@@Reoniz Right! These days one cannot take advantage of the depreciation of 2-3 year old BMW., and actually all cars. I seen some 1-2 year old cars priced just as high as new! 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@JairoSZN engines great it’s everything else in the car the engine is connected to which is ehhh. It’s a BMW the maintenance will always be there and will always be high.
You touched on everything I wanted to ask you. Just rolled / totaled my 2011 e92 335i with 30k miles that I picked up last year. Been researching and 340i was the direction I was thinking after watching your other video. Out shopping & freaked by the prices since just last year.. I still have another high mile e92 335i but I drive for work so in a bind. Appreciate all your feedback & opinions on the car & current prices 🤙 I was actually going to reach out to you realizing that your lease was coming up to see if I could buy yours out. But I have to go with the manual. Crazy that you just put out this video that you were turning it in. Well done video - truly
Wow thank you so much, and I'm very sorry to hear about the rolled e92... my own e92 335i lci was probably my favorite car ever, wish I appreciated it more! At least you have another one !!! And ya, things are absolutely crazy, in retrospect I wish I had gone with a 6-speed ZHP... but oh well. And ya, I actually ended up selling it back to a dealer for some positive equity, and according to my Instagram, a kid already bought it! Nonetheless, with f30 prices so high, I'd consider a 16' or 17' M2 manual... it's ultimately gonna cost a bit more, and it has the slightly weaker N55 (that you seem to be very familiar with) but it's also a heck of a lot more car. In many ways, it's a very natural evolution from the e92 335i, just with numb steering 🤧👍
Good video and you mentioned very correctly a used and new car market that is completely unreasonable and may be like this for another possible 2 years. But it appears you are selling this car and you’re about to enter this horrible market as you buy another car?! Idk man I think you should keep this for another 2 years....because to be honest even though it’s a zhp you’re unlikely to get the money you want. Most people have paused buying new and used and sticking with what they got for now. Unless you run into some kid that lives with his rich parents and has nothing better to do but overpay 8k for a used car then you’re gonna keep getting lo balled.....keep that car man and wait it out! You’re gonna get ripped either way. And remember the less that people buy the quicker the market goes back down. And in N.J. that IS happening....status craved people who only buy to up status to try and look rich, even they are pausing on buys! It’s hilarious.....and you can laugh in the face of any used car salesman that gives you the pitch....
No you're absolutely right!! I actually leased this car though, so my choices were to return it and pay disposition, buy it out (at what was too high of a residual IMO), or to sell it to a willing dealer for some positive equity... I chose that last option because it made the most sense to me AND I found what I thought was a justifiable new car option. Sometime in December I should have a video out on my new car and in it I'll surely explain why I chose it and why it made the most sense. But essentially yes, everything you said is true, and if I owned my 340i I would've heeded your advice of keeping it. But I did what I had to considering my limited options! Hope that makes sense 😎
Appreciate the new video! Seriously! Thank you! Looking at buying one for 42k w/ 23k miles. 6 speed manual. It looks and sounds great! For some reason there is no spoiler on it but everything else checks out and it is a ZHP
Sounds like a sweet deal provided it truly is a ZHP or at least has all the content of a ZHP (rear diff specifically) By spoiler do you mean the rear carbon fiber lip on the trunk is missing? :/
Yeah yo I remember seeing those cars go for 26k one year ago today, and looking at them now there like 32k+ I really want to buy one soon I just don't know when is good time to buy :(
Probably not rn... my specific car, which was a last MY and supped up ZHP pack went for over $40k in this insane market -- just over a year ago I would've thought the high 30's was too much
Hello buddy. Just purchased M140i but it makes noise when i start the engine. Idk if pervious owner did something 😅. I have heard it does that in cold weather for cold start but i am talking about even during hot weather. How can i make it quiter plz thx ?
My bad..... didn’t realize a lease....of course then, what you’re doing make sure sense. Man I can remember back in 2005 leasing the newly designed 2006 Subaru STI for $550 a month with no money down. It was probably around 38k new back then but it was worth it. I was much younger back then and I can recall all the mods I did to car and eventually traded it in without taking Mods off and selling them..... how stupid was that?! Miss that car so much. But yeah whatever dealer buys your car ( or I guess we can say trade in ) DONT let them say ‘well the market is only up for selling cars not US buying them’ (trade in)...... call bs on that immediately and be prepared to walk out. Don’t let that greed grind you down.
No worries at all!! Firstly, your 06' STI sounds like the stuff of dreams... reminds of my first performance car of which I too spent far too much money on mods and then simply turned her back in to the dealer 🤧 And yes, I spoke to just about every BMW dealer in the area before making my decision to move forward with the dealer that offered me the most... BMW financial strong-armed all current lessees a bit with blocking any 3rd party sales, so my only option was a BMW dealer if I wanted to avoid taxes. They surely have the car listed for quite a bit more than they gave me... but at the end of the day, a ZHP is only "okay" and hard to market, so I'll take my slight profit in equity and lack of a disposition fee. Seriously tune in for my new car video sometime in the next couple months 😎👍
I am between the 340 and m240. If I go with the m240i 100% rwd 6 spped. Though for the 340 i'm torn between auto with x drive and manual rwd. What are your thoughts?
E90 vs f30. Steering feel. Is it a night and day difference? My e60 was amazing but it’s gone now. Now I have a well paying career I’m looking to get another fun car so bmw basically. Does it steer and handle anything like the e90?
