be wrong for someone like Yuzuru but definitely works for Nathan.
Nathan is a revolutionary figure skater, he has changed the world of men’s figure skating a very big ways ever since his entrance to the field. Nathan definitely brought back my interest to watch figure skating again.
Obviously those moves aren’t necessary to win a gold medal 🤣🤣🤣 those are moves you do in gala performances, more for fluff and crowd appeal, not for competition !!! Perhaps to need to study figure skating a van little more closely
Almost no male does a Biellmann…It’s pretty clear you’re a Hanyu fan because he is known for both of those elements, to which I say, his Biellmann is simply incomparable to a proper one and just looks so bad with his bent leg, but the hydroblading is pretty cool simply for how iconic it is to him. But again, no one else really does it so i dont know why you expect Chen to.
