Thank you for this video. My husband's 2019 Fusion was backed in the back of our double single stall garage and couldn't get it. Once I found the comment to have the car turned OFF. It finally started working again. THANK YOU!
I work at a very busy auto auction and this happens very often. Mostly you can use the bypass method successfully. If all else fails, sometimes you can literally hit above the gearshift knob with your fist and it will decide to work. Good luck
I sat with my car waited 8 hrs for a tow truck when I miraculously came across this comment and it was like I waved a magic wand 🤦♀️. Did anyone to have issues after this 🤔☺️
Thank u! I'm was literally having a break down cause I was stuck. I tried it for 20 mins and it finally went into gear....after I started crying lol. Wrench symbol is still there but I'm in gear and going home. Thank u, again!
Mine was doing the same thing. Mine would not go into neutral so as I was looking into the fuse box I noticed my Bushings head came off from the shifter cable in the shifter cable is not hooked up. Maybe this will help someone.
Your comment saved me last night, I've had the bushing issue before and this time it wasnt that, but I was reading your comment and I took a look into the fuse box, push all of them down and shifter worked! In other words, your comment made me look somewhere else haha
It’s correct! I have the same problem very often and when this happen just taping on (very hard ) and always resolve the situation (still ), I believe I was the only people whit this old style (but infallible method).
@@Nickthecarguy thank you. But I’m trying to override the shift lock to shift into gear. This is only the 4th time this happens. Other three got fixed by turning off, exiting, locking, reentering and starting. This time it’s been 18 hours and still nothing.
My son is stranded out of town today with this issue. He tried the console slot with key, lights came on in shift dial, but still wont shift out of park. Are you supposed to try to shift it while the key is in the console slot with the shift dial lights on? He's going to try disconnecting the battery next.
Ya thats crap. If you have to push on the brake its not right... 1) The release must work with NO power (a dead battery) So everything your doing has power... FAIL..
This video saved me! I thought I was gonna be stranded but this worked like a charm. Thank you! .... also does anyone know if this happens often or should I get it replaced?
The park light on my gear shift is blinking and when I do what’s in this video it works but when I put it back to park it tells me I have a Shift SYS Fault
Thanks for this video. My care has done this randomly countless times today. It's happened in the past but not like this bad. Does anyone know what causes this? Is it a break issue. I've been able to fix it a lot by pressing down on the park break than releasing it. But today that wasn't working. Luckily it just released on its own but I'll keep this video in mind. I've never tried it this way
What about a shift system fault? I have a 2017 Fusion Sport with 7500 miles that won’t stay in drive or reverse or neutral. When I turn the dial it turns, but turns itself back to park and throws a message on my dash saying “shift system fault”.
Is there anything put in place to prevent someone from switching gears, from Drive to Reverse, while the car is in motion? I'm a 2018 fusion hybrid owner and can't seem to find that answer anywhere online.
New cars have a safety feature that protect the car. Nothing will happen. Go drive a old school vehicle with a manuel trans and you will grenade your transmission shifting wrong
I have the same problem, my car is in drive and it won’t allow me to shift to park and i can’t find out why!? Any suggestions, only one i receive was to replace the whole shifter
@@cranbers I got mine on fordpartsgiant.com I typed in the Vin to the vehicle and found the module it showed on the bottom replaced by and it have the updated part number I highlighted that number and add it in the search box and checked out with the item my updated part number was HG9Z-7P155-D depending on your vehicle it might be different
@@Nickthecarguy So to elaborate, my car has locked out the gear shift knob 3 days in a row, its been like 35 - 40 degrees out. Eventually it ends up working again maybe because car warms up. All you did was replace the "selector assy-transmission? and that was the fix? Such a strange problem. Really frustrating. It says same part number for my car as well. Did you see an install guide anywhere?
Hey man mine keeps locking in drive. Why? More specifically, I can shift down to neutral but no further unless I turn my car off and it doesnt always happen.
@@johncastille8849 I don't blame you! Got mine home, put it in neutral and engaged the parking brake, a screen came up telling me to press L to keep it in neutral mode, and after I did another screen popped up telling me to press the brake to unlock the gearshift. Working fine now 🤷♀️ really weird.
@@kimberlylouie3748 Its nothing to worry about, just annoying. I have a 2017 and its looking like the 2020 is the last year for Fusion cars so im thinking pretty hard about switching lol.
