2017 - 2020 Ford Fusion - How to Unlock, Open & Start With Dead Remote Key Fob Battery 

I am not one to do this kind of thing but I want to thank you deeply, you helped me, my car turned off and I couldn't start it, I did everything, I disconnected the battery to restart the console and none of that worked until I followed your steps.

When I bought my 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE, I tried out the emergency key and I regretted that. The piece on the door handle, you put the key in too works, but putting it back on, was a problem. In short, it kept falling off. I check the part and the track it clips back on too, no damage was showing. I was lucky all 3 times to notice it falling off and thankfully didn't run over it (or anyone else), and recovered it. The only solution that worked for me because the dealership was going to gladly ask 128 bucks for a replacement and paint matching, I applied one pin drop of super glue on top to keep it in place. This was done in 2019 and still holding today. When the time comes to use it again, a simple swipe of my utility knife (because I carry one around all the time in case of emergencies and I work in a warehouse), will free it. Honestly, Ford could have engineered this better, than making a flimsy part that comes off so easy. Having it slide back, and close by means of a groove track and springs could solve this super easily. So here's a video idea. So how do you open the Ford Fusion's trunk, if the car battery dies? Let's say you get in with the emergency key. Well you still have no power to operate the electric button in the cabin or on the trunk to open it? Is the only solution to pull down the back seats, crawl inside, and pull the emergency release cord?

Once the vehicle is started you can remove the fob from the console, but if you need to restart you will have to put it back in the console. I have used mine without removing the rubber mat but that may not always work.

I just found would seem to be an abandoned 2017 fusion parked on the side of the highway and I noticed there was a pack of Newports in the center console and all the doors were locked so I proceeded to make my own Ford fusion key out of a blank Volkswagen key that I had and thanks to this video I now have myself a nice Ford and a new pack of menthol 100s and I don't even smoke cigarettes anymore but I figure I might be able to get some money out of the cat on this thing

Also the car itself will tell you if you need to change your battery in the fob. I think it'll tell on start up in the cluster

I actually knew this already. My problem is that neither of my key fobs work to lock/unlock the car anymore. I suspect some components in the center console may have gotten wet from water dripping off drink cups I've had in the cup holder. I have to open the door with the keypad on the door, or I could use the emergency key that's more inconvenient. I'm pretty sure the fobs aren't broken because I can start and drive the car as normal after I get the door unlocked.

My key fob just started doing the not detected and restart now or key is needed thank you for the helpful information on what I need to do now for when the battery dies but i am looking for a new battery for the key fob now

Question please. What if the energy battery is dead in the trunk. Let's say i replace that battery but is been sitting for a week so the hibrid is also dead. How do u star the vehicle even with the new battery in the trunk replace

My fob battery was changed 2 months ago by Ford, it does remotely lock and unlock the car, but it does not start the car saying no key found. 2nd fob (same time battery replaced) works.

I find it difficult to slide off the piece of the door handle. Forget it if it is dark. And it takes me at least ten minute to lift the cup holder liner! The batteries are sold in two packs, so I put one in the key fob, and carry the other with me. I will take a regular key any day. We carry around key fobs, think they are wonderful. All the while the fobs contain keys. I find it foolish.

My GPS was working and now it won't. I did reset it . But now has a logo with no GPS left bottom .

So I guess I’m in question if placing the fob facing forward this way like In the video as you show, recharges the battery in the fob? Because my fob hasn’t been working and I lost my second backup fob a while back. Now I’m wondering if I need to go and replace the fob, have battery replaced in it or what are my options?

I am looking for a video that will show me to activate my keyless entry. On my Explorer I can walk to the car and the door unlocks with the Key fob in my pocket. I would like to have my fusion do the same.
