I work at a Honda dealership and can confirm transmission issues. Someone from American Honda (corporate) brought in a company Type R and it was completely missing second gear.

The car overheated because at 1:36 there is a maple leaf stuck to the intake.

As a die-hard Honda fan and a member of the Gran Turismo generation that grew up idolizing all the Japanese sports cars that we couldn’t have here in the US... man, I really don’t like the Type R. It’s a Civic but it’s absolutely massive. It’s a Civic but it’s terribly expensive. It’s a Civic but it’s so obnoxiously styled and loud. I feel like this car is trying to overcompensate for what it is. The original Type R’s were performance kings but they weren’t so in-your-face about it. I’m not saying it’s a bad car; it really is amazing. It’s fast, *really* fast. No torque steer in a FWD car? Comfortable and user-friendly enough to daily? That’s last bit is certainly not something any other Type R Honda really was, save for maybe the DC5 Integra. But it just doesn’t “seem” like a Civic Type R to me. It feels like a kitted out Honda with the biggest bodykit stuck to it; the kind of Honda you could build after unlocking all the upgrades in a Need for Speed game. It doesn’t act the part of “factory sleeper”, or failing that, a “factory club car for the street”. It’s just feels a Civic that’s bigger than it should be, wearing an even bigger skirt. The way modern car design, trends and safety standards are headed now may mean we never get another raw, tight, and classy factory club racer like the original EK9 and DC2 Type R’s, but regardless, I don’t feel like this was a step in the right direction for introducing a new incarnation of the Type R nameplate.

I remember having my wisdom teeth removed a day before Christmas. I couldn’t eat Christmas dinner or open presents around the tree. This made my Christmas and was the perfect gift, the length of the video was just right, and the video was great as always. Thanks Mr. Regular... and the Roman too I guess.

I love it, simply because it's so polarizing. It's not necessarily the prettiest and I really wish those vents were functional (or gone), but you have to appreciate simply because people have such strong opinions about it.

I'm mid forties and I was modding Hondas in the 90s. Maybe they made it for people like me. I like it and can afford to buy one.

Honda should make a more conservative looking version and let you decide how crazy you want your styling online. Or just offer two body versions. Shouldn’t be too much to ask for a few different plastic bits.

The Blue Lives sticker really threw me, wasn't expecting that but I'm sure it helps whenever he gets pulled over on the Western NY thruway.

I drove one of these before getting my Accord. I just couldn't do it. There was way too much of a premium they were tagging these cars at, and it made it not worth it in my book. It's a hot car, for sure, and I'd rather have this over the Focus, Golf R, and the STi. They're all a little ugly in their own ways, but these cars are designed to look a little silly.

I never before in my life clicked on a RCR video this damn fast. Was worth it. Yeah that’s what happens when v-tec kicks in yo.

Civic turns 45 this year. And it looks like it is having a mid life crisis. I'm sure it is great and all, but I can't help looking at it and thinking that it is like that uncle that desperately wants to be cool but just ends up looking douschy. Gimme a 94 itr or an eg hatch with a b16 any day. I don't care how much slower it is. It just feels right. (And I'm not a Honda fanboy either, I'm currently wearing a Subaru hat, it's just that some Honda's do make me nostalgic for the days of playing initial d in the arcade and having impromptu car meetups in the asian grocery store parking lots).

Also, spraying wax on a car and then grinding around dirt with an old microfiber towel is a sure way to have a million swirls in no time... there's no safe way to wipe dirt from a car, just wash it or let it stay dirty until you can wash it properly.

Yes. I’m a teenager. Yes. I’m 18. Yes, I like the Honda Civic Type R. I like it for being unique. And yea, it may have problems. But I mean it’s 2018 now, and almost 2019, so we may get a cycle transmission and heating fix. I like the way it looks (fuck off fake vents. Replace ‘em with working ones.) the headlights look nice, the wing is cool, reminds me of the hot wheels I’d buy as a kid. Y’know, the wacky looking ones like Twin mill n shit. I enjoy the satisfactory flow of the character lines, the aerodynamic features, and the little niche options that are for someone like me. (Want carbon? We got a shit ton, mirror covers, and wing panels) Chrome is meh, and I love that it’s still practical. It makes decent gas mileage, and it is comfortable. It’s got a good line of sight, and an enjoyable sound from inside at high gear. I love it’s handling, it’s responsive, and the brakes aren’t mushy. There.

I'm trying to get into the mind of whoever it was that styled this car. And I have come to the conclusion that he/she sat down at a desk with a mallet and a children's shape sorter, then smashed all the shapes through the wrong hole

...I'm kinda impressed at how ugly they made it. Achieving that lack of style takes effort.

Louder=Power. Taking mufflers off do help make a car a small bit faster. The 3 things an engine needs. Air. Fuel. Exhaust. Increase any of those your increasing your power. Exhaust flow increases when you take mufflers off
