Great video man. I got my 2019 lifted a couple months ago. I found out the hub side boot tore on my driver side cv axle like yours. I replaced the axle, the seal inside the diff, and while I was at it I installed the ecgs bushing. But now for some reason the axle keeps getting pulled out of the diff and leaking diff fluid. And yes, the c clip was on the axle. I honestly have no clue what the issue could be. Any ideas?

@@66Duffman Appreciate it! I've been doing little mods here and there and out of all the cars I've worked on, it seems like the Toyota engineers got this one right. Even all of the interior trim pieces come off super easily! Are there any other things to look out for as far as repairs caused by going off-road?

The bumper clips break super easily...other then axles the most common thing to break is tie rods...and my alignment is almost always bad

Thanks for your video. I just changed my CV axle in my 2018 Tacoma and this video was very helpful. I got my kit from Napa and it has a lifetime warranty and comes with new nut, cotter pin, & blue ring.

@@leiwouldknow just fine with no problems. Napa had different ones for it but this was the best of the ones they sell & does have a lifetime warranty.

Mostly fine…I took it off about a year later and now it’s my permanent spare that I use occasionally for breaks

Dirtnation Offroad you get what you pay for on the cv’s. If you ever want to do a Total Chaos long travel in the future you will have to use the stock unit. Good thing is you have the stock one as a spare.

New axle came with a castle nut which the cotter pin slips through to stop any spinning

I didn’t too it off after this repair but I did when I changed it...there’s 2 bolts on the driver side of the diff top one is the fill

I took it off for sometime when I had the stock axles rebuilt...did just fine but I could tell it’s worn out...it’s my backup now

Are the CV the same part number for both Driver and Passenger side?

For the Tacoma I believe they are the same axle

That replacement axle hasn’t been broke but I did snap a stock one since...took that aftermarket one off about 6 months ago and it’s my spare now

question! how high is you lift. and did you have any angling problems with your axle prior to you going to azusa? Ive just been daily driving my 2018 with a 3 inch lift, and the axel is curving downward, causing a leak in my boot. I took it to the dealership, theyre gonna try to fix it. how much was the part itself? Thank you! any input would help!

Not really...I’ll say tho make sure to keep your stock one and get it repaired as a spare...worth it

Does anyone know if 2021 CV axles are the same as the ones in 2020? My shop doesn't have 2021 in stock, but they have 2020.

I didn’t because the new axle but was bigger and had notches that matched up with the cotter pin

So I'm getting a cracking or a popping sound on my front end whenever I turn sometimes . I think this is what I may have to do. Anyone else experience this?

Any popping sounds coming from your axles is most likely the cv axle breaking....I would change it

It held up decently well…that axle is now used as my spare and I have factory axles on the truck

@@66Duffman I just wanted to let you know that all. I have had my 2019 Toyota trd of rd on ramps last 3 days and now. A nother. Becuse I did the clamshell bushing and axles and lower ball joints and I have to turn. One ball joint a little cuse I couldn't get grease gun on it. So I jacked up passanger side took back apart and as I'm takeing axle out of spindle I noticed that my seal on the spindle is torn. Remind you I just replaced them yesterday only drove 1mile and took apart to see that. Don't know what I did wrong but now I have to get a nother new seal. And I been all around world and back with torque specs and axle supposed to be 173 😆 🤣 😂
