I bought mine in 2017 it was a 2016, 3 miles on it, it was a lemon. I put 4000 miles on it in 8 months. It was in the shop at Kia for 3 of those months. Cat converter went out, the latch that tells your car you have a full tank, broke and while gassing up speed gasoline all over me, the transmission went out, and the third and final thing was this same knocking. They matched my price for a new 2017, 0 miles, put the money I paid into the new one, and said thank you for your business. I got a lawyer involved to get the second car and not have to pay 30k for it!
The transmission failure is happening on 2020-Q1 2022 models of the Kia Soul and Kia Telluride. It’s only the ones from a few select factories that either corrupted the ECU/TCUs programming during install to new machinery or the machinery had a glitch in it cause the ECU/TCUs files to be corrupted, causing the computers to panic and seez the transmission and sometimes the clutch with it. What it was doing was acting fun till a very specific situation happened (where the number values such as: Transmission_Resistence (“93”) Read_as_unit (“unit_conversion . multiplyer”) Engine_throttle_HP_ torque_Map (“90, 120, 140, 160, 180, 194 Or 198”) CompareValues (“Transmission_Resistence”) W/ (“Engine_Trottle_Hp_Torque_Map”) Using (“transmission_resist_Engine_Power_Map”) 192-689-1003\CMDDUMB . Function\ ERROR 403V2; Comparison Function ERROR; “The system has encountered a major error attempting to reach dependent static value file “Transmission_Resist_Engine_Power_Map_ comparison”… The files are corrupt…. Run function (“Send_Info_ECU”). That corrupted file causes the engine to change gears and rev the engine along with kill the CVT system sence it’s a IVAT. This makes the car panic and cause the issues said above witch sneezes the transmission. Rip…. And oof I’m out of time on YT cause acreen lock lol Ecu Cmd:
So i gotta get a lawyer? not having this issue yet but going back to dealership today for the cat recall, i already went in for it assuming they replaced it but they just did a computer update. now i gotta go in again. at least i have a case number with kia corporate so the dealer cant screw me this time
People need to join up and file another class action lawsuit against Kia. My friend's car is doing the same thing both her and her mom, you know what I noticed that once any Kia soul is close to 100,00k that's when the car starts doing the knocking rod noise. It's not one car it's mostly all of them, I work on cars, and I am telling you I lost count of how many people I see with that problem 🤦🏾♂️
@kellystjohn9677 Take it to the dealer first because it's still under warranty. You will need to rebuild or replace the engine, and it's gonna cost at least 1500 to 3000k to fix it.
Do your oil change at 2k or 3k, not 6k 😂 do not listen to kia 6k oil change. Your car will have rod knock issues. I used to have a lot of issues until I understood how cheap they made this kia. Pistion rings cheap.
It is all about how you break in the engine in your car and how your drive it And also oil changes and making sure it holds the right amount of oil and type I have 2015 kia soul 2.0 142,000 and going 💪 Pray for me 🙏 😆 CHANGE YOUR OIL RELIGIOUSLY AND WITH THE GOOD STUFF LIKE CASTROL OR MOBILE ONE EVEN PENZOIL IS GOOD
Dude you can change the oil every month and they will all fail eventually. You can't fix met shavings clogging the oil ports that lube the rod bearings.
Op, the thing that matters is that you use synthetic oil and not conventional. That's how you get it to last long. Conventional oil overheats and starts to evaporate through the pressure relief system. Synthetic oil has a higher temperature tolerance. Kias are prone to overheating and if you're like me, I burn through engines because I'm trying to make it faster....lol
They're not designed to be driven like a maniac. Most younger kia owners don't change oil regularly and try to zip drive them like race cars. I have a 2013 Sorento I4 2.4liter Gdi with a 130,000 miles . Denso plugs, full synthetic oil, new pcv valve once a year and it still purrs like a kitten.
