You should do a quick video on Apple CarPlay. My wife rolled her eyes when I mentioned it. Now that she’s tried it, she says she’ll never buy a car again without it. I basically never have my phone in my hand now with CarPlay.
"Lets look at the steering wheel" stares at it "ok nothing to say about that" HAHAHA favorite part! I have a 2017 model and they are almost exact same I was excited to see that FORS completely redesigned it for 2020
I love this review thank you!! I have a 2017 Ford explorer platinum with two seats in the middle with a console in between and a third row. With 2 car seats in the middle row the third row is completely inaccessible unless you go through the trunk. I felt so weird making my 10 year old go to the third row through the trunk but I feel so much better hearing you say it too! Thank you for your real and authentic reviews!!
I have the same Explorer. I can fit a Starbucks in my door compartment but it takes some finesse. The little compartment in front of the cup holders can fit a cup in a pinch. I don’t find that my family of four is ever short on cup holders. The extra deep trunk and it’s flexibility is what sold me.
Hubby and I are loving the realness of your reviews. We are in the market and prefer to buy ‘newly’ used. I’d love to see a review of a Subaru Outback and a Cadillac CT6 and XT6. I currently have a 2013 Equinox but my boys are done with car seats and we need rear air! We don’t need massive as our second vehicle is a Traverse.
loved this! I solely look for used SUVs and loved watching this! Do you still do the used reviews? I would love to see a Palisade, Outlander or Telluride?
Just bought this car over the weekend! My first larger mom car and I’m obsessed. We’ll need a larger car like the expedition in a few years but I’m binge watching your content lately, I love it!💕
Used car prices insane. In March, we got a 2021 Ford Explorer XLT with 4WD & Sport Appearance Package for $47,950 OTD. Can’t imagine paying $35,000 + tax, etc. for a used one with 40,000 miles on it. 😳 On the flip side, they gave us $11,500 in trade in for our 2014 Honda Accord with 94,000 miles on it and turned around and sold it for I believe $17,000! Crazy!
Quick question! I have this car, and am trying to decide where to install my infant car seat. Should I do the latch method on the passenger side, or should I do the seatbelt method in the middle seat? Thanks!
Hey girl, love your videos, basically watch them all lol! Just wanted to say I think it'd be very beneficial to show how the graco fits rear facing instead of only the infant seat rear facing. In my old Santa fe our pumpkin seat fit just fine, but then once our oldest was ready for a rear facing convertible seat it didn't really fit! Me at 5'7 had to scoot my driver's seat up so much and was uncomfortable driving, with my 6'1 hubby in driver's seat it just didn't work! I feel like the pumpkin seat damn near fits in any vehicle comfortably. For our next vehicle we tested the convertible rear facing in all vehicles before choosing lol.
So glad you talked about the air bag seat belts and the lower anchors!!! Those were my 2 biggest complaints with my explorer. I had my first kid and struggled with the seat belts and anchors. I was so disappointed by my “mom” car because it wasn’t easy. I even work for a dealer but didn’t know these downfalls.
I agree regarding the Pilot! Isn’t that like one of the #1 mom cars? We just bought a new one but I wish you did a review of it beforehand. Either way I’ll still watch if/when you review it! 😂
@The_Car_Mom great video! About to get one of these for my wife tomorrow with kiddo 3 on the way. Any idea if you could fit a forward facing and rear facing car seat next to each other (driver side, middle) in the second row??? Thanks!
Xlt with sport appearance package. Also my options I would get in a explorer a ST/sport or platinum because they are the only ones with the eco boost turbo
We have this car and our third baby is on the way. We put the baby seat and my two year old's seat in the second row next to each other so my almost 4 year old could access the third row. Just wanted to put it out there that it is possible to maintain 3rd row access with 3 car seats- but it is super tight! I don't think the explorer is great for more than two car seats. It's just too cramped. Going to try to make do for a bit but once the baby has to move into a convertible car seat it definitely won't work and it'll be Expedition time! lol
I purchased a 2018 Explorer Platinum (black) a few months back and I admit, I paid more than I should have but we needed a larger vehicle right away and prices just keep going up. I paid $32k for it and it has 95k miles on it, but it is pretty cherry. There was only a little bit of scuffing on the door panels, totally expected for a 4-5 yr old vehicle. It has the dark interior with light gray leather seats and trimmed in chrome and satin aluminum (i think they called it aluminum.) We love it so far but I would have loved it more if it was 6-12" longer for a bit more 2nd and 3rd row leg room, about 5-7 gal more fuel capacity, and smaller 3rd row head rests. I don't mind if they come up farther, but with them up, they block a great deal of the rear view. The ride is ok, haven't used 4wd yet, but it has good power. It feels like the power is dialed down considerably as it goes and goes fast, but doesn't seem to sit you back in the seat with as much torque as the engine has; not even when the turbos are boosting the power. I would rather this be 4x2 vs AWD (intelli 4WD) because the fuel mileage sucks. I agree about some of the cup holders. If they aren't totally useful, why even have them.
