Its time to check and/or change your interior Cabin air filter on your 2017 FORD Mustang. This is a "how to" or Do it yourself (DIY) video so you can replace the cabin filter yourself and save money.

Don't take the word of a shady mechanic. The process of changing or checking your interior cabin air filter is simple. It only requires one special tool called a Torx tool. The job requires the TORX 20 screwdriver which is shown in this video. Contains paid product placement. Check out my other Mustang videos if this was helpful.

Air flow according to Ford is from outboard to inboard so the filter should be installed with the arrow pointing inboard or down. Otherwise a good video...

lol the filter definitely goes in with the arrow pointing DOWN or towards the drivers side, the air is pulled from the outside, so yeah.........

True because when the filter was pulled out by that flap, the flap hinged at the bottom. When it was pushed back in, it was hinging at the top.

If you are physically able to get on your back on the passenger seat, with your legs flopped over the passenger front seat, and your head on the floor in the front passenger footwell, just look straight up. With a flashlight on your chest, you will perfectly see what you are working on and can feed the filter straight up into the hole. It's a little hard to get your body into this contorted position, but it makes the job so much faster and easier!! We have the convertible, so when the top is down, you can't get dirt on the headliner.

The arrow should be pointing downward not upward ...the air comes from outside of the car and filters the air so you can breathe a clean air...but great video though!!!

do you know if there are other good non-oem ford cabin filters available? i used to buy an aftermarket charcoal cabin filter for my subaru but that brand only does japanese cars sadly... just wondering.

+fabulousprofound ---> it's generally not something that most people worry about much. The aftermarket cabin filters are almost an exact replica of the oem version. If you can find a charcoal filter I guess that may help filter out some odor in your car, but the ones I have seen are made of paper and the seem to do a good job.

How come when you take the filter out the flap is folding downwards and when you put it back in the flap is folding upwards?

+Kevin Budinger --- Good eye! The last person who looked at the filter, had it installed upside down. Remember, when you put it back in, make sure that arrow is pointing up.

The air flows from outside thru the cowl and down thru the filter and into the system. The Arrow needs to point down as this is the direction of the air flow thru the filter.

I agree with@@briancampbell4955. Just removed my factory installed one and the arrow was pointing DOWN. I'm 100 certain of this. Helpful video, though.

I think he did it right -- I took out the filter entirely and set the fan to high and stuck my wet thumb in there. The bottom of my thumb felt the wind. Try it. You'll see he's right....the air is flowing up from the bottom, so, arrow goes up.

fenderstratguy wrong. The arrow points towards the stereo. I just took mine out and it was full of dust and debris on the opposite side of the arrows. Meaning the air is coming from the right towards the left.

@@fenderstratguy Go to 2:10 of the video of WHEN he is pulling it out, you will see that the flap on the end is on the bottom which folds up. In that same regards, looking at the cabin air filter which I am right now, the arrow is pointing down to the ground. Also when I pull out my filter, it was the SAME as it is when jakeguitar01 pulled it out. So long story short, WHEN he put it back in, he put in in wrong. But apart from that, he has helped me as this is my first time about to change the cabin air filter. Now to put it in.

@@fenderstratguy Look at the flap that he pulls to remove the filter. The fold is on the left. Now look when he puts it back. It's on the right. He did reverse the filter.

Leave it to Ford to make a simple process as difficult as possible. My Toyota and Honda don’t require a torx bit or anything other than my fingers.

Push the turn signal arm down to signal you are turning left. Lift up the turn signal arm to signal you are turning right.

Here's a secret. When I sell my car it will have the ordinal filter in place. This is the worst placement I've ever seen . My C-6 corvette I could change the cabin filter in literally 30 seconds without a single tool
