I just bought this exact car, the one that was used in this video. The original owner won it in the giveaway. Part of my motivation for buying it was watching this video. I didn't realize it was this exact car until I went through the paperwork and saw the history of the giveaway.
'It appeals to everyone, so it appeals to no one' - Some music reviewer, maybe someone called Todd. What this means in this situation is that, while yes, he doesn't have many subscribers, but the people who subscribed always come back as the content is good and matches their taste perfectly.
This is my ''new'' favorite car channel. No ''poser'' crap, just straight no B.S. reviews from real car guys that had shitty jobs in order to buy cars and motorcycles. Love the warped sense of humor.
@@timurg3377 I'm doing these in 1.25x-1.5x and realtime for the driving segments. That I'm not going 1.75x is a compliment to the richness of his presentation. I actually need the time to take it all in. Especially the shoppe segment.
Just finished the video; excellent! Your reviews don't fuck around man. No one is on your level. My favorite part of your videos are underneath the car. No one else does this and to the detail that you do. I don't know what else to say except that your coverage of this car is perfect and thank you! Job well done!
Love u SG, This video is how i discovered your channel last year. 2 week later I placed my order and painstakingly waited constantly coming back to this video. Took delivery last month & I'm so in love with every aspect of the car. I owned a Hellcat Widebody before and this ZLE & is just far superior mechanically the speeds you can take corners on is down right mind blowing. Thanks for making amazing content i watch every new release you all do.
I caught that! What fu**ing stud lol all power to ‘em. “Not manly?” Yeah share your car takes and try to make any sense compared to this master. Down with the gender stigmas.
I remember the moment when I subscribed to this channel. It was when I saw his review of the V90 and he talked about how there was powdercoating on every. single. part. of the undercarriage to prevent rust in the winter months on long road trips - and how that alone justified an increased price over other models. Living in Michigan, rust prevention and protection is crucial. Nobody - NOBODY - I had ever seen review a car had ever talked about OEM techniques for weatherproofing the underbody on a car ostensibly meant to be driven a lot in the winter. Glad to see his attention to detail has gotten even better since.
To be fair, that's all information that's in the owner's manual and press releases. To >99% of viewers, that's just a bunch of boring information that they don't care about. Technical car guys will enjoy this (I watched the whole thing), but MOST car people are just going to skip to the driving part. Other reviewers simply tailor their videos to a larger audience. It's not necessarily that they don't know or aren't privy to the same detailed tech info. I do love that savagegeese shows the weight distribution, though. That's probably my favorite part of his videos.
I have to agree with you on that one, however, there are few "car reviewers" that I simply cannot stand. There are people who do simple, easy-to-understand reviews and there are people who make complete crap.
Best ZL1 video on RU-vid, good work, nice and Savage as usual! Love the honesty, it's what car reviews are all about. 43 minutes may be long for some, but this is cinematic quality here.
FlyinGato You said exactly what I intended to. On most channels they spend 5 minutes promoting themselves and 10 minutes on the product. Us gear heads want and appreciate the little details anyone can give the horsepower ratio.
This video is 5 years old, but I love it for the same reason I love almost all of their videos. They slowly found their niche and then leaned into it heavily. They're not just vague reviews of looking at the car, hearing the dealership spec sheet, and then driving it. We get to hear about the mechanics of the vehicle, the thought process that went into it, and even discussion with the manufacturer about how it came to be.
i'm just going to flat out say it. You are the best CAR REVIEWER on any platform! Matt Farah does great one takes, Chris Harris is an excellent entertainer and driver, but you are the best at extensive reviews. You should be very proud of the work you have put in, your videos are excellent and never feel as long as they actually are
*"I for one like the wing painted, just like I like my toe nails painted, or else I feel nude"* I died, his dry, sudden, and self roasting humour gets me every time
Isn't "The Slow Lane" those two douchebags who every single car they test gets a 0-60 score seconds slower than the rest of america, and they blame it on altitude, no matter what kind of car it is.
You lose about .8% of the oxygen in the air, every 1000' of elevation you gain. Sorry, but it's science. Effectively, a N/A engine will lose roughly 3% of its effective crank HP, per 1000'. A N/A car in Denver is down 15% in HP. This becomes very evident in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. 42% power loss at the peak. That's why any team that takes hill climbing seriously chooses forced induction, to minimize the power loss.
For the first time in a long time a car scared me. When I drove one of these and romped on it, I was actually scared by the power it has. I have driven Tesla performance models but there's still nothing like a high horsepower engine. Especially when the engine sounds as good as the ZL1's Supercharged V8. Yes, I would buy this car and be scared. (:
Got my ZL1 1LE this past weekend and already have almost 400 miles on the odometer. The car is literally perfect in every way. He's right, it is overkill for a street car -- but who doesn't like overkill?
