2018 Fat Bob USB, battery pigtail, and accessory connection locations 

Just watched ur video and found all the same things on my '18 softail that my dealership didn't tell me, thx bro..

My 2018 Fat Boy battery needed a bit of a charge and I didn't want to pull the battery out. This video helped a lot. And the USB port 🤯

There is also the Electrical Connection Upgrade kit connector. Counting upwards, its the third connector from the mounting plate screw hole. The electrical connection upgrade kit is awesome. It has connectors for additional accessories. IE. Install an amp without splicing into the existing wires & heated seat & heated grips, etc...

If you hold down the scrolling button on the handlebars you can turn on USB charging port while bike off

Thanks for the video. I knew I had the battery port and usb but I was curious about that 3rd connector on the battery plug. Thought I got the wrong tender, but fits just fine. And that extra bit about the license plate, didn't know that 👍

The extra connector on the battery tender cord is for the original Harley tender. It would “charge” faster when connected to the third (spade) connector.

Thanks for that, i half pulled my battery out just to charge it not knowing that plug was there.

Thanks for the info cause I have a 2023 fat bob and I never knew about the USB ports. The pig tail I’m changing out and replacing it with NORCO CBC007 to make it to charge my battery or connect my NORCO GB 40 charge pack.

Thanks man its also there on my streetbob 2019 . My dealer said nothing about the usbport. Easy for GPS charging or mobile phone it is.

That grey connector is the diagnostic port for your dealer to interface with the ECM. It can also be used to plug in programmers when moding your engine.

You can energize the USB without the ignition on by holding down the odometer/function switch for a few seconds. You'll see the headlight come on at a lower power.

My breakout 114(2018) came with a 2nd pigtail on the exhaust side some location/where the battery slides out.you may want to check out yours also.might be there!

Am I able to plug my side mounted license plate tag light into the extra wiring harness port? Can somebody please help me? Lol I have a 2018 sportster 48 with an extra wiring harness plug. I have the battery tender too. I ordered a side mount plate with a tag light, and a led tail light with no tag light. Thr tail light plugs into the same type of plug as the extra one beside it under the seat.

Found one on my 18 street rod too the other....Wish I had know as I was riding at 33F here in Oxford , UK.

WTF! I phoned up yesterday to book in to fit the changer pigtail and they told me it should be pre fitted. Watched your video to find out where and I also have a USB port! Useless handover from Harley after paying £16k. Already done the plate though and your right it looks much better on its side

Great video. Have you ever tested the volts and amps the USB port puts out? Is it like a car USB where it doesn't deliver enough power to charge a phone quickly and the phone runs down fast when using its GPS? Interested in the M8s but this is a factor for me to consider. Thanks.

Hi, there's no power on my USB port when bike is running, nor while off and holding the scrolling button, any ideas?

I was ticked to find that the bob has the USB port already on it the Softtail standard doesn’t so I had to buy a $94 part for mine.

I have a Mophie battery case on my iPhone - this causes charging issues with the fat Box USB port.

So how do you jump it if the battery is dead

So can that USB box be removed to open up that space or does it power other things?

Talk about dealer knowledge. When I bought mine the salesman wanted the rain bonnet that goes over the air filter intake. He had no idea what it was for and thought it might possibly just be packing material.

Hi! Congratulations on your videos. I enjoy watching them, they are very informative. I have a problem with my 2018 Fat Bob and I thought that maybe you can help me. I have a Canadian model with the brake light on the licence plate rack in the middle of the rear wheel. I removed the light and the plate and I bought a rack to put the licence plate on the side just like yours. I must have done a short circuit somehow because there is no electric curent in the wire. I went to my local Harley Davidson dealer in Montreal and they told me that the BCM put a code to protect the bike and that I have to do a sequence on the handles to remove the code. I cannot find how to do that. Do you have any idea? Thank you!

Has anyone tried to hook up the standard 2 prong Battery Tender connector to Harley's spade connector? When I did my Tender kept flashing red...meaning not charging...maybe I am not letting it connect long enough before it starts flashing green?

I have two battery maintainers and neither will charge the battery, nothing happens when I plug them in, but they work on other vehicles.

Good video. The salesperson is your best friend during the sale process & especially before the sale. Man, you'd think you knew him/her for years then...after the sale still your still a best friend for about 3-4 days because he'll call you to check on you because he wants a good review but after that give them a call and you'll get "Who the F**K is this". In any event The HD battery tender connector only uses 2 connectors on the bikes pigtail. The spade part isn't used. I also have a NOCO Genius1 battery tender but there is no way I could connect it to the bike pigtail. How do you connect your tender to the HD pigtail?

The grey 6 pin is your diagnostic connector. " DO NOT POWER ANYTHING FROM IT" the black connector on the right is your accessory power connector.

Typical primitive HD design. What's going to happen to the USB cover when you have something plugged in and you're riding down the highway. It will flap around, eventually it will break off. There design should have a place to lock-down the cover so it is secured while riding.