No sir... nothing like the E90, if you wanna get a hell of a car and have the income/are willing to deal with the headaches that may come -- E9X M3 (ideally with ZCP and 6spd) Run and don't look back 😅
@@whoisjaray9414 Yeah I ended up passing on the 340. too much money for that car IMO. I found a used X3M for about the same price. Despite still being expensive, it's was a good $24K cheaper than brand new and the car was less than a year old. The depreciation on these cars is crazy for the first year.
all cars are overpriced now, it's the market. This guy apparently has run flats which is not ideal and then is surprised about how fast it goes (after 3 yrs of ownership) hahaha i wouldn't worry about the purchase
@@theserna I had runflats because it was a lease... didn't make financial sense to take them off! I wasn't surprised that they sucked, I've owned performance oriented cars without them, but I can still comment on it as most F30's came with RF's
It is so hard to find a ZHP anywhere! Otherwise known as the M performance edition. I've never known a package to offer as much as the ZHP offers in this. It's a totally different car in every way with the ZHP package in the best possible way. I've got to find one
I own a 2011 BMW 328i convertible and it has hydraulic steering and a fully aspirated straight 6 engine. I will not being letting it go anytime soon, drives smoothly, has navigation and a hard top. The new soft top 3 series convertibles with electronic steering and small 4 cylinder turbos are not for me. Cheapest BMW to maintain for the long term.
That's absolutely true!! The N52 motor you have, while not nearly as zippy as the new turbo 4's... both sounds better and provides far greater if not some of the greasiest reliability from a BMW motor ever! Trust me... I used to have an E92 335i... and I've been missing if for the better part of 7 years since I sold it -- there's no match to hydraulic steering imo
@@Reoniz I feel that lol. My lease is up in 2 months and my dealership put a pause on the employee lease and finance program until 2022. So I’m in a jam on what to do lol
@@Sumaxc ya... it's definitely put a lot of people in a precarious position, but I say maybe buy something used that hasn't been affected quite as much, and then reassess in about year or so
@@Reoniz Yeah. I just started working at BMW a few months ago and was going to lease an m340 or something along those lines because the employee lease program has some pretty nice deals. Just to come to find out they stopped the program for now because of the car shortage. Hardly have any 2022 inventory except for the X3’s and 2 series. I’m hoping they bring it back by the beginning of next year.
I am curious how the vehicle is not worth 36-40k in your eyes. I just recently bought my first 340i and I definitely get a wow factor that tbh I did not get from a 18 M3. I personally think with how equipped mine is it is well worth almost 40k
Before I answer, let me add some context, I sold it to a dealer for $40k who then sold it for the low 40's to someone who after tax spent damn near $50k all in... The reason I don't think these cars are worth quite that much is two fold... 1 is that I could've grabbed a new one in 18' for $50k plus tax (for a ZHP)... I don't think it's justified to spend anything close to that 4 years later with the G20's now being out and the wear and tear on these cars The second part is that at around $40k, and even in these crazy times market wise, I think there are other cars for the money that are either more value or will hold value better... for instance an 'ok' e92 DCT or 996 Carrera Ultimately, the 340i's are sweet, but make more sense to me in the low-ish $30's - just the nature of this insane car market 🤷🏻♂️
@@Reoniz I had a 2014 e92 on my lot for 90 days and nobody bought it. It had 46k miles and it was being sold for 46k+ I believe. Tbh I enjoy the 340i much more as I did a few test drives in the e92. My 340i I just purchased has the track handling package. As well as, driver assistance package, winter package and it has rear sunshades as well as the automatic sunshade on rear windshield. Aside from that it is a 2017 with 29k miles. With all the add ons I would much rather spend 38k on this before buying an outdated e92. Also being able to simply tune the b58 to get similar numbers compared to the e92, in my opinion I think the motor is better in many ways. But I am also new to BMW’s.
@@MattF30 I hear you! The biggest advantage of an F30 over an E92 M3, especially daily driving wise, is the torque!! So you are far from in the wrong for enjoying your awesome vehicle 😎👍
@@itzjustmo2715 I don't wanna make any choices for anybody! Everyone's got their own unique set of circumstances... but at $34k I'd look for a very clean and well priced 340i over an abused and higher mileage E92 M3... 😎👍
Should be the same between all 340i's aside from the Variable Sport Steering option that only some cars have. Basically identical to the 440, but the M240 feels a bit better due to both it's size & weight, as well as it's standard non-runflat tires
@@Reoniz Hi. I too have a leased 340i that’s due for return next week. How did you “sell” this car to a BMW dealer? Don’t they just offer you the residual?
@@jong4419 so I shopped it around at all the local BMW dealers (there's a ton here in SoCal) and just took the highest offer I received... which ended up being a decent amount above the residual and saved me from paying that $350 disposition fee! Just find a dealer that's willing to play ball and hopefully you can collect a lil something now 🙏🏼😎
@@Reoniz mind disclosing which dealership you went with? Most dealerships I went to for my pre-inspection wouldn’t entertain talks of positive equity in my car. They just said they take it back as a lease return.
Ya but you'd usually be underwater on an aggressive lease... where simply turning it in and paying the $350 disposition fee would be your best bet. In this case (due to the insane market) I had the opportunity to collect some $$$. My only other choice was to buy this car at too high of a price imo, so time to switch it up and keep my monthly expenses manageable 👍👍
I do have E90 LCI 318i from 2009 and it has electric steering. So both my car and F30 have electric steering. Is there still a difference between them? Personally, I am perfectly fine with my steering feel, it's good to drive and I like it better compared to my previous E36 which had hydraulic, that was way tougher to operate. I had a test drive in 440i 360 HP version back in 2018, but I was so dazzled by the B58 engine, that I might have omitted what the steering was like :P
@@chriskay4392 Apparently not all of them. Mine has electric. There were 3 versions: hydraulic, hydraulic supported by electric motor, fully electric (my version).
@@chriskay4392 Poland, but my car has been manufactured in Germany and is a LCI version. My buddy has 335i from 2008 and claims he has hydraulic steering.
