I'm and Electrical Engineer, and think this is an extremely well thought-out and accurate tutorial that should apply generally for any car blower motor system. Well done!
My Blower motor works just fine , speeds and control all works 110% but the second I start my engine it turns off completely and it stops working. Why would that be, he doenst talk about it in video so thought id try you since your some engineer bloke?
I LOVE how the mechanics and electrical systems are explained here. Super helpful. Thank you!! A little scared to tackle fixing this myself but willing to try it out.
This is brilliant. I did this and found my motor was the problem. I hit it on the metal spline in the middle and lots of carbon dust came out. Did this 10 times, shook it, spun it and it now works goodvas new!
I had to leave a comment. this Guy should be called a Master Mechanic. The way he explains things makes complete 100% sense. Thank you for your detailed explanations.
My grandma once told me that if something doesn't work, give it a good swift kick. Her advice never got anything not working to work, but it gave me joy to reminisce about my dear sweet grandma, running around town while kicking the shit out of everything she thought might not be working. I love you, Grandma! May you be resting in peace in the warm, loving embrace of Nature. See you soon.
Hey man, my a/c wasn't blowing this morning. So, I decided to kick the bottom of my passenger side. And it actually kicked back on. Thanks, I appreciate this
I had problems 1 & 2. Didn't know how to explain it to the mechanic & got charged almost $100 just for him to look. I found this video today. You did such a thorough job of explaining everything step by step & using drawings. Now I can go back & tell him what I think is going on and I wont have to keep using the term "thingy" to describe the problem. You'll definitely be getting 5 stars from this grateful mom!
Great video. With my blower motor only on occasion it doesn't run whether heating or cooling. Then all of a sudden it starts working. I've changed resistor and blower motor. I suspect a loose connection but I don't think so. After your video I'm thinking a relay.
I have a 2015 Mustang whose blower works but the heat randomly blows cold, hot, nothing. At first, I thought it could be one of the actuators under the dash controlled by the temperature knob or a fuse, etc. Turned out to be a small leak in a radiator hose. This caused the overflow reservoir to empty. The low coolant sensor that monitors the overflow reservoir then caused my heater to quit working properly. Never thought it would be anything like this. Temp fix is to fill up reservoir. Long term, replace leaky hose.
Guys just a dumb luck thing that happened to me, my AC didn't work one hot day (yesterday), checked compressor and it was running, gas still had pressure... long story short just HIT the place where the blower motor is with a couple hard slaps and it worked again.
My blower motor stays on only on high even after I turn the car off. On top of that I can’t change the vent location; it just stays in the main position. Not really sure what’s going on.
Hello thank you for this great video. My problem is still not solved. When connecting power on my car the blower goes for 10 seconds than stops. Doesn t mather number 1 .2.6.or 7. It stops after 10 seconds. After a little time is goed om 10 sec. I used a new motor a other Heather control panel and a new blow motor resister that on the blow motor connected for caching the speed. What can i do now. Hands in my heart. Johan peppl off holland
I have 2006 Grand Prix replaced blower and resistor and at first didn’t work, I tried a few more times and it worked. Worked rest of the day then stopped working again.
On my Chrysler 300c the ac/hc worked perfectly until we replaced a ripped coolant hose, after we replaced the hose it doesn’t blow any air. The fans turns on and it turns on every speed level but no air blown out, what can it be ? Please reply!
Before you do all that nonsense, which isn't nonsense if hitting the blower motor doesn't bring it back to life. But that's how I got my blower motor back working...I hit it several times without removing anything. On a 2004 Focus, it's right there under the glove box and easy to smack with the heel of your hand.
Yeah, I took a small sledge and hit my blower motor a few good times and all I got was a bunch of plastic cluttering up my floorboard. I guess it works for some and not for others. ha! j/k
hi can you help me i have a problem cabin fan it stops working after 2 or 3 minutes it starts working again. I have replaced the fan and resistor. Do you know where the fault lies, I will change the climacontrol panel
I’ve already made a booking with the “aircon specialist” tomorrow but now having seen this video, I’m not waisting my money for something I can do myself. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with the 🌎.🙌🏽
@@abriellemaria6069 I just think it's age. I actually smacked under the dash were the motor is located and it started working again. I haven't had to do it since this original posting.
This is THE BEST instructional video I've even seen! Fantastic job explaining and physically showing what to look for. Thank you. I'm now a subscriber.
got everything back together and all was working well...., first time I hit a bump it went back out. speeds 1-2 are not working, 3 is good and 4 bypasses the resistor so its good...gotta think there's a loose wire somewhere...any ideas ??
