I absolutely adored my ‘18 ES. These cars have so much potential and even stock gave so much confidence while driving. Mine was totalled recently and I miss it every day.
I agree, when this car came out in America, it had big competition in the likes of the Civic SI, Fiesta ST, Jetta GLI, Golf GTI, Sentra Nismo among cars. Also still living in the shadow of it's sibling the Genesis Coupe and First Gen Veloster Turbo. But when all those cars started losing to these cars on the roads, people took notice.
I had one pull behind me and didn't recognize the headlights. I testdrove a tinted blue 2018 model with their chrome rims. Ended up buying the car on the spot. This is the most fun car I've had since my 98 Eclipse GST
I want a bigger turbo in my ES so bad. Get a 22mm rear sway bar but leave yoir front stock and the rear end won't hop out a little but my rear end is planted on spirited driving in corners and feont in dives into turned more active and feels a little less dead now I'm also on YSR coilovers too. Love the BOV sound on yours.
The DCT was made by the same company that makes VW/AUDI DSG, and this car by no means look like a rental car, compare this car to the standard models in the 2017/2018 Elantra line to see all the differences. Plus this car is a value based sporty sedan. I feel like the reviewer dissed the car.
@@ciello___8307 I have one, which is why this review had me kinda impartial. But this reviewer is more euro bias and one of those save the manual people's. At the end of the it's a to each their own thing I guess.
@@jonrodriguez56 Damn you got a helluv a deal. Mine had 49k when I got it. I got mine used, It's a fun car indeed, kinda like the owner in the video, it was between this car or a Jetta GLI for me. Jetta's sell so fast everywhere I looked. Well I guess this guy may haven't been dissing the car now that I looked back on the video, but I do think he was a bit smug about the ES.
Naw he was hating a bit but was backing up his bad attitude about it saying nice things here and there but yeah overall I give him a grade of either not showing respect and trying to down the owner or just trying to hate cause he's tryna save the manual and don't get me wrong I'm not hating or trying to I'm just keeping it real and calling it how it is cause I gotta keep it 💯. TRUST YOUR SELF AND YOUR FEELINGS ALWAYS IF YOU ARE NOT EVIL OR ON SOMETHING.... !!!!!!! 💯.
My cousin has the same car and eibach took his car to create lowering springs and installed them for free. Kinda like a test fit and they ride great 👍🏽
Well tell him thank you because I kept bugging the hell out if Eibach to make springs.... and after a year of owning it they finally became available. I probably got one if the first sets after they started production.
What BOV do you have? I’ve got a HKS bov but can’t for the life of me figure out how to properly connect it to all the vacuum lines and avoid check engine light.
I drove a Rental 2020 Elantra sport and it was soooooooo fun idk if it was a 1.6 L or a 2.0 L but it was fasttt for a stock vehicle and handled super good in SPORT mode and drive niceee in the other modes too and Wowww I Fell I'm love with it it shifted super nice too had auto highbeam lights that turn off when a car is coming towards you which was niceee but yeah I don't even think it was turbo the one I drove but idk it could've been a quiet turbo car cause it accelerated like a modded 350z... it felt like it was turbo idk maybe you would know? I HAVE TO GET A HYUNDAI ELANTRA ASAP Ps. He didn't have anything bad happen or hit any issues because he used the dct and probably chip and probably bigger oil cooler and water pump and intercooler... I would think he has a turbo timer also where you turn your car off and it has a set time that you set to shut the car off so that way the turbo can idle and cool down before just shutting it off in cold weather or just period probably. But yeah thanks for all the info and the video both of you !
@@Awsme been in the club since 2017! I bought my 2018 ES 7DCT premium package in Galactic Gray back in Oct 2017! Only had 29 miles on it then, now I have 93,xxx miles!
Bought a 15 Sonata Sport thinking that the car would have the same aftermarket availability as the Elantra Sport....I was wrong and I'm beginning to have regrets. 😂
Breaks are dog water on these cars. In my sport I upgraded real quick. I also can't full throttle the car without going into limp mode and it's stock. Trying to get rid of my sport but props to u and your build sounds good
