It's actually crazy how the sound is from the 540i with just an resonator and muffler delete. On top of that do a chip tune and you have yourself a beast of a car. So capable.
@DeaglePL94 built b58 vs built n54 do u know who wins n54 does buddy just cause its newer doesn't mean better also I'm 30k+ deep into my 335i e92 pushing 620whp on 9-12psi single turbo with full m3 lsd axles control arms etc also on 23 psi I'm over 800whp+ and I have no issues with reliability what soever but yes the b58 is a cool platform as I enjoy all bmws
I was on the fence between the 2018 440i and the 2017 540i. The 540i is just it for me. A tick slower sue to weight but you can't beat the higher quality and comfort. More space and mature looking. I am 43 and it should suit me more. Only thing I am not sure about is going xdrive or rwd.
all depends how you drive it. if you're driving it in snow or racing from a dig, you'll definitely need xDrive. if you're in a warmer climate, RWD most likely. traction can become an issue if you make more power.
I'm stuck between this same ultimatum. X-drive is mandatory. this man explained so well as to why I'm leaning towards the 5. but im still young and like the sportiness of the 4, the 4 just looks better imo. but that interior is soooo outdated. they go for about the same prices over here in the tri-state area and the 5 definitely seems like the better bang for the buck.
@livinglegacy8429 it definitely is. what it boils down to is what you want. sporty or luxury. for me, I have enough sports cars and the F10 M5 comp didn't give me that "piece of mind" driving it. so the 540 checked all the boxes. still plenty sporty but not a "sports coupe". I always found German cars to be more luxury.
„Its comfy but you can have fun when you want to“ That sentence really seems to summarise it up. I really liked it honestly that you didn’t installed were like „i love it“ and all that but gave an honest review. That it is and at the same time isn’t what you take the car for. Loved your video, very calm and some fun
I have an m550i and I agree at slow speeds it’s dull but as soon as you get on it it comes to life. Makes you want to throw it around all the time which is dangerous
@@tony.nextlevelridesMy only annoying issue I have which my f10 suffered from was shaking 80-92mph. Comes and goes, so far got brand new tires and wheel alignment. Still have it, seems to plague some g30s and badly plagued F10s. Otherwise fantastic car, looking to get a CTSV v2 in 2 years or so next!
the M Performance suspension sits 15mm lower than a standard g30. I was looking at the H&R springs that would lower it another 15mm to 20mm roughly but stiffen up the ride, help weight transfer and keep the vehicle flatter in a corner. won't be low but will handle MUCH better.
He’s so right with the cars not having souls I got a a6 supercharged from a e46 I can’t get over the difference the car enjoyed high rpm. I find myself just cruising more cause the car I feel the car doesn’t even enjoy being shifted
I have a F30 335i and the engine and transmission tune is a night and day difference, I'm sure it's even more on the 5 series cause they really watered the throttle down. this might be my next car because I want what a tuned 335i offers but more comfort and interior quality, perfect balance of a car. btw, how come the window trim is satin/glossy? I thought all M Sport models had the Shadowline trim? also, just out of curiosity, was the hood repainted? seems to have a good amount of orange peel
for the G series, the shadow line trim was a separate option (or base option) while brushed aluminum came at a cost. this one's weird, it had shadow line front inserts, brushed aluminum window trim and side vents (wrapped in the video). for the hood, it has 1/2 PPF on the hood, the day was brutal and had tons of smoke with ash so when I wiped it, it dried funny. I had it paint corrected since!
Pretty expensive to maintain no? Also uses different radiator compared to 340/440 etc.. around $600 and 6 more hoses… Evap goes out is $4k fix or deal with no AC
I'm extremely undecided between 3 cars: - 540i 2018 - m340i 2020 - m3 f80 2015 - m5 f10 2015 I intend to do Stage 2 in any of these 4 that I get, the twin-turbo V8 might not start due to the very expensive maintenance and problems that may arise. As for the M3 f80, the S55 has a crank hub as soon as I use it, and it pulls out a lot, putting me at risk, I'm totally Soviet when it comes to things. And so I'm really between the 540i 2018 and the m340i 2020, I love space and technologies, they say that the ZF8HP transmission of the 540i is second generation, while the m340i is a third generation ZF8HP, I don't know in practice where the difference would be difference between them. So I would like you to tell me which of the cars I should buy, I intend to do stage 2 and then a stage 3, either the 540i or the m340i ?
the transmissions (2nd and 3rd) are nearly identical and EXTREMELY good. I picked the 540i simply because of the luxury, more modern interior (all of the old 7 series features) and having the B58. it's an excellent vehicle with reliability as a piece of mind. I put a deposit on an F10 M5 comp. and just couldn't pull the trigger, I'd never have the piece of mind like with my 540i.
Same engine in a UK M140i is the best, as the body is much smaller and much lighter, and RWD only. Had one for 4 years, a straight line missile. Unfortunately the interior and chassis is just the same as a low end 1 series, so I get the luxury factor of the 5 series.
the M240 here is pretty comparable to the M140 you guys get but Ira at least xDrive, makes it a weapon in a straight line! the 540 is just that, SO MUCH more luxurious than the 1-4 series models!
@robrandall1944 I've done catless downpipe, FTP inlet, BMS intake, CTS charge pipe, Supra HPFP and MHD Stage 2+ e40 map and xHP Stage 3 with a little spice. I'd say it's around 470whp right now, give or take. it's completely transformed the vehicle!
Beautiful car - definitely spend some time scrubbing the steering wheel with cleaner and a cloth, the finish on those steering wheels should be more matte than shiny.
funny enough, I did exactly that when I got home. I had no idea until Taylor drove it and the oils from his hands mixed with whatever was on the wheel already! good catch!