You're Awesome You definitely explain it where a layman can understand , plus your voice is clear. One of the best videos I have ever watched on reparing a car issue. . Thank you
I’m not getting power to my air controls checked everything… update i I’m getting 11 volts on other fuses but .29 on the 10 amp fuse next to the blower motor relay
I checked the fuses and relays, they're fine, but I checked the connector voltage and there's 0 on every blower setting. Anyone know what the problem could be?
What happens if you dont have power at the blower motor either? I checked the relay and fuses. Could there be an opem ground or something? Im aboit at a loss. The resistor didnt have voltage either.
Mode door not working properly. Probably just a bad actuator, this video talks about air distribution system (check time stamps) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-te6njeydYC0.html
In my 03 ram the fan stopped blowing and I stopped and banged on the bottom of the dash and it came back on again. This has worked with several vehicles I have had. It is temporary but it is a way to have air until you can fix it.
thanks for the great tips, my question is how do we look for the ground as mentioned at 9:20 or around that point? my case (sienna 08) is that there is no power at the control key and no power at the resistor, the fan is running good when connected directly to the battery terminals. this point is very important and left unexplained.
To look for ground you set your multimeter to DC voltage and connect one lead to battery positive terminal and use the other lead to touch a potential ground. If your multimeter shows voltage - you found your ground. But I would think it should be a power control switch. Therefore I would look why there's no power coming to the switch first, maybe it's just a blown fuse.
Thank you for the video, very informative! My 2015 Subaru Crosstrek blows at all speeds but does not blow when changing it to the “feet/lower” setting. Does that also have a resistor or what could it be?
My resistor isn't giving the proper signal, i read that it could be wiring, a relay, or the switch itself. The smaller connector from the resistor to the blower motor first test shows no power or ground for me, then the voltage readings at the resistor itself are inconsistent. At first on the low setting they read 3.9v and at high they read 4.5v. Then they went respectively to 0.8 then 0.9. I couldn't find a relay for the blower motor circuit on any online forums, and i dont know the steps to test the switch(whatever it is) or the wiring. Somebody please help 😢
I have a 2011 Kia Sorento EX V6, and my blower motor doesn't come on intermittently, even after the designated built in delay, I checked fuse okay, changed Relay, Resister and blower motor all with the control unit in the dash, after replacing the control unit last, it seemed to work for a couple weeks, but started not working again, car starts and mid range blower is indicated on the control unit, when it doesn't work I adjust to high setting and it starts working. I am thoroughly stumped on this one.
Ok my mom's 2000 nissan maxima ac went out which we thought it was just the freon. Then the switch wouldn't turn off then it did, then no air at all comes out. So I checked fuses & put in new ones jic, also went to check her cabin air filter which was non existent so put in a new one, then I also changed the blower motor too. Just in case but still nothing. My next step seems to either be the resistor, connector, or the temperature control center piece. Not sure which to do first and the temp control lights up showing power but not blowing air....so frustrating
I have a 2023 4runner TRD Off road premium and it has the same issues. The A/C blower will sometimes delay for 5-30 seconds after I first start the vehicle. If I adjust the fan knob up/down, it will immediately come on. Is this normal?
Hi, my heater blower don't work at all I have replaced the resistor and the blower motor for new ones checked all fuses apparently my car don't have a heater blower motor relay but my blower motor still don't work at all 🤷♂️ I have a Ford S Max 2007
for a 2021 Kia K5 LXS, It was working on a Sunday night, I go in for graveyard shift, get out Monday morning and all of a sudden there is no Air coming out at all. turns out its the 1st problem
I have a 2013 Honda CRV and when the car is warmed up with the engine running, the air flow drops to low speed even though the speed control is set to high. When the car is cooled with the ignition only on, the blower voltage is 12.5 on low speed and drops to 11.67 on high speed. The blower runs as it should when the car has cooled. Could the fan speed switch be bad? Update: I was traveling at the time that this incident occurred. The car is ten years old and I concluded that both the fan and the resistor should be replaced. Unfortunately, Honda no longer carries these parts and I planned to replace both fan and the resistor when I returned home which I did correcting the issue and hopefully buying another ten years. But while I was away and still having to cope with summer weather, I decided to make sure that all of the fuses and relays were firmly installed. I checked inside the car and at the fuse box beside the battery and a few unidentified relays in the fuse box were loose and the result was that the fan and speed control were working normally.
I have 2007 Scion tC with this problem. It's has digital buttons for air and to turn AC on/off. All other buttons on control panel work fine and light up (like, mode selection, air flow from outside, alarm, defroster front and rear etc.) except Air and AC on/off functions. AC button doesn't light up either and no fan. So far i have tested the HTR relay (it doesn't have separate one for blower motor ) and AC fuse under the dashboard. I haven't tested the resistor thinking it should run the fan at full speed even if it is bad? Blower motor works fine when connected to 12V power. Can it be control button panel (temperature control unit) is bad though all other buttons light up and function correctly? AC system does have Freon as slight tap on L port sprays out gas. Thanks for any guidance here.
