2017 BMW X5 plug-in hybrid 

Great review Purchased the 2017 40e used with low miles and absolutely love it. As is the case with any vehicle, it is all about personal preference, we live in the city and generally have shorter trips so this is a perfect option. As others mentioned, the benefit of purchasing this vehicle used is the significant price savings and BMWs great CPO warranty.

I just bought the 2018 version of this vehicle, and I love it. This is the best, and most honest review I have seen. I would have preferred the diesel, but my wife wanted the hybrid. She has a 3-mile (one way) commute to work, so this vehicle is somewhat practical for her use. Love the vehicle, but it is definitely not a Prius!

A plugin hybrid diesel would be the best of both worlds - in fact also a towing monster.

BMW & Porsche are the prime suspects of price gouging, consider they cost quite a bit for their base cars but every single other option (which competitors have as standard) is a ~$1000 more for each option boxes checked. BMWs all drive well, and I did fancy a 330e for some time as well. However the value & BMW cannot be said ever in the same sentence. Then we have the ownership cost; BMW are driven almost exclusively by nouveau-riche or pretend rich folks in Toronto who practically race every stoplight, dart into the smallest most dangerous gaps, and likely don't know what a "turn signal" is (are they optional too on BMW?) which makes insurance premiums the top bracket. That's before you factor in the ownership costs; yes the 4 year maintenance coverage is nice but what about when parts start breaking? No wonder BMW gives great lease rate only up to 48 months; most owners would immediately turn their vehicles in & sign another lease to avoid the insane costs of owning one.

Can BMX might increase the battery storage capacity? The same amount but with higher Whr. capacity? More milage capacity in electric mode

How can you increase the storage capacity of the batteries 🔋 for the 40E? In other words to increase the electric mileage capacity?

I never understood hybrid SUVs. If you care about fuel economy don't buy a 4500 lb car. If you want to save money, the extra cost of hybrid system takes over a decade to break even. If you want to save the environment, you are supporting third-world strip mining to get lithium. So it's really for shallow poseurs.

the interior of the bmw x5 e drive in my country is pretty bad for the price, the door handles are silver plastic and the trim feels awful.

the hyundai santa-fe is better!

So lets compare this future not proof car with the chrystler pacifica hybrid, for $20k more with the BMW you get: 10km less range, way less cargo space, 10MPG on hwy, 2 seats removed.....whoever get this hybrid is simply absorbed into how others will see them into their BMW obsolete SUV, sad....
