Video of some corn silage action from Convoy Ohio at Convoy Dairy.
In this video Hall Ag Services is out in the field with their Gray colored Claas Jaguar 980 Forage Harvester with a fleet of Trucks from Buschur Farms and Kill Agri Service taking of the corn silage and back at the Silage Pile is a John Deere 9320 and Versatile 310 tractor pushing and packing the silage while a Deere 6175R tractor pulls a sheepsfoot packer.
Also some bonus footage as Girod Farms agitates and hauls out of the manure lagoon.
I filmed here several different days so I will be doing a Part II and possibly a Part III of this video. I have footage of these guys chopping in the mud coming up in the next video.

It's really awesome to see, how these tractors push it all away, as if it was nothing...😲👍

Its cool to think that all that silage that they are cutting and packing will soon be back in the field. Just in a different form and as fertilizer! ;) Great Video Mike!

Wouldn't have thought a sheep'sfoot roller would be effective on silage. My experience was always using tractors.

Another great video Mr.Less as always but I do have one question. What is the stuff they are chopping at the 32:00? It was really short compared to the rest of the video. I'm assuming it's another variety of corn but I thought I would ask.

That looks really hard to do. I guess you don't have to pay as much attention to the rows as much as you do the nozzle (I'm envisioning doing it on our fields, we don't have anything close to straight lines in our fields, but every once in a while someone around us will do silage for someone else). That would be a stressful day without a hopper.

What's the brand name of those silage trailers they use, have not seen that style before but they look slick

First off... Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! Secondly, great video as always, and lastly, where do these farmers get all of those tires to put on top of the piles?!?!?!?! :-)
@robertklein9190
@robertklein9190 5 лет назад
Mike, Nice Versatile, but why does it need a mafia block, are the tires loaded too? I'm still looking for the wind mills and tulips. BTW, hope you made it home for thanksgiving, but there's always leftovers

It doesn't really need it for pushing, but hey, since they are packing, might as well put some load on ;) In many european operations I saw in videos, farmers there have so many heavy-equipment salvage-yards around them that they will take the back-weight off of an excavator, and hook em on the 3point-hitch. That makes for a clean and neat looking weight. ;)

Great video. Windmills really set off the video. Sure was a hot summer. I’m no corn or crop farmer . So I’m gonna ask a question. Why does the silage have to be spread out and packed?
@nigelford6777
@nigelford6777 5 лет назад
It's actually being confined to as small an area as possible consistent with being able to be reached by the unloading machine as it is fed throughout the rest of the year, once fully "clamped" & sealed.The material needs to be compacted as much as possible to exclude as much air from it for the nutrients to be preserved in an anaerobic state and avoid it rotting. (ex-farmer & silage competition winner!)

Cody Ludwig we make all this electricity with these turbines and sell it to New York if that makes any sense lol

How many wind farms would there be if not for government subsidies? Your tax dollars at work ruining the landscape.
@dregenius

Jerry Halcomb Wind turbines "ruining the landscape" seems pretty subjective.. on the other hand, most people would agree that smog, acid rain, and complete mountain top removal among plenty of other things caused by mining and burning coal, *actually* ruin the landscape.