So I have a 2005 Toyota 4Runner and the A/c was not working when I bought it 6 months ago. However after about 3 days of having it it started to work for seemingly no reason. a few days ago the fan was working but when I turned the a/c on it the fan stopped and I could hear a gurgling noise. Now the fan does not work at all with or with out the A/c on. Its late now but I am going to check the fuses and relays and see if that is the issue however I am worried that its something different.
I have a different scenario my car, the relay works i can hear it click there is power to blower as i checked the with multi meter and blower works I checked that separately by pulling it out and put it on 12V, yet I turn fan speed to setting 1.2.3 nothing happens, could it be the resistor but then i should have fan speed on setting 3 right? Can you tell what i have missed it is a Toyota Hilux 2018. BTW this video is very good 👍👍 and easy to under stand hence i am stuck now TY.
Hello nice Video! I have a 2010 chevy express 1500, I have replaced the resistor addy and the blower motor. The system works on low, 2nd low, but not the 3rd then works on max after replacement. It also will cut off and then come back on. What would could that indicate failure of? This is all occurring during use of the AC. Thanks for any replies.
I have a Chrysler Town & Country that upon start the front blower does not work at any speed. Within 2 min of driving the blower kicks on and works normal. Any thoughts?
My car a/c blower just stopped working. The car technician gave the motor a moderate bump and the blower started working. Technician said the motor is weak and needs replacement.
So currently we are experiencing no blowing out of any vent in my 2018 Hyundai accent but yesterday it was working inconsistently. What's really strange is we just had a computer software upgrade that was mandatory and now all of a sudden things aren't working correctly. Could there be a connection? No pun intended.
Any idea what the issue could be if I have voltage at the blower and the blower motor still doesn’t start even with a new one? I thought I had a bad blower motor since I was getting voltage but no blower action so I bought a new one and still the same issue. The weird thing is that I get less voltage at the pins when I turn the fan setting to high and then when I turn it back to low, I get 12V. Could it be the transistor that was mentioned at the very end of the video?
Mine blows but only from the very front (windshield side) sometimes from the front, and it doesn't warm up at all. It's cold. Only the fan works properly, the temp and direction don't.
OK. What he doesn't tell you is that there is a red clip on the back of the resister housing that needs to be slid toward the driver's side to release the wiring hookup.
Hello sir I have a question. I watched your video about the AC blower module. My 2018 kw blower stays on as soon as key is on. Either on or acc. Does this module cause that issue also?
These fans are made to run at full speed they are 12volt fans so running them at full speed will not harm them. So if your resistor is bad just run the fan at it’s full speed lots of airflow is nice especially in the summer you need that ac lol
I put coolant in my car after work drove home woke up the next day my ac or heat isn’t working I live in Alberta took the bus to work and died I’m going to fix this watching your video again what happen one day I have heat the next day ifs so cold nothing works lol
Good morning my friend! Im trying to apply this diagnostic test (Check for continuity between each of the blower motor switch input terminals of the blower motor resistor and the resistor output terminal) to my vehicle (2003 DODGE CARAVAN SE). Are you able to please show me how to do this on a video? I dont understand how to do it mentally and physically. I will greatly appreciate your help.
My blower motor is in the middle and only accessible by removing the pedal assembly. Nissan versa note 2014. Do you have a video explaining how to remove that and reinstall it to avoid safety issues?
i changed a resistor on a 2015 trax and all speeds was working. i didn't have time to mount it back under dash so it was hanging down on the floor. after about 10 minutes speeds 1-3 went out and only 4 is working. i have a spare resistor so I put it in and all 4 speeds are working. I'm thinking that I made big mistake running the air with the resistor hanging down and not being cooled by being mounted back where it belongs.. does anyone know if I'm right ? i am not going to run the A/C until I remount the new one..
i have a 2003 cheverlote trailblazer ls that i just changed the resistor out in and my blower still isn;t working so i bypast it to get cool air what could be the issue
I have climate control. I hear the motor blowing but don't feel any air coming out or very low that I can't feel anything. It that transistor module or something else?
I’m a 65 yr old Grandma who looks everything up on YT and I just want to thank the person who said smack the motor. You are the bomb!! After checking fuses, and relays and Freon, I found this comment and went downstairs and gave it a whack and boom it worked. I’m so happy😂😂😂😂
Any suggestions would be helpful I got a 2006 Civic new blower motor but not blowing very hard and fan speed changes goes all the way up and all the way down and gets loud but low air flow
my blower doesn't work at any speed 70% of the time. the other thirty it works as it should. I pulled the blower out and tested it works. what could this problem be?
