The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE is simply the best Camaro yet. We track test it around the high speed turns of Roebling Road Raceway. Find us on your TV @ www.motorweek.o...
@@edpotts9168 My 2017 Camaro SS has great paint and 37,000 miles later, I have no rattles. Not sure where you get that from. My 2015 Mustang GT on the other hand....
Almost 5 years later, the ZL1 1LE is (sadly) still the best Chevrolet Camaro you can get. And with no LT5-powered super ZL1 or LT6-powered Z28 on sight, it looks like the ZL1 1LE will be the best gasoline powered Camaro ever made.
Ford wishes they could make a pony car this fast. And all Europeans are mad that the cars they produce that are anywhere near as fast cost 6 figures or more lol.
Alejandro Delgado Pretty sure they have and do. With that said GM wishes they could build exclusive versions of their cars like Ford does that appreciates and is in high demand. Even when GM squeaks out something a click quicker then Ford has out it doesn't matter since demand for Ford special vehicles still by far outweighs demand for GM special vehicles.
Shelby 350r. It has over 130 less horsepower and matches/beats it at the track. It still sells for 15k over sticker and is still one of the most sought after sportscars in the planet. Camaro? ..not so much. I rented a 17 ss for 4 weeks while my car was getting fixed and couldn’t wait to give the keys back. Talk about poor design. It was like driving in a coffin
BMW M3 fanboy (and owner) here and I think this (and also the GT350) is a great car. I wish U.S auto manufacturers would have built these kinds of cars 30 years ago instead of just recently. Better late than never I guess.
Sergio why are you bringing up 1/4 times when this car clearly wasn't built for that. It's built for the track and embarrassed many cars such as the Porsche Turbo S(190k), GT3RS(250k), new NSX at VIR. It's faster than any McLaren that has been tested at Laguna Seca except the P1 which is a couple million in the used market. It's faster than the Ferrari 458 at the famous Nurburgring.
Charlie M. The aerodynamic additions on the front are not road legal in Europe. It doesn't meet the pedestrian collision standards. They actually just tested this car on Top Gear UK, they had to come to the US just to drive it.
Blake Swan yet we drove them everyday and have zero problems. Because we know how to use our mirrors and be aware of our surroundings. Amazing! 😱 And you’ve clearly never been in any exotic car. You actually think it’s easy to see out of a Lamborghini? That’s hilarious.
Love the channel but hate Rock Auto! They don't even have their parts listed correctly on their site and to return the product? You will have to pay for shipping for their mistake. Terrible customer service.
An American car where old John boy isn't complaining about how much better the Japanese or Europeans versions are so much better. Will wonders never cease?
for 2019 zl1's are keeping the same glorious front end but the rear end is still getting that god awful butt lift. So if you boys like the current camaros as they are u better get em now
I never thought I'd see the day when a automatic would out perform a manual but that 10speed is a beast. The manual is relegated to those who just got to row them gears and feel a little more manly. Times have changed.
Same front aero and rear wing on a fbo h/c 1le ss with lighter wheels, rear seat delete, carbon fiber drive shaft, lowering springs may actually put down better times than the zl1 1le for a lot less money!
How does this video look like it's shot in the 80's pr 90's like every other MotorWeek video?, I gotta say though it's weird, it's a good continuity and I enjoy the old school reviews. Great channel.
For about $20,000 more. It's better to get the 2015 Corvette Z06 or Z07. as a professional race drivers nothing like driving the 2015 Z07 Corvette it will outdo any Camaro!
I don't like that Chevy turned the ZL-1 into a sports can wanna-be----the original ZL-1 was all about muscle in a straight line. It handled very poorly, and neither Chevy nor the buying public cared---it wasn't meant for handling.
MikeEM1 Tradition is very important to musclecar heritage. The Challenger corners like crap, and I LIKE that---it's a musclecar, it's not supposed to do corners well.
Sounds like you want a Challenger, which handles like shit. The ZL1 is not a "wanna-be" anything, the ZL1 1LE is one of the fastest track cars you can buy for any price.
Vernon Price I wouldn't have a problem with it if they didn't use the tag ZL-1....and ANY Camaro (or Corvette for that matter) is only fast on a track in the hands of a race driver---they are oversteering pigs that require a ton of skill to keep them on the track.
It literally just got worse, they copied most of the Bumblebee front end for the mid-cycle redesign. I saw one in person (video in my channel) an it's a bit better than the press release looked, but I'm still not a fan.
I know it's popular to say the Camaro's interior is awful, but it really isn't. Yeah, it's not a Bentley, but it's not awful either. It's actually very good.
Vernon Price comparing to Bentley is kind of unfair. Just compare it to anything at its price point. Domestic cars lack refinement and style and soul. However , what else can you get 650 hp?
+pavloskalos - "Just compare it to anything at its price point." Nothing else at that price point can match the Camaro's performance. Your argument is false equivalency. Not only that, you're missing the point. Once again, the interior is not awful. It's actually pretty nice. It's nicer than other cars in its class (Mustang, for example) and it's nicer than 3/4 series BMWs, which are roughly in the same category but are much more expensive while having much less performance. "Domestic cars lack refinement and style and soul. " That's just straight up complete bullshit. And now you're showing your bias. So why don't you stop trying to convince us you're not biased when you very clearly are, and just say you don't like Camaros? Because you would still be wrong, but at least you would be saying something honest.
Vernon Price much of what you say is true . Still doesn’t change my opinion the interior is ugly. You agree it is, but want to tell me how much better it is than other ugly interiors. Everyone has a bias, and that’s ok.
gorrilaunit99 Then you better be willing to spend 400k on a 720s becauae your not getting anything lighter with power unless you spend a million bucks.
Light weight sport cars in US have already been built back in early 2000's. There are plenty used C5 and C6 Corvette Zo6's for sale on various sites. If you can fit in something like a Miata, GM built the Solstice and Sky. An LS swap can be done to get some real power in either model.
That's why I don't why you would have a manuel, in a car this dangerous to drive with one hand. You really gotta know what you're doing, while driving in this beast. But, it's also very possible to convert a ZL1, into a bigger monster, than the ZL1-1LE.
I'm not sure you understand what the word "slow" means. It does an easy 11.7 @ 123 mph, and that's with a manual transmission and an insane amount of downforce which is slowing the car down in a straight line, because obviously this car was made to go around corners. Calling that "slow" automatically means you're an idiot. It set the 14th fastest lap time ever recorded on the nurburgring for ANY production car. Is that "slow" too?
+akachuy - How could I possibly misunderstand your comment? You said it was "so slow they didn't even give the 0-60 time ouch." And then I proceeded to show you how fast it actually is. So what's the problem? Do you still not understand that it's not slow? Do I need to provide more examples for you? Or are you just a moron? You tell me.
those are the dive planes, the little wings that are part of the front splitter. the 2 ''winglets'' per side one above the other are called canards as others said
