Coming off a busted hip a few months prior, I really needed this run as a ramp up to Western States and Leadville 100. I knew my son, Zach, would be joining me for the 52.4-mile jaunt up and down the shores of Lake Superior . . . but we didn't expect the finish/start line to be quite so crowded at 2:30 AM! 8 started and 8 finished the double . . . a new record.
