I was able to change the filters on my company truck. The dealership wanted to charge them hundreds of dollars. Your video was very helpful since I was able to do it and I am by no means mechanically inclined. Thank you sir.
Great video, thank you. I have a couple of comments to add that might make things go a little more quickly for someone trying this for the first time. When removing the orange clip on the engine-mounted filter, first pull the clip up (as shown in the video) and then squeeze the black plastic between the two orange tabs, not the orange tabs themselves, to allow the clip to be pulled off. To visualize the clipping mechanism, you can rotate the clip 180 degrees while still attached. This allows you to view the clip from the bottom, which makes the nature of the clipping mechanism, and the place you need to squeeze, apparent. One other thing. When you buy the Motorcraft filter, there will be a plastic “clam-shell” addition that comes with it. It is to be added to the hose with the orange clip, if it is not already present. Apparently, this was not part of the original equipment on the truck. If this piece is present, it does not have to be removed or replaced during filter replacement. Google Motorcraft® 6.7L Diesel Fuel Collar Installation , for more information.
Great video!! Don't skip any of the video, remember to squeeze the sides of the red clip before pulling. Watched another video and they left that part out. Had to order the new red clip after breaking the nipple off. Wished I had watched this one first.
Curiosity would get the best of me I would want to cut that filter open the one under the hood to see if there was any junk inside. Another great vid bud 👊
Additional Tip..The square filter slides to one side to remove it from the cover. No need twist electrical connector in the cover, it's not holding the filter even though it looks like it. This part was missing from a few videos. Thanks
Well done. I told you I would check your channel out. I gotta say changing fuel filters is a little easier on my rams though. The oil filter is a pita on the ram though, maybe ford wins there. Lol. I might even give you a like. 👍🏻 Ps. Nice pavement princess. Lol
workplaytv Did you ever watch this serious towing video on 12% grades? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hoHDQ4SKpBI.html I don’t see how a Cummins would’ve handled it any better !😉😁 He kept it under 3000 on the uphill which above 2800 your cutting your own throat anyway cause your hp and torque drop dramatically after 2800
I apologize if this is a dumb question, but when you speak of the part number, is that for OE parts from Ford, or from somewhere else? I just finished changing my oil from your oil change video, now time for this!
Mardegan86: My owners manual says to disconnect the intank fuel pump in line. I was wondering if thats why fuel ran and ran. I was looking for info on this cause I'm about to do mine and to get to that damn "quick connect line" so it is said to be. Is difficult to get to.
If you have a compressor, you can leave the outlet line loose on the top filter and take a rag and air line and pressurize the fuel tank and get the fuel up top a lot quicker.
I have an issue with a 2019 f550. I can't get the bottom filter to come out of the housing, the cover came off, but not the filter. I grabbed some pliers and tried to remove it but it seems like it's stuck, any tips?
Did my filter change for the first time after watching your video, didnt read the manual but I cycled the key like 6-7 times before start up and the primary was still purging air, do you think this an issue? Morning after it seemed fine on startup just couldn't believe it was still priming air out of the system.
How often are you guys changing yours? I just bought a 22 f350 and have been running hot shot secret for that CP4 I’m thinking every 10k change the fuel filters and maybe drain just a jar of fuel once a month but not sure how practical that last one might be 😂
On my 2017 F-250 every time I do the filters “no joke” I primed it over 20 times and it still won’t start right off the bat. Fucker turns over for a while before it fires up. Always been that way. If my pump fails I won’t be surprised. But no matter what I do it won’t prime the whole system after a fuel filter change. Always has had a hard time starting up after fuel filter changes.
I broke that flimsy hose on the orange one. Weak ass piece of plastic. Trying to find a replacement piece. Ordered a doorman’s brand 800-188. Might fit, might not. Fingers crossed 🤞
Tried it on my 2016 6.7 f350. Not good After change and lots of cycles could not get air out and get it started. Had to call dealer to pick up. Now want to try again.
I tried doing mine for the first time but I had about 1.5 gallons coming out of the drain and it didnt look like it wanted to stop, and every video I saw ppl only have a little bit coming out, so I closed the drain back and stopped, how much fuel is normal to come out?
@@straighthotdognobun i had a full tank when I tried first time,, waited until fuel went down to 1/4 of a tank full and tried again and it worked. I guess it's better to do it you're fuel is low. But thank u for advice
So, as the rear fuel filter is draining, is it siphoning fuel from the gas tank at that point? Is the rear fuel filter called the primary fuel filter? And, would it hurt to pour the fuel that drains out of the rear fuel filter back into the fuel tank?
It’s just cleaning fuel out of the lines. I suppose it’s the primary cause it’s closest to the tank. I would use it. Good chance there could be water in the fuel in the bottom of the filter.
That water separator is some bs, I used a oily bucket thinking it was going to be a little bit of water, yeah right, like 3 gallons came out that mfr of good diesel.. use a clean bucket just in case
"You really can't mess this up, it only goes in one way".............NEXT SEEN..........."all right guys so she's in" ....LMAO, GREAT NO INFO INSTALL....
Remember it's not a sample job for everyone and some jobs is no as easy as it sounds or looks ok you guys in RU-vid make it look easy but don't forget you are not finished yet you have to take filters to the proper place for Resacle end all the wasted diesel where you gonna put it in backyard or in the garage for your kids to play with it it takes more time job it's not finished till you Clear up your mess