Great car, great review, agree with everything. It can lull you to sleep in comfort mode, but can spice it up a ton if you want in sport. Best of both worlds if you ask me. Love mine. What front spoiler is that? And which CTS downpipe did you go with?
the downpipe is catless, nothing special! here's a link to the front lip. www.ebay.ca/itm/313607064207?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=klydjpsrr82&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=pAxDZw98Tea&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Drove one of these today! It was fully stock and I can't imagine why you'd need anything faster (or honestly why you'd want something as fast). Launches like a rocket the HP has to be underrated. . I'll stick with my V6 Honda manual Accord it's somewhat fast and much harder to get in trouble with. You get to 80 way to fast in these B58''s.
man i am so hyped getting my 540i, but as a true german guy i am getting myself a touring. but i cannot get this sound with beeing legal as for regualtions in germany are retty damn hard for us car guys. but i know exactly which wheels i want on it! :D
I owned mine for about a year now and it's a very hard car to drive, super hard to get used to it but it has very good handling. It's really soulless, the steering is numb and the throttle response is horrendous under 3k rpm but the noise it makes, the pulling power and smoothness is amazing.
@@bradofwar5960 i'm not saying it doesn't pull, it pulls hard from any where on the rev range, it just takes some time for the engine to react when you press the gas under 3k rpm, once the electronics catch up it goes hard
Oh and lick yourself up a pedal tuner. You can adjust the accelerator sensitivity in 3 stages. It will be the most drastic mod you do for the money! In Stage three the response is instantaneous. Best $200-$300 you’ll spend
mine went for milk too... never seen him since hehehe although that car looks more exciting than you guys seen to potray it to be the responce is fantastic and the sound even more so,
i been owning that car for a few months now I'm it's not that I'm afraid of it but that car is a boat at the end of the day and u can also feel the power real quick if it's in sport but i usally cruise at around 80 mph im also a techniam thats only 20 years old and ill like to keep my license clean. but is a spaceship fosure
Killer car Tony! Way to go. Not my taste in the BMW world but it's yours so great! As well the whole world of the new B58 (Well newer lol) is something that will be the engine of the future I think as for the tuning world!
you're right, I believe the comparison was the car going from fame and timid to a weapon. it doesn't just do one thing well, it does multiple things great.
@@tony.nextlevelrides for me personally, I love them. Idk why there’s mixed emotions on the g30 groups on Facebook. Biggest difference for me is less body roll. They feel so much better than stock. No bounciness whatsoever
Just bought myself a 2017 530ix, literally this Wednesday. I am in love with the car. B58 is obviously the best, but it's hard to use its performance without putting yourself and your license at risk. B48 is still fast and fun, main difference is it needs maybe 1 sec to build up the boost or to downshift, then it goes. Still a great car, I am so happy I got myself a 5-series, I recently compared my car to a 2020 430i Gran Coupe, boy that thing's interior is just two leagues below 5-series.
you're absolutely right! I like it though, tame and refined in lower settings so it's nice to drive around but turns into a weapon when tuned a bit and taken to higher speed.
Hey it's billy again so I looked at the mhd and they have a super one and it's 561 and there's one that is under for 317 I just don't know with one to get can u please help me on with one I should purchase?
@@tony.nextlevelrides yea. i been on youtube trying to decide for months. i really dont like the 440s interior. I do love that M4 look that it has. But you sold me on this blacked out 5!
I just got a 2017 bmw 540i with 39000 miles on it. I've been watching videos and yours are great I'm trying to figure out what is the best way to go about getting more power to my car. Can you tell me what sites to go on for the down pipe, how to get the tunes to make it an all around beast like yours . This is my first time owning a bmw kinda lost on what and were I'll take any good advice and help
I'd honestly follow my nodding process, it's completely transformed the vehicle! Here's what I'd recommend. FTP turbo inlet CTS downpipe (or VRSF) xHP Stage 3 (I can help with settings) Supra HPFP MHD Stage 2+ (depending on fuel) these would transform the car into an absolute weapon. for sites, not sure to be honest. I got the FTP inlet off eBay direct from supplier for cheaper.
@billy300m people used to get the HPFP from a place called merlin diesel. now you can get them in many places, judt pick the cheapest. MHD'a website will show you what maps you can get and the cost.
@@tony.nextlevelrides interesting, It’s been a minute since I’ve driven mine so when I get back to it I’m going stage 2 and muffler delete. Thanks for the responses
Merry Christmas hey it's billy I ordered the stuff on the list u sent me . Haven't got the stage 2. Or 3 with one will be the best. And I figured I'll get the Buger intake last what u think
@@tony.nextlevelrides ok after I sent the message to you I went ahead and bought the bms as well so know wating for stuff to come in then get it install then I'll get the tune. Which tune is better stage 2 or 3?
I don't have much experience with the CLS as I'm a big fan of BMW in general. I'm sure it's a good car but it's also tough to think of another being significantly better than the 540.
@@47fux 17-20 540i is the pre-LCI, they will be cheaper and don’t have the “TU” B58, 21-23 540s have the slightly updated B58, new headlights/tailights, and updated interior. 21-23 will always be more 10-15k more dependent on miles and spec. I got ‘18 540 for $27,8k (51k miles).
@@tony.nextlevelrides ya i dont pick my used cars based on color , its more condition and cost then hopefully the color is solid, i usually hard pass @ tan interiors though lol, unless its a crazy deal
@@diangelo6686 I got my x3 35i for $4600. White with tan interior. Not my first choice at all. Tan in used cars gets to dirty. Especially tan carpet .. not complaining just saying lol.