Can you do another used vehicle review on a second-generation, 2011 or 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander GT 4WD compact SUV with the 3 L V6 engine and the six-speed automatic transmission? It would also be nice for The Car Mom channel. Thank you very much.
Definitely think you should check out the Atlas. Avoid the 2018 if you can. I have that year and it was the very first year so I’ve had issue after issue. But love the SUV itself!
Absolutely wise and intelligent decision, these specific explorers (fake range rovers I call them for their facade.) Are notorious with electric and odd issues.
I would recommend to not buy any newer Ford Explorer, because of its reliability and its interior space. They are not made to last. You can always look at a newer Toyota Highlander, but purchase the one with the 3.5 L V6 engine and the six-speed automatic.
That last reliable explorer was in 2010. After that the new design came in 2011 and some how (me) as a nerdy 13 year old at the time could easily tell the engines are unreliable. Who thought 4 cylinder with a turbo was a good idea????
I have an 09 explorer. I like it but wish I had more room. I wish I went with the expedition or Chevy suburban. I will say that the explorer does meet my needs and has been really reliable so I’m in no rush to get rid of it. With the v6 I’m on the lower end of mpg at like 14. But I do tow a lot and drive through the mountains. So I would expect poor mpg with any vehicle
For someone who is really invested and not knowing what car to get I love your reviews and content for moms love love love it especially cause I am looking for the perfect car for my little family a sedan is just not it 😖
I love the Explorer, I have a 2005, but I hate the gearshift in the center console, it belongs on the steering column! Sadly, they moved it in 2006. Hoping to get an F150 XLT once I'm ready to buy...gearshift on the steering column and no center console crap! Easy slide to the passenger side! Old school rocks!
My favorite generation was the 2002-2005 3rd gen, I even brought a 2nd gen just because those older ones were made better then this new ones being made.
Hey can you please do a comparison of the ford explorer with bench seat / Kia sorento bench and pack the car for like 2 car seats diaper bag and a car organize video im worried these key point will lot suit my needs and wants 2020-2022 is fine just looking for a 8 seater
I have a 2017 explorer with 3 in car seats! It can be done depending on the age of your older two, but you definitely have to play around with car seat brands/ the more narrow option seats.
I just traded in my 2016 Explorer Sport for a 2018 Volvo XC90. I loved the Explorer for it's power and performance but it was dated and lacked the newer safety features. The Volvo on the other hand was WOW! It takes comfort to a whole different level that I never felt in the Explorer and it also brought down my insurance premium lol!
We almost doing the same, trading in our 2016 grand cherokee for a new volvo xc90. Funny how the volvo is the same since 2016 yet looks and feels so much more luxurious
@@Crusaderhun You will not be disappointed. I am so impressed with the brand. The styling is simple yet elegant and luxurious. The drive is very smooth, I don't even realize sometimes that I am way over the speed limit lol!
The front passenger storage on the previous design of the Explorer does stink. My husband went from a 2019 Explorer to a 2021 Palisade. HUGE difference
The explorer you brought was the worst one ever made, the previous generations were better in room and off-road. I tried all five generations, never will own a 5th and 6th generation.
I have this vehicle but a 2017 model, same rims, tinted windows. The only thing I really don't like about this vehicle, is the 3rd row. It's so VERY small, adults cannot sit back there, and if I have children sitting in the 3rd row, they're feeling crammed. I'm not sure if there's anything I can do to give more space back there or am I just S.O.L? lol. I also did not know the 3rd row goes the OTHER way... I'm definitely going to try that out. :) TYSM!
Could you do a used 2017-2019 escape. I want one and I have a front facing car seat and I want to see if it fits. All the ones near me are selling so quickly I may have to buy one online and I want to know if it will fit my car seat.
I had a 2017! Evenflo Tribute fit well forward facing. A little tight rear facing with an infant seat but I’m tall and didn’t wanna move seats up too much, so I read the manual and it allowed for the install the way it was. Good space for a good price in the Escapes!
They are nice but don't buy one between 80k-100k miles, transmission issues tend to start happening. If you get one remember change the Trans fluid early, will last longer.
@@ramanpreciado2241 well I bought one an I’m about 40k miles in and it’s a piece of shit. The 1.5l is awful and it’s already been in the shop three times. So fun
At 8:21 she said “we aren’t sure if the piece is missing” what piece is she talking about because I drive the same car and didn’t see anything missing 😫
That price seems crazy high for a 3 year old car with almost 50 k miles. I look at depreciation tables by year , by vehicle and that truck should have dropped more. I have seen 2015 expeditions for 26k with 85k miles. I think they would be a far better value. Would love to see you review a toyota sequoia used. Maybe 2015 or so.
