Awesome! I just picked up a 2017 BRZ myself and am looking at adding forced induction (albeit well down the road). Any issues so far with the kit?
@mejiwolf5187
@mejiwolf5187 7 лет назад
The only issue so far is the fuel strategies/maps aren't full cracked yet so my tune is still a sensible safe one, I'm not pushing anything big as of yet (170rwkw at 7psi).

Congrats on ur turbo man looks and sounds great. Just wondering how audible is he induction noise you know like the turbo spooling up sound in the car? Cant hear it too well in the video perhaps its louder in person
@mejiwolf5187
@mejiwolf5187 6 лет назад
The turbo spool is quite audible, it's a little hard to record it over the exhaust and tire noise though but it's very much present.

did you upgrade the internals of engine? i heard people are saying there boosted engine blows up because those engine cant handle boost. enjoying the exhaust and turbo whistling!
@mejiwolf5187
@mejiwolf5187 6 лет назад
Basically still stock internals. Still running completely fine. I know a few people who have run high boost (14~) on stock internals and track their car on a more regular basis aren't really having much problems either. Just a few supporting mods like an oil cooler for example will help maintain the car. I'm probably going to look into building the engine once I start chasing power figures of 300rwkw onwards. The kit I bought ideally is a basic bolt on for the FA20 with a 7PSI spring rate, I'm currently running 10.5PSI all day everyday and it hasn't had problems.

People run into problems when they change the boost setting 7 will be be fine on stock. I don’t remember at which amount of boost fa20 begin to bend rods but that’s the main reason for failure is bc people put to much boost in it
@HatchetHatter
@HatchetHatter 6 лет назад
I hear that point is around 400 whp, not sure about psi. But if you upgrade the rods and pistons, the FA-20 handles boost really well.
@mejiwolf5187
@mejiwolf5187 6 лет назад
I'm having a retune to up the boost a bit to about 12-14 but I wouldn't go higher than that. I've seen some go 16PSI but I don't want to start running into problems. Mine's pretty safe tune due to the fact it was a brand new motor and I didn't want to risk much. At the time (January 2017) there wasn't much available (maps etc) due to the revised motor so mine was trial and error, in the end the shop did an amazing job with the tune.

Nice Setup, I recently purchased a 2017 Subaru with performance package and I love this car. I was thinking about getting this greddy V2 or V3 exhaust. My only concern is did you do any modification to fit this exhaust? Or was it a straight bolt on for the 2017 models?
@mejiwolf5187
@mejiwolf5187 6 лет назад
The exhaust was directly bolted on as the turbo manifold that came with the kit just replaced the stock ones directly, so no problems at all :)
@dannyn6171

Thanks for replying back. How is the tone of this exhaust? Raspy? Deep tone?
@jaysanyeep

so pretty much any overpipe, front pipe and catback would work with the greddy turbo kit:?

iiStb most definitely. Check out ft86club.org and search there, plenty of turbo BRZ that are auto. Mrrockoffjohnson on RU-vid runs an automatic and is turbo.

How much did this cost if you don't mind? Any issues so far? Still around 10psi?
@mejiwolf5187
@mejiwolf5187 6 лет назад
Still running at 10psi on a daily making about 190rwkw. All up the kit (including boost controller and full exhaust) + installation + engineered was $9700AU.

Know anything about the t620z turbo kit and how much it can make and if stock internals can handle the kit?
@mejiwolf5187
@mejiwolf5187 7 лет назад
I've got a few friends who have gone the same T518Z themselves but I've only heard in conversation from those who have seen the T620Z used says its a bit laggier but not so much more power without more engine work. The workshop that did my car for me is an authorised GReddy dealer too and have built plenty of these kits. I've seen a few of the dyno sheets pulling 230-240rwkw on the T518Z on E85 which is when we start to approach it's capacity. I'm going to have a guess and say since the T620Z turbo is rated 100 more HP it would probably be nearing 330rwkw/450rwhp. Sorry I couldn't give you a definite answer.
@benblid9976
@benblid9976 7 лет назад
so could the t620z kit run low boost and make around 350hp and not touch the internals of the engine?
@mejiwolf5187
@mejiwolf5187 7 лет назад
You could but boost will kick in later compared to the T518Z and you're not using much of the turbo's capacity. You're better off with the smaller one and have a more response. You can also hit almost 350hp on the smaller one with not much more effort. However if you were building the motor and doing it all in one go then go with the T620Z.
@benblid9976
@benblid9976 7 лет назад
how much would could you max out the t518z kit with e85? or plain?
@mejiwolf5187
@mejiwolf5187 7 лет назад
Could probably achieve 240-250rwkw with T518Z kit on E85 pushing 12-14PSI. You start maxing out the turbo by then.

Hey mate, how much did it cost to get engineered?
@mejiwolf5187
@mejiwolf5187 5 лет назад
All up I got the kit for $4400 + delivery and taxes. Installed, tuned and engineered was $2800 (Install $1500, tune $1100, and mod plate was $200).

Awesome, are you located in NSW? I don't know what the requirements are for Vic but I thought it'd be thousands for an Engineering Cert as I though you have to conduct an emissions test @@mejiwolf5187