My wife's 2020 gets oil change at Kia before its due. Has 90k miles on it doing this very thing. So no you don't have to be running them hard. Kia motors are notorious for this.
@@Bahksanks-Broadcast I'll let you know as soon as Kia diagnoses my wife's. But they are saying they won't get to that point until the middle of January.
Some cars are just problem cars it’s not always the owner’s fault. I sincerely hop your car takes you far, especially with the care you take of it. Don’t get too confident though. Car problem are expensive and they can literally come out of nowhere. I don’t want you to get too disappointed because Kia does have a lot of duds. I drive a 2010 2.0 I4 Soul manual trans 179k miles. Wish me luck too because I love my car.
As of today KIA is putting a new cvvt gear in our engine that failed At their cost. Only bad thing is they're not confident that it will fix it and think the engine might need replaced. But they are going to try the cheapest route first unfortunately. I can say I was impressed because they are paying for our rental car and paid 50% of the 3 weeks we paid at $500 a week.
There is a class action suit right now. They are replacing these 2.0l Nu motors because of this. The deadline is December 7th! They won't cover mine because I'm past the 150k extended warranty. Kia and hyundai are the worst car companies in the world with garbage products 😒 and terrible customer service
I would say carbon or gungy oil build up in the oil distribution channels that run thought the block and pump oil into the head. Another thing would be a submerged oil pump failure. The submerged oil pump is the mechanically driven oil pump that sits in your oil pan that pumps oil up to the engine heads for the cams. Last thing and one of the most common failure points among Kia/Hyundai engines (specifically the 1.8T i4, 2.0 NA i4, and Hyundai 2.4 NA i4) are carbon build up on the inner valve head lip (the one that makes contact with the angled inserts in the valve head) that makes it so the carbon hits the valve head cause lack of compression and the sound. By the sound I can guarantee you that it’s lack of lubrication in the valve head causing friction between the cams and the valve spring caps. That sound is usually not heard due to the oil damping the sound, but without oil you can here it. In conclusion, it’s definitely gunky oil build up in the oil distribution holes. Edit: rewatched the video, and yeah, your engine is screwed. valves are hitting the pistons... so earther get new valves and valve seats put in the heads, or replace the engine... Edit 2: Or your conrods are banging into something, like the wrist pins are bad, meaning the pistons jiggle around on the conrod, causing the noise...
Ive done changed cam shaft sensor, an engine flush (once) w. Liqio moly, chanhed oil, added lucas oil, and then changed spark plugs ... Tap tap tap is still going on.
@@aliciawilliams3762 I guess you would pull the valve cover off by unbolting it and using a crow bar to pry it up as you would any engine (because of the seal), take a screw driver, and poke the thing down though the oil reservoirs, then use a small flashlight to look down in them. if look clean, then flush the engine to remove the residue. also, do a compression test before doing anything. if you have low compression on the cylinder making the knocking sound, then you have bent valves/piston slap (if your engine gets off timing, the valves can hit the pistons, if its an interference engine). if you have valve slap, then just replace the engine or just have the head redone (have a machine shop reboar the valve seats and install new valves). but don't expect anything I say to work, as I am just a 12 year old who loves cars.
Just change the oil by ur self and check fluids every month doesnt matters what brand if u have a leak u can damaged u engine lucky is not happen on hwy please other point u want a race car buy the ones with 2seats this mean sport car
Happened to our 2019 kia forte. Low and behold it was a clogged or dirty oil filter which cause the oil pressure to be way below the spec. Changed both and I have zero issues. Of course it could be different cause in some cases. We would drive, there would be some noise and shaking and then it would stall. I like this type of problem 😂
2019 Kia Forte LXS 82162 miles Engine knocking sounds the exact same My question is, what is the problem and what is the solution so I don’t get scammed at the dealership like last time
My 2018 threw a rod at 75k miles with no warning two weeks ago and Kia says they will not help us. Power train warranty only covers the original owner. KIA is scamming people and there will 100% be a class action for these motors.
