2017 L5P Duramax EDGE CTS2 Monitoring

Hey guys, now that EDGE Products™ has released the 2017 updates for the L5P, enhanced monitoring is available to those of us who want to know more about how our vehicles are functioning beyond the factory gauges!
This video was taken minutes after uploading and installing and the monitor itself came off my old LBZ, so the CTS2 is not vehicle specific for those that already have one. I took the video after selecting a few new PIDs, and there seems to be quite a few emissions system probes that the CTS2 picks up. Time will tell how accurate they are, but this is the first step to getting that precious data that potentially allows us the ability to be more proactive about how this platform performs and be more informed owners!
As always, feel free to ask questions in the comments, as I always answer them to the best of my ability. You don't have to "press like, and subscribe", as the purpose of this channel is simply to put content out for that niche of diesel lovers, like myself!
EDIT: Guys for those of you watching, I have had some issues with the monitor randomly shutting off, shutting off from changing to certain PIDs or setting alarm points, and then today 2/23/17 the monitor is saying it cannot communicate with the vehicle. Now I know this isn't specific to the L5P and these monitors have done that through all the generations, especially after updates that are "bug fixes"....EDGE Products™ has very solid customer service and I'm sure this will be resolved without too much of a hassle.

I just installed in my 2018... It keeps giving me an alert about the DPF Regen Status PID is out of range when the DPF Status is off or 0. I am unable to adjust the alarm range for this PID. Any ideas?

What kind of boost are you seeing on your display? Part & full throttle. Thanks Dan.

truckguyjoe No boost gauge from the factory L5P on the CTS2 brother. Probably one of the biggest letdowns of the new platform and the CTS2. I done know if it's because Garret no longer makes our chargers or what? I wish I had something better for you man'

I know you have HSP products on your LBZ but WCF just released some parts for the L5P

Ryan Kurtz I have nothing but the utmost respect for Jason Wehrli and his craftsmanship. He was fabbing up triple kits for Duramax motors at like age 19. The guy is insanely talented and I'd run any of his stuff. At the time of my other build, Joe at HSP just had a beautifully done, powder coated delete kit with y-bridge, hot & cold side intercooler piping, heat coated/modified uppipes, and I personally had seen his products. WCfab, HSP, SDP, you can't go wrong with any of them. Quality/customer service is great, and fit/finish is outstanding.

Oh I didn't know that! Thats impressive. Where is Joe's egr on his website? Does it come with the y bridge? They say you can delete the egr with the 3" y bridge

Ryan Kurtz it's not on their website, give them a call, and you can make the kit for your needs and look through their powdercoating options and pick a color. I picked a slate grey metallic and it looked awesome in my black LBZ

Did you delete the dpf? And if so did edge provide the tune to do so ? Because I have the same truck as you and I’m trying to do an exhaust system and DEF delete but there saying I need a compatible tuner

Robert Lamb no this monitor is simply a piggyback off the factory sensors and allows you to watch more parameters. The L5P ECM has proven to be damn near impossible for tuners to crack. There are no available tunes for these trucks, therefore deleting emissions equipment will throw multiple codes, and more than likely put the truck into limp mode.

Does this monitor EGT without the addition of any probes? I have a 2019 L5P

Scott French not in the traditional sense with the sensor coming off the manifold, but it does have EGT post turbo, post DPF, post SCR etc.

So I just traded my ppei tuned 15 Iml for a new 17 L5p kept my cts2 do I have to do anything to it or just plug it in? Also any new news as far as tuning these trucks??

Kyle Van Zee you’ll need to take the unit off the truck and go to Edge Products website and update your CTS-2. Use the supplied cord to connect. Your monitor will probably tell you that it’s registering a different vehicle at first, but I believe it just asks you to acknowledge that and you might have to set up your gauges again. If you have any trouble let me know and I’ll see if I can be any help!

Bajaheat that seems to be the consensus, although some tuners remain confident that they will. I guess only time will tell but I’m not holding my breath!

I heard banks is working on something called a derringer tuner for these trucks but it's outside the ecu wait and see it's a start I guess

Everythingchevy 603 probably low 14s with a good launch. The limiting factor would be the factory governed speedometer @100mph and/if you were to trap that fast

Eliteage As of right now, no. I'll wait until I'm deeper into the warranty and they work the bugs out. I'm excited to see the power lurking inside these L5Ps

Im planning a purchase soon but considering just waiting for the 2018 model just for any bug / glitch reasons ...600 hp with tuner gonna be easy to achieve you think (and safe) ?

Eliteage Safe is a relative term lol....600 rwhp will cause this trans to commit suicide...it's over 200hp over stock and the resulting torque would be almost double that. The determining factors for fuel are going to be the factory lift pump and and the Denso HP4 high pressure pump. I'm curious how it will fair against last generations CP4...I've heard good things so far

Dan Evan didn't they bulk up the trans as well? I'm in the market for a duramax ...thinking about waiting for 2018 that way it's more affordable lol and I can get exactly what I want ...and any problems should be fixed by then

Eliteage they did improve the trans, but just how much is the question...enough to confidently and consistently put 600/1200 wheel through it in stock form? No....In my experience, coming from 3 built diesels, 2 of which were automatics that I experienced stock and with the built trans....(full Billet shafts in my cummins) you really don't realize how much power you're losing to the actual ground through parasitic driveline loss, slipping in the trans, torque converter not being able to lock up quick enough, etc...the feeling of a rolling into the throttle with a big single, good tuning, and good built transmission in 5th with the converter locked you just realize then, the stock trans just doesn't have that same "I'm getting every ounce of power this thing has to the ground" type feeling. I know a lot of builders using LML clutches for say an LBZ build like mine. I'm just as curious as you my friend, only time will tell what kind of power lurks inside these L5Ps....I'll go out on a limb and say they make 550/1150 to the wheels with factory lift pump, turbo, and fueling.