@@Sloimer haha...I ordered one too just the other day...or should I say I put an order into a few different dealerships in hopes of getting an allocation? Not sure of I will because of supply chain issues etc etc....just have to wait and see
@@coreypatterson1386 Nice man - well I wish you the best of luck! I haven’t moved from 1100 status yet, but the ZLE is still highly constrained so I’m still expecting a bit of a wait. If we are lucky our orders will be picked up by year’s end. Kind of surprising because I don’t think the ZLE is a very high demand vehicle. Fingers crossed.
@@Sloimer absolutely fingers 🤞....wait and see....hope you get yours soon...I'm going for the riverside blue exterior...will probably go with aftermarket headers and corsa or borla exhaust
Most people are just herd followers and the majority of viewers are young, they are not able to discern high quality from mediocre stuff. Those people that watch the bs channels you named want flashy idiot-entertainment, not hyper quality, critical car-journalism.
But Porker might be getting rid of his lambo and I have to find out what he is going to replace it with. Plus I like the butt candy when Porkers girlfriend makes an appearance.
You KNOW the videos are good when you watch an entire 40 minute review of a car you'll never buy for entertainment. I can't believe he has less than 100k subscribers.
Alex Kaseta definitely, corvettes have a much better weight distribution, suspension, and are lower to the ground. Corvettes have been designed for the race track since day one.
@@weilandcock Yes, Corvettes have been race oriented since their origins (or at least when Zora Duntov took over shortly after). The modern Camaro has sort of been mutated into a track car, which makes it have all these compromises. The interior has iffy visibility, not that much room, and hardly any cargo space. The Corvette was designed for it's role since day one
If they do a review on the Aztek I'll turn the video off and listen to the review, afraid I will get a headache watching that car for more than 3 minutes! :)
Never thought I'd say this for almost 3 decades, but: Ford and GM FINALLY elevated their pony cars into proper world-class 2+2 GT standouts. This includes the SS 1LE, also brilliant. Boss 302, CobraR and Z28 were almost there, but now the current top models are also decently-sorted; interior and chassis-wise, like never before. Here's to hoping that they made them relatively future-proof vs. most new cars reliance on 'computerized everything'.
Nah, not with that styling. The interiors, the cheapness in design and engineering. And they're not even that affordable anymore. They improved the performance to Japanese and European levels but thats about it. There's more to a proper GT than big HP numbers. Everyone can stick big sticky tires and a few spoilers to make a car fast. Especially nowadays. The engineering goes into how it feels, how predictable and how much in control it lets you in.
@@an-dr6eu which European cars or Japanese cars are you comparing it to? The interior is excellent and the styling, even though you don't like it, is almost universally loved. Plenty of engineering went into this- not just slapping on a spoiler
I know this video is just over two years old, but can you do a review of the SS, kind of like what you did with the Ecoboost Mustang and Mustang GT? Would really like your opinion on this car in that trim level.
31 minutes in and I'm still enthralled by the amount of technical knowledge and tidbits being thrown at me. This is the sort of shit I want to hear when I'm looking at a car for its technical merits and performance, if I want a useless puff piece by hack 'reviewers' giggling insanely in the car as they press the go pedal then I will go elsewhere. Otherwise, this is where it's at - best review yet.
Uhh...yes and no. This video is far more thorough on the cars features, and especially on it's performance parts list. But MT goes into more detail about the cars driving feel at the limit, and gets actual numbers to compare it with other cars. That and MT's content is funny as well. But this video is very good. Well worth watching.
Joseph Adamo I would even dare to say "1,000,000,000 X's more more badder! SavageGeese shuttin stuff doooowwwwn! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.........STOP! That only took 2.4 sec my dude!
I am absolutely floored. Best and most thorough review I’ve seen for some time. You guys are amazing. I hope all of your content takes off like this badass ride. Thank you so much.
This is truly an excellent review. I own a 2019 SS equipped with the 1LE handling package, and it is a phenomenal vehicle! GM produces a lot of junk, but this is one of those rare offerings from GM that demonstrates the company is capable of producing world-class vehicles.
fuck i love this car. aggresive functional styling, huge supercharged v8, manual gearbox, super wide tires, super awesome well designed infotainment system with a fucking CAMERA! i wish i could convince my friend this is better than the Z06 C7
I like this channel...but this guy adds what value besides lifting the car? I enjoy some of his humor, but mostly he just stands around and adds little to the quality of these videos.
