My test car for DoubleClutch.ca this week was the stunning Volvo V90. I LOVED this thing by the end of the week. There are a lot of details that I didn't cover in the video so read my review on DoubleClutch.ca

Nice review! My wife and me test drove a V90 T6 Inscription yesterday and I loved everything about it but the engine. I'm not sure I want to drop this kind of cash for a unrefined 4 cylinder engine, even though the output is 316HP and 295 lbs ft torque. In most driving it was decent but when one needs to put power down for passing or taking gaps in traffic it is so noisy, something not befitting a car of this price or in this luxury category. I am currently driving a 2015.5 XC70 T6 and that turbo 6 cylinder engine is a dream. So smooth and awesome power output. I have also driven the MB E450 wagon and that engine and interior are lovely. However, for a similarly equipped E450 to the V90 Inscription one is looking at an extra $10K. I find that a hard pill to swallow.

Adaptive cruise is, if you're not in a hurry, one of the absolute best features to ever be included on a vehicle. I rank it right up there with HVAC. It removes the sense of urgency and allows you to divorce yourself from the need to manage your speed or constantly fiddle with your cruise control to try, and fail, to match the speed of the car in front of you before you just get annoyed and overtake them. I have it on my 2013 Ford Fusion and I honestly couldn't go back. Lane keeping is also nice, and Volvo has a much better implementation compared to my car. Just generational differences, since my car struggles to find the lanes sometimes and won't actually keep the car centered in the lane, unlike newer premium lane keeping systems. If I had the money, a Volvo V90 from before they dropped the higher trim levels would be my car of choice to upgrade to. The interior is SO NICE and the sound system is legitimately high-end aftermarket levels of nice to the extent that there should never legitimately be a need to think about an upgrade. Given that a considerable amount of my driving is on highways or other long roads, I'd happily trade a bit of steering feel and performance for a ride quality and interior experience like that. Hopefully Volvo will re-invest into their wagon lineup in the future so I can consider a newer model when I'm in a position to replace my car. Maybe drop both current wagon models and make a V80 or V70 that lands somewhere between them? I don't know what Volvo's future plans are, but I do know that I'm a huge fan of what they've already accomplished with this car.

And try to find a v90 or a v60 on roads in the USA. It's a rare thing. Which is a shame as this is an s90 with a wagon's tail end. But we don't see many s90s on the road either in the USA. Sure, the xc90 is nice as is the xc60, but a wagon is longer, sleeker, lower than either and I think this deserves to be seen on the road. And it's actually stunning to look out when you do see one. It looks really wide on the road and sleek.

I want to see this compared to the Mercedes-Benz E400 Wagon. That would be a real competition.
