For 2017 Subaru has added even more fun to the BRZ with the introduction of the Performance Pack. This brings upgraded suspension, brakes and other valuable bits to the popular sport coupe. To find out how it all comes together, Ryan flew out to Circuito Guadix in Granada, Spain, for some laps around the track.

I think at this point Subaru has nailed it with the performance package. Weight penalty aside the BRZ is a much better buy than the new MX-5. Throw a header and tune on to fix the torque dip and you are set.

The Miata isn't really a competitor to the BRZ. The Miata is for girls and hairdressers who want something small, inexpensive and fun to drive. The BRZ is for driving enthusiasts who want to learn to drive properly at the next level.

@lapamful How is the Miata not a competitor? They both perform the same lap times, rwd, lightweight, and same damn price. One just has a fixed roof. You clearly have never been to a track day -- which are filled with Miatas -- or even driven one. 2/3 of Miatas are bought by men -- look it up! Get over the false stereotype and get the facts straight, armature.

Since they have added the performance package and all revisions i have strongly re guided my interest in buying a new vehicle back to this car and i think this spring may be the time. Awesome review 👏

I love to hear they brought a performance pack to the market and some small but significant improvements. :) It's getting even more attractive now!! :) (we test drove the GT-86 in Japan - video is on the channel!)

older age on the miata = lower insurance rates :) and the young whipper snappers buying the 86/BRZ sometimes have issues keeping it btwn the solid lines. The BRZ premium is at the top of my purchase window. Track life is very different from daily life; can the BRZ be that daily driver w/o too much fuss or compromise. I tested and '18 limited and was entertained. Definitely a driver-focused car and potentially my next car, but I'm gonna have to think long and hard as I''m not that 34 yo and I may have to transport the kiddo here and there.

They really need to do something about the price here in the EU. Over €30K for the base model is just too much, especially considering the premium price of the lighter MX 5 is around €28K. Sure it lacks in the HP department, but it is easily 200KG lighter. Depending where you live, the BRZ might not be the right choice any more.....

That will likely be added when they do the next chassis revision -- like the Impreza received for 2017. This was more of a refresh (although, a very nice one.)