I own a Crush Orange 2019 ZL1 1LE and this review is pretty close to SPOT on. It is an absolute Monster on the track and on the street. I drive mine in the summer on Cleveland roads which are pretty much crap, if your careful and avoid potholes the ride isn't remotely as bad as the reviewer makes it out to be. If you've driven a sports car of any type with coil overs that's what you can expect. I've had this car for 13,000 hard driven miles, both road course and street and yet EVERY time I get behind the wheel a develop a grin a mile wide that doesn't leave my face till I park it. I honestly believe that this car will be the one I'm buried in.
I truly enjoy your reviews. It's so important to have a real car enthusiast with vast knowledge that can really explain everything we need to know in great detail. No other channel does it like you do. I am in the market soon for 3 of the cars you reviewed and it's the only channel that gives me what I need to help make a decision. Thank you
These videos and reviews are just getting better and better. Don't change a thing SavageGeese. You guys shit all over the rubbish we get in the UK on Top Gear and Grand Tour. This guy deserves way more subs and views then he's getting. Just a matter of time before your channel explodes buddy.
Alejandro Escobar zl1 without the 1le ur talking about. You don’t need the aero to beat the zl1. It comes with thick tires in the rear they hook. And in a straight line it’s faster without the aero. The car is also lighter. Stiffer suspension. Would rather get that then a c7 z06 for the same price range
I pressure washed the Celebrity engine then interior dash began smoking big time and engine shook constantly after that . Got rid of it , although I liked it's ride & 2 door .
"If you want some fluff video that's a giant advertisement for this car, look elsewhere, because we're gunna get pretty in-depth on this." Sounds like I'm in the right place then.
Great video and input. I am a current GT350 owner who has had one car replaced due to two motor issues. The replacement vehicle has electrical gremlins that cannot locate. I may found found my next car.
HPDE Fun You know I feel like Ford and VW both expect the customer to just live with the poor R&D that gives reliability or lack of it. Arrogance? Similar in BMW too. Honda pulls same crap with interior refinement, noise, and poor ergonomics. GM can build awesome stuff. If these companies did grueling tests and showed the results, the buying public might trust them more.
Scott is, in my humble opinion, one of the most non-biased, true tester I have ever watched and I thoroughly enjoy his and Save Goose productions. Great job guys!!
A 44m SG video, and a chance to win the car. My Wednesday just got so much better. As the brother of someone with Downs, and a Vet I really appreciate you linking up with Tri Industries. Thanks for your video work and your help with these groups.
This is my first time watching a video from this channel, and I am very impressed. The content is stimulating, the information is accurate and concise and I felt apart of the production. I find it difficult to ascertain opinions from these RU-vid ‘gurus’, and this channel just set the bar comparatively high. Good shit.
Please don’t ever hesitate because something is a “long explanation”...that’s what I’m here for dude...that’s what makes you the chosen one :P But seriously, the more you lean on your knowledge and share it the better these videos are, I’ll donate to TRI or whoever their name is just for that
Just get an SS 1LE. Just as capable, less likely to kill you, and significantly less likely to forcibly remove your fillings/caps. And save $40k with the same V8 goodness (just less of it). It’s the bargain of the 2010s
This video will grow your chest hairs. As soon as I finish my vegan power bar, I'm going to my Chevy dealer for one of these and trade in my Prius. Folks, we're in the Golden Age of automobiles!
As a mustang guy, I can't help but to give complete and utter respect for this car. It's an absolutely gorgeous and phenomenal car. If ever my wallet could accomodate a car in this price range, it would be very hard to choose between this or the Shelby GT350.
@kragseven wow how cool are you? DRAG RACING ain't nothin. Next you be saying how cool driving an oval is Go Nascar! Derp DE derp! And ps. Nobody gives a shirt about what you did all night.
The problem with a GT350 is that it's not a street car. Everyone will try to race you and the car is seriously lacking in low-end torque, which translates into embarrassment unless you're already at speed.
@@pr01fessional I guess most Mustang's and in general any brand of car will do that to you if you don't know your car good enough but if you look at the Ford GT in the 24Hr Le Man's it has set record podium standings no GM car's can ever do! Now that's a history fact that GM cars can't do in the Le Man's by showing up in 1966 winning all 3 podiums and 2016 1'st & 2'nd and 4'th!
@@peterpeters4111 Everyone who follows the American LeMan series knows what happened in 2016. It was the anniversary for the Ford GT being at Le Man and all the other cars in the GTLM class were handicapped with additional weight and air restrictors. This was intentional to give the Ford's a major competitive advantage. Don't believe me? Find the videos on-line and see what the Corvette drivers, Aston Martin drivers and Porche drivers said and didn't say. It's obvious it was rigged. Do you know that every year that the Ford GT has been back in the Series that Corvette has won the championship? Yep, it's true. Also, Corvette racing has been the dominant team for the past 15 years. No other manufacturer has won more races, drivers championships, team championships and manufacturers championships in that span of time then Corvette. So while I'm impressed with what Ford did back in the 60's....totally impressed, what Corvette has been doing is even more impressive.
