2017 Mazda 3 AC/Heater Fan Replacement

From what I was told, older models had the fan behind the dash (behind radio/climate controls) which would require a complete disassembly and also removal of the gas pedal just to get to the unit (all YT videos show this on older Mazda 3's..not sure when its location was changed). Dealerships would charge about $1k for labor and a $50 part. One funny note my local dealer wanted to replace my fan for the same price(stealerships) even though it is a way easier procedure for this model year.

Thanks so much for this. Started hearing a whirring and clicking sound coming from the passenger vents on my 2016 Mazda3. Turned out there were dried leaves inside the motor area. Replaced it and it’s been fine since.

I am so happy I found this. I have been experiencing the off again, on again issues with my blower motor. My hack has been to open the vent and and get up to speed to force the air to turn the blade cage. Sometime my wife would get it back on again by slamming the door closed. I was dreading the work to dig it out and replace it, based on other videos. But last week I had to dig around to reattach the heater door actuator cable assembly (another problem) and saw how accessable to cabin filter was. Today found your video to clarify the process. Very simple, just patience with the clips. Awesome!

Hi Jason. I was in the same boat. Previous videos of slightly older Mazda 3s had people digging out the blower motor behind the center console. That is something I definitely did not want to do especially if you have to remove a foot/gas pedal to get access. I just took a quick look under the passenger side dash and said ...hey isn't that the blower motor??? LOL. That is going to be easy:). Glad this video helped you....

@@cobramanphil ultimately the replacement took about 5 minutes. This including having to clean some excess plastic on the new part's wiring connector, to be sure I heard a satisfying click when attaching the wiring harness.

My blower motor on my 2005 was replaced under the factory warranty. The bill would have been about $3,000. They had the car for two weeks. Core memory unlocked.

I had to clean out the blower motor in a 2010 Mazda 3...what an absolute nightmare!!! It was tucked way up inside the dash behind the center console. This looks like a much easier job in my 2017 Mazda 3 for sure!!!! Not sue if it's a Mazda thing but mice seem to really enjoy living in Mazda's. My family has 3 Mazda vehicles and SUV's and I've had mice in all 3.

@@MikeDonaldson-eh2ru I've found mice in my air filter on top of the filter and mice making nests in my blower motor. I also have a 2017 Mazda 3 and I have found a mouse nest in my blower more located under the glove compartment. We must have a lot of mice where I live.
