You heard that sound? That’s the sound of awesome! In this episode of the Luxury Car Report, we review the Camaro #SS.
We’re not just driving any #Camaro, we’re driving the 2017 Camaro SS, which has a 6.2 liter V8 engine which delivers 455 horsepower, and 455 lb. ft. of toque, which means this: 0-60 in 4 seconds!
Not only the performance is breathtaking, but so is its design! GM gave #Bumblebee... erm, the Camaro new daytime running lights which follow the sharp lines of the body. The sculpted tail lights are fully LED as well and give the back of the Camaro a wide appearance. We love how GM put even more muscle and power into the lines of the Camaro, which looks like it’s going fast even when you manage to control your foot.
A special touch on this Camaro is the celebration of fifty years of Chevy muscle, for which it carries an emblem in the steering wheel.
Let’s look at this gorgeous looking coupe in daylight.
Since there’s no replacement for displacement, the Camaro SS features 6.2 liters of awesomeness under its hood. This brings the muscle car from zero to awesome in just 4 thrilling seconds! The functional hood scoops hint what’s underneath the long stretching hood.
If those vents aren’t enough of a hint that we’re dealing with Chevrolet’s ultimate performance beast here, the Camaro will tell you with the SS emblems on the front and the back of the coupe.
The Camaro SS moves its sporty body on even sportier 20” five spoke alloy rims, which show the Brembo performance disc brakes. #Chevrolet says it should take the Camaro 117 feet to stop from 60 to 0, but we only tested flooring the gas pedal so we couldn’t tell.
Gosh, we love this design so much! Look at those typical #musclecar hips, like a predator ready to sprint to its prey! And Chevrolet made the horizontal front facia even lower and more lurking.
The rocket-like acceleration is highlighted by rocket-style air vents and knobs in the interior. We loved the unconventionally styled big knobs for the A/C which are incorporated in the outer rings of the central air vents. Those A/C controls along with some basic audio controls, are the only physical buttons in the Camaro. You’re able to control all other features via the 8” touch screen, which supports Android Auto and Apple Carplay. The system outputs to six speakers. The most luxurious version of the Camaro is even equipped with a Bose surround system.
The interior looks and feels nice, with sporty aluminum accents and leather surfaces all over the place it feels upscale. The cloth seating has nice dark grey accents. It is a step up from the previous Camaro. Our Camaro also featured the available sunroof. During nighttime, the interior of the Camaro looks even nicer with lighting effects and the shiny satin chrome.
If we were to mention the downsides of this Muscle fest, well, there aren’t really any downsides. Maybe a little compromise. The compromise is not so much in the boot, as we were surprised to find that we could fit a full-size suitcase in the trunk. However...
While the legroom in the front of the Camaro is okay - I can be seated pretty well - the backseat is a whole different story! Look at this... I will move the seat forward as far as it goes, and even then the backseat is barely usable. I can’t even put the seat back. It does have a backseat, but I don’t see a use for it.
But the most important aspect about Bumblebee is how it feels when it drives itself. Megan Fox needs to feel secure when it’s taking some tight corners, after all! The Camaro SS features different driving modes, among which are sports and track modes. The track mode disables ESP and provides configurable ride handling, which we quite liked. Also, there is a g-meter, and it felt like our challenge to get it as far to the edge as possible.
The dashboard cluster is also fully configurable, with different themes and info displays on yet another 8” display. The Camaro SS further comes with modern features like remote start and keyless entry.
In the Camaro SS, Magnetic Ride is standard; Magnetic Ride is GM’s ride system ,which makes the car adapt to the road 1000 times per second. It is no coincidence that the Camaro is built on the platform of the Cadillac ATS and CTS. Rough asphalt roads still felt rough though, even in touring mode. But we can’t deny that after riding on the Camaro’s track-tuned suspension, our pickup felt like a boat sailing on rough seas.
This refined technology paired with an evenly refined interior brings sophistication to the raw power of American muscle. If you don’t need space for your family, or a family at all, and you are willing to trade some comfort for jaw breaking performance, sprint to your Chevy dealer to get this American iron beast!
Look out to our future videos of the 2020 Camaro SS and 2021 Camaro SS!

Really awesome video! I really enjoyed the angry engine revving. Sounds like a beast of a car. I'm gonna have to see one at a dealership.