So far, one of the most extensive reviewer, and i'm loving it. He just say what his opinion is and compare it to the actual competition which is really good (mustang etc) keep it up bro
I JUST bought one. A 2018 ZL1 1LE with 9k miles... 6 speed... all the bells and whistles.. This is by far the best review of this car. Touched on all the best points. It is truly a BEAST of a car and a pleasure to drive. When i signed the deal on it I knew I had joined hallowed ground.
Now thats a God damn review!!! Should have a million subscribers but not everyone wants serious in depth reviews. Some car fan boys just want douchebag cul-de-sac car show reviews. Thank you Savage Geese for making masterpiece level reviews.
I loved the content of your videos as it is, but the quality of it felt like I was watching Top Gear really top notch and especially that intro. I can tell you giving it everything to make this a great quality video.
This guy has one of the quirkiest senses of humor I've ever run across. "Those who love V8's and exhaust tones, take a minute to fellate the sound clips here". That's just straight-up brilliant comedy :) What color do you suppose he paints his toenails?
A new goose video? Check. ZL1 1LE? FULL CHECK. Quantity one Turbowski? Erect check. Thanks for the phenomenal content and continuing support for an awesome cause. Keep it up hombre.
@STREET SHARKS BEDFORD POINT yes the zl1 1le has more power but track wise they are pretty close ! of course it depends on the tracks , but when i track my SS 1LE , i keep up with the zl1s and supercars , you don't need that much power to be fast around corners .
I’ve watched this video so many times I’ve lost count but the thing that always gets me is the angle at which 34:44 was shot at, the down shift and the cornering just boggles my mind on how responsive and tight the car is
Question: First off you are probably the only reviewer that I trust who doesn't have any BS ulterior motive behind your reviews so for that thanks. I just bought a 2020 ZL1 1le A10 waiting for delivery - I have had just about every HP car on the market over the years so - I hear you on the tires and heard others say the same thing so what tires would you recommend (price not a problem) for this car for the street . Had a HC redeye wide body in my sights until I saw this absolute beast of a beast and the A10 tranny my Goodness ... standing by for your reply again, thanks for all your unbiased reviewing. Agree with the other poster your channel is under rated for sure ...
The mustang interior is light years ahead of the GM it's not even close and the ergonomics are way better... Mustangs are designed for drivers GMs are designed for garages and showroom floors
When I say that this is by far the best zl1 1le review I have seen you my good sir have done an amazing job. I had to subscribe and turn on notifications. Thank you. I was skeptical about a 43 minute review but actually watched the whole dam thing
Whooaaaaa.... are you telling me the Savagegeese 1st owned a Chevy and it was your 1st and last car? My 1st car was Chevrolet Beretta and it was my last Chevrolet car as well. Maybe there's hope for Erwin Schrodinger.
What a incredible overkill review, you surpassed yourself again Mister goose. Just one question though, is Scott still butthurt about the fact that aston martin raped the Chevy in the LM GT class?
I'm glad I found this video! I've learned a lot about my new ZL1 1LE. Picking it up Tuesday. I haven't even seen it in person yet! Great Review. Thank you.
It made me laugh that there was so much engineering and design thought put into keeping the car on the road, and it is still a real handful. Asking why this kind of car exists though, we might as well ask why any car has over 100bhp when a porsche had that in the 70s and was fun. I'd prefer something 10/10ths myself but would still like a blast in this car.
Awesome video ... awesome car ... The folks at Chevy do the best Chassis's in the business for American Cars ... Would love to take it on a track ... and would have two sets of rims and different tires for street use ... I bought the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season tires ... not nearly the grip of the Cup 2 tires, but they don't tram or pick up stones and debris ...
Nice review, but I will ding it for a couple of points. When mentioning the small trunk opening and the limited visibility, it does need to be mentioned but with the comment that the small trunk opening AND the high window sills (which help give it a closed in feel) is what makes the chassis so rigid. Knocking the Camaro for these things is like saying "I wish the chassis didn't perform as wonderful as it does because I'd rather have a large trunk opening, or great SUV-like visibility. This is one case where you can't have your cake and eat it as well, and I wish more reviewers would acknowledge that what makes the Camaro great, is also what makes it a little difficult to live with. The second point I'll make is that I was told by a GM representative that the reason for the navigation screen being angled down was to keep sun glare down to a minimum, which is a pretty good solution. I'm sure an anti-glare coating might've also helped. Otherwise, very nice in depth review. I've had my ZL1 for about 5 months now and it always brings a smile to my face when I get behind the wheel.
I do love this channel, the review and how depth they go and the driving impressions is perfect they really get into and I feel like they give the best reviews
