there is no level sensor for the oil in the i-shift so no light coming on in the dash. also if you had your radiator replaced and they did not recheck the transmission cooler lines or the oil you might of had low oil from that.
I think it is just the issue of software calibration. I had the same problem and if you go to dealer they will rip you off. They are trained to do that. You should ask some other mechanic and update the software for $120 and it takes about an hour.
MIKE do they offer or sell parts for this unit,if not ,they want it to come back to them for repair, the oil is everything,i've built transmissions all my life,i'm 68 and this unit works the same way a Honda car did in the 80's,only air and automatic shift, and you are right it all starts with electronic timing, anything that affects shift quality and this unit, even if it is superior in many ways will fail, oil then programming
We have 2 Volvo 2011 D13 I-Shift. All Volvo Dealers don’t know how to fix these Trucks. All Volvo Dealer‘s highway robbery. These two Volvo trucks we have had the Radiator changed on them a few times. After a while I noticed the transmission was giving me problems. I went under the truck and I looked at the site glass on the side of the transmission passenger side. The fluid was low. The hoses on the transmission nowhere was any leaks. I kept thinking why would our trucks not have transmission fluid or below the level line. Then it hit me!!! We had the radiators changed on these trucks both of them. The mechanic that changed the radiator Never bothered to replace the transmission oil back to a Transmisión. There’s two lines that run from the transmission to bottom of the radiator and sends it back to the transmission. Why would these mechanics not top of the fluid back to the Transmisión. Why would they? Their job was specifically the radiator. My question is why didn’t his mechanics notify us that when they took off the radiator transmission fluid was in the radiator housing or bottom part of the radiator and when they replaced, it it leaked out which leaves the transmission under the level line. I’m wondering if this happened to the 2016 Volvo in this video ever had the radiator changed. All transmissions have their transmission fluid cooled by the radiator.
Volvo is the great truck so the I shift but you have to maintain and keep eye on as usual like any other truck today's trucking in USA drivers either don't know anything about the truck they driving or give a Dame about because is company truck on like other contenant drivers to get the license they have to pass thru mechanical knowlage test, keep trucking and be safe out there
if you saw how little the majority of company drivers are paid in the usa for their time, you wouldnt say that. theyre barely paid to drive and theres rarely maintenence instruction beyond bare basics
dont get me wrong 95% of drivers are complete idiots but that goes back to "getting what you pay for". and hardly anyone gets paid enough for anything beyond driving and pretrip/postrip
got a bud who owns a trucking company,he has 10 rolling,he overpays his drivers so he doesn't have to climb in the cab, anymore,in other words seek out owner operators, who like to party, theyover pay,his drivers make 28hr
