I believe the ho difference is because the racha it’s manifold is different. The second gen b58 has six ports instead of two, making it better flowing.

before you go and buy the mods just so you know that if you change your DP your will have check engine light up unless you unlock your DME too to code that problem out.

Cold intake no...standard air box is 100% more effective with a panel filter, you will actually lose power and get alot more heat soak with a cone filter. I know a guy in the UK running 700+ bhp with standard exhaust (just decat) and standard intake.

K&n or afe drop in is better than a cone filter, unless it has it's own box

A couple of videos are surfacing of the 340i's suffering from loosing power from heat soaking due to not upgrading the cooling system ( air to water intercooler and heat exchanger). And now that I go back check out peoples videos. Alot of people have not upgrading the intercooler. After 3 runs the car starts struggling on the role races.

Bro this ain’t N54 and you can’t make 500hp with less than $1500. 1. OEM plugs are fine. 2. Intake is not necessary on B58, doesn’t add power. 3. Flash Tune must be custom, no OTS will hit 500. And JB4 is definitely not the safest. MHD and BM3 are currently behind… MGF and EcuTek are too dogs. Custom tune will run you closer to $800 + Dyno time. 4. Catless DP that’s 👍🏻 $350 min 5. Fuel is a good point - any fueling upgrade starting with the TU pump will run $900 minimum. Please research.

i have a 2013 335i, it has the n55 engine, which has a plastic charge pipe stock, doing a tune i blew it up immediately (had to get an aluminum one) does the b58 have a plastic charge pipe?

You got a few things totally wrong ,,stock air box with filter & hot climate mod flows better & colder, U need a trans tune to remove TOURQUE limits .

Besides the engine being the most reliable what else should I look out for before purchasing a 330i. The m340i is out of my price range. Ive only seen several 340i with about 50k miles. I would want to purchase an extended warranty on the car because I don’t trust the longevity of any German/european car

Aftermarket intakes are terrible for performance they soak up heat from the engine and end up slowing it down

My B58 x5 runs smoothly and quietly. Why screw up a good design. Raw power and sound will increase wear and reduce longevity

JB4 scks get a BM3 if you can and also you aint picking up 180 whp for 1500 !!!!!!! - my m235 has just a DP a FMIC and a tune and thats easily near 3000 - never herd a CAI did anything

Homeboy you need to express the importance of keeping your system cool. Across the board 100hp increase = 1 step colder plug from stock, also intercooler is a necessary mod as well even on a stock car.

A cheap airfilter that will lose you power and pull less cold air along with a piggyback tune are not going to be your best options.. scratch that and go with dinans bolt ons and tune or bootmod3 tune. Dont cheap out or you will regret it when all the excitement is through, and stay the fuck away from that air filter lol!

Intake is a waste of money, just makes noise. To make the most power(on a budget) with the stock turbo you need to upgrade the fuel pump, catless downpipe, and a tune (not jb4 for max potential). Videos like this with misinformation suck, please fact check when modding your cars people. Even with these mods 500 might not be reached without doing a few other things i.e. meth injection. The B58 is an amazing platform, I have a 340i and have a catless downpipe, dorch s2, mhd e40 tune, and xhp s3. My car feels wicked fast but not sure 500hp fast 🤷‍♂️

For E85...does the factory BMW X5 fuel pump, fuel lines, injectors, and rail support this type of fuel? I know for a fact that to use E85, you need E85 compatible parts.

Lol you don’t need a pc or Android to use bm3, they added MacBook and iPhone compatibility a long time ago. Also the stock intake actually gives you better IAT’s meaning you won’t heat soak as quickly and you’ll have more consistent runs. Instead of buying an intake I’d put that money into a TU pump (from 2nd gen B58) or get a better aftermarket HPFP. This will allow you to run a little more ethanol mix and make the opening bigger so your engine can get more out your turbo
