I went to that link before I realized they were shady, saw a wrecked Camaro that looked pretty good, but saw some hidden damage in the photos and said "Wow, these guys are good? Look like total sheisters to me." Then I watched the rest of your video... Stock Number #0120154

I checked it out. Google the vin and see what it looked like before. WOW! Of course they put a windshield in, that is their trademark. lol

I didnt know about Google the vin. Thanks. I looked at the Camaro and it looks like they stitched the bumper together in a couple of spots to make it appear that it wasn't as bad of a hit then it was. Crooks.

They seem to be doing it a lot at that dealer. There is another one in New Orleans doing the same thing. I keep seeing the same trucks I bid on popping up there with this same kind of doctoring. These guys need a beating!

Good morning Scott, by the time you put the gloves on, I would have already been to the Redi med center to get 18 stitches. I have seen some of my customers get ripped off, but nothing like that. Wow what a mess. It is a wonder that they would not consult with someone like yourself to analyze that truck. A prebuy fee would be a real saviour on this mess. Another great video. You take care and have a good weekend.
@vehcor
@vehcor 5 лет назад
The gloves tend to slow me down on the smaller things but can speed up the process when I don't have to worry about some extra blood. That seller does this all the time. I cannot believe someone has not gone after them. I always recommend an inspection to people that don't do this daily. It is a small investment for piece of mind. Have a good rest of the week. I am a little slow on the replies, things are a little busy here.

Another satisfying video, thanks. I am reminded of when, about 100 years ago, I cut off the front and rear metal on my wife's '61 Super Beatle. I have a 2000 Silverado that I think is really more of a very late '99 because it only has three doors. It's getting pretty long in the tooth and the list of items on it that need attention grows every longer. Trucks are so expensive these days, but your videos like this allow me to day-dream of getting a 3rd gen from someone like you who rescues these and puts them back on the road in better than new condition. Appreciate you, brother.
@vehcor

I had a 2000 Silverado 3 door 2500 long bed before I got my 06 Silverado. It was a great truck. I sold it with over 300k on the original drivetrain. These 2015+ are so much quieter and more comfortable, they are almost worth what they cost.......... ALMOST. lol

When I was 16 in 66, I had to use your favorite tool to take my59 Impala apart. Seems after an encounter at an intersection that the front end was facing the right and covering all the bolts. A few weeks after the original encounter, I saw another nearly identical 59 that had been T-boned. Other than the floorboard on the driver side being pushed in a little, the body of mine was pristine. the front clip and frame of the second were in perfect condition. After separation of bodies and frames, the good parts came together with no body work required. I sold parts from the second and ended up with a net cost of $75 to pay for painting. No seatbelts back then and I impacted pretty hard. You'd think I would have had a steering wheel impression on my chest. But after that, I do believe in super human power. I hd my hand on the shifter and pressed it into the dash. I put it in a vise and put a long piece of pipe on it and it took all my strength and lots of leverage to bend it back.

I don't know why you haven't opened a small technical school and become the professor instead of the mechanic? This is a wonderful honest trade where young folks can make a great living once educated. Lots of prep, planning and paperwork to get a training center going but definitely doable, what do you think professor? I see young men and women paying for this education along with older folks who want to have a project. Tons of ideas zooming through my head right now??? InLowRange 4X4 we do but in Queensland some repaired I have looked over for friends still have buckled floor pans, tailgates not shutting cleanly(rubbing due to not being square) and some awful shoddy work which had been signed off as ok. This one Mazda CX-9 looked beautiful, low kms, service history but was a dodgy mess underneath. Even the damaged exhaust had bubblegum welds where it had been welded up after buckling in the hit. The rear frame horns were still bent and twisted and bolts left snapped off from where a tow bar had been. You have to be careful looking over any repaired vehicle these days. To many dodgy people looking to make money without a care who it effects

Its amazing how you know where and how to cut from memory! For that ..I salute you sir ! Very entertaining
@vehcor

The cutting with the air chisel is just random and only for access. The drilling is drilling out the spot welds which is all that holds all the panels together. You can actually see them, they may not show up on the camera all the time. Thanks for watching.

I really like the way you do your videos. You can redo a truck in 4 or 5 videos and still include plenty of information and attention to detail in a very short time. I dont have to sit and watch a 30 minute video on removing a door, bolt by bolt...etc. I'm not knocking other youtubers, but I just don't have a long attention span. I also like your sarcasm. At the end when you were pulling the door frame out to see 'what was inside', my answer was more dirt...lol. And I wonder if that bolt you found was an issue for the last owner. I can picture him taking the truck back to the dealer for a noisy rattle and they being unable to locate it. Looking forward to the next episode!
@vehcor
@vehcor 5 лет назад
I don't have a long attention span either and I have to watch the videos as I edit them so it works out. Everywhere I turn on this one, there is dirt. lol The dirt probably muffled the rattling of the bolt though. Thanks for watching.

Only youtube channel your size or larger who mentions "checking the repair procedure." Hey, I've commented before but I'd like to offer up some information. I work in the automotive manufacturing industry (specifically building the machines that make auto parts) and have access to tons of different CAD files of many different parts from Chrysler, Ford, GM, Mercedes and Toyota. For how current this truck is, I never thought these would look simple to part out. It's just like a 90's OBS chevy/gmc truck. Simple-ish.
@vehcor
@vehcor 5 лет назад
They don't change too much. These actually have easier bed bolts to get to. Easier adjustments for the fenders and lots more wiring but is comes apart easier. GM makes the easiest stuff to work on, that is why they are my favorite to build.

Extra bolt part. True story, many years ago a Mercury Grand Marquee that was built in St. Louis was taken to dealer many times with complaint of a bang in the passenger side. Finally dealer was so frustrated that they tore the doors apart, only to find a soda bottle hanging from a string inside the door.

Thanks for sharing the horror story of the shady dealers. Sad that they get away with it. I too learned that lesson the hard way. I guess we win some and lose some. The good news for me is it forced me out of my comfort zone and thanks to channels like yours my confidence and abilities continue to grow. If you have any tips on drilling out the spot welds on gm frame rails that would be great, they are brutal.....lol
@vehcor
@vehcor 5 лет назад
At least you made the best of it! It happens, but it doesn't have to all negative. Keep pushing your comfort zone, that is how I learned as well. I'm guessing you are dealing with the HSS or UHSS. Use a drill bit made for that metal and at low RPM. I use a die grinder to grind a lot of the welds off if possible. I will have a tutorial on the specifics of that on a HSS Terrain rail, eventually. Good luck with your builds!

In 1994 I worked at a Chevy dealership. (HATED IT). I had a BN Z28 with under 200 miles come in with a knock/tick. It was kind of hard to figure out where the noise was coming from until I put it on the lift and fired it up. After dropping the oil pan, I found the culprit. You were talking about the "EXTRA BOLTS", well, I found a connecting rod bolt with an extra nut on it. Remove the extra nut. Check the torque of ALL of the rod bolts. Install new oil pan and let it fly... Same week I had another Z-28 come in with a creaking noise. Drove it around on a shitty road and heard it, but couldn't quite make out where it was coming from. I pulled it into my bay and was about to set it up on the lift when a buddy walks over and says he had it in a few weeks before and couldn't find the noise. It took some looking, but I found it. The drivers side forward core support bolt was MISSING!!!! Not long after that a GMC truck came in, I forget what year it was, but the owner said it had made a creaking noise since it was new. The truck was far from new, but he was tired of hearing it and wanted it fixed. Putting a steering box bolt in where it looked like there had never been one fixed the noise.....
