I bought a pre-owned 2020 RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD with advanced technology and 6208 miles a week ago. It is still practically brand-new, very clean inside and out with almost no visible scratches. I am over the moon! I have been looking for a luxury car that is not pretentious and doesn't scream, "I have money". This RLX definitely is what I have been looking for - understated luxury with powerful engine within it's class and overall excellent performance. I used to own a 2003 3.2CL which I adored until I got married and had children. I traded it in for Odyssey which my wife drives. I love the RLX and too bad they discontinued this model in 2020. I hope to be able to enjoy this car as long as possible.

I didn’t like Acura’s big diamond shaped grill when it first came out but it’s grown on me. It looks good on the RLX. The rims look good too. But yeah, it needs an update.

Great review and car itself, but I’d want MDX TYPE S with the same or improved hybrid system. I would buy it for sure. As it would have so much a better fuel economy and would be even faster I suppose

I'm looking for a 2018+ they're still a bit pricy for having outdated tech.. Really like the driver assist features tho.

Unbias review of this RLX. You are on point with the interior technologies. The TLX you can get Apple car play and wireless charging. Those aren't even an option on the RLX, Which is pretty sad on Acuras part.

Thanks for the comment. I agree that this RLX would get more attention if it updated the infotainment system as it's a fun to drive vehicle otherwise!
@matthewsahr5205
@matthewsahr5205 6 лет назад
I personally dont mind it not having those features but Acura doesn't need to make another rlx in 2019 without putting the new infoitainment system in it. That comes with apple car play anyway. The RLX is barely marketed by acura so you cant sell something people never heard of.
@Legen5d

True I believe you on that. But I would expect more from Acura. Because they claim it's there flag ship model. I'm sure if they do a redesign they should be able to address these problems.

A new infotainment system is a must if they launch a new generation of the RLX.

Wonderful review 👍 The RLX just needs a refreshed infotainment system with all the latest computer modes, add real wood trimming & suede, add massage seats front and back, tv screens for the back seating, and 15hp more 🤗

So in other words, it's close...but not so close. :) Thanks for the comment and the feedback. Both are appreciated!

Eric Novak - Right! For this new model it does. I have a 2016 RLX Tech and I wouldn’t trade it for nothing.

It almost seems that the Honda legend would be better. It has a touch screen in the rear fold down armrest, and more functions for rear passengers. This may also be because in Japan, luxury cars are more for those who wish to be driven around than for those who wish to drive themselves.

a bit of wooden trim would do this car good

this car really picked my interest as a used ride. My concerns however is the 7speed dct in this car that is combined/integrated with electric front motor. This sound like super expensive repair if one of the two fails. Anybody has some experience with that combo?

This car sells very few models in the hybrid configuration, less even than the NSX , so not much data on this. Any of these unique systems going bad out of warranty would break the bank for sure.

The dct used across the board by Acura seems very reliable. No major issues on reliability websites. But it will eventually wear out like a manual tranny clutch, and that's very expensive. The older RL battery packs seem reliable, but If they do go bad, that's also very expensive. You combine that with the skyrocketing residual value drop on this vehicle and you driving down the road in a ticking time bomb it seems! Guess what? I really like it anyway and may pickup a used 3-4yr old either way! Japanese built, so should be very reliable

The 7DCT was used with the 14-20 RLX hybrid and 17-20 MDX hybrid. Probably the least trouble-free and smoothest transmission they built next to the 6MT. Honda/Acura isn't a stranger to 7/8/9 DCT in various cars in Europe, NSX, ILX/TLX, and Acura hybrids. It is just 4 qts of DW-1 every 30,000 miles to keep the 7DCT hybrid running in peak performance for +150,000 miles.

It’s sad what Acura is doing they got such a great product but it they make a few cheap changes that would give them such better business. The layout on their new is pretty ridiculous I wouldn’t pay top dollar but it’s a great used car. For their later cars it’s kind of unacceptable but now we know what’s in store for the new refresh which looks great.

The legend rl and rlx are midsize cars
@joelweekes4267
@joelweekes4267 7 месяцев назад
True and not true,they are considered that but the midsize stops at 196.8 and the RLX is 198 inches so it kinda crossed into the Fullsize

For a car that has such an advanced and great powertrain, what an awful, ancient interior. The new Accord has better tech

Blake Swan yeah, the car was introduced back in 2012 so it's kinda dated inside.
